This train was manufactured in 2019, I checked the label inside the carriage. They make “old looking” trains in Russia still but they are fine. But yes, it makes you think of the old metrovagonmaz which is definitely outdated.
@@LeondeLeeuw It is not new, but renovated. It is one of the 2 oldest metro trains produced in teh 1980s and put in service in mid 1990s. After reaching their mileage limit, they were sent to Russia for renovation and service life extension. @@ki5739 You're wrong. These aren't renovated but brand newly built trains, just like our Pandas in Budapest M3 Line - you can find a bunch of videos of our version of these trains on my channel. Be warned that if you read somewhere that they were renovated from the old cars, then it's fake news. The old cars are simply scrapped and got cut off. All of these Pandas are fully new ones, although most of their technical/layout solutions are unfortunately not really up to date. Maybe the Sofian version has a few extras compared to the Budapest version, but the technology itself behind them is all the same.
I have no idea what Budapest ordered, but the contract of Sofia Metropolitan with Metrovagonmash was for "overhaul and renovation" of 2 trains and if they would meet the expectations, an annex was to be signed for another 10 trains. The price is 2 735 411 EUR per train for the first 2 trains and slightly more for the next 10. I can try to find what exactly was changed but these are old renovated trains, not new ones.
