I recently got the Jackson Audio New Wave. Its hands down the best chorus pedal i have ever tried. It sounds PHENOMENAL, and is extremely versatile. I highly suggest it to anyone looking for a good chorus. Definitely check your power supply before purchasing to make sure u can power 18v at 300mA
I live in the suburbs of Kansas City but there are actually 2 Kansas City's. One on the Kansas side and one on the Missouri side. The majority of our sports teams are on the Missouri side while our soccer team plays on the Kansas side.
The race track is also on the KS side and then there is the small thing where the Royals and Chiefs stadiums are actually in Independence not KC but that’s the same as many other sports teams named after cities now.
From what I get from watching Tom Bukavoc's vids, back in the day before anyone really knew about the ODR-1, Tom would have boxes of them (because he loves the original pedal) and would give them to Nashville session player and friends back in the day...Maybe we can thank Tom for it becoming the "Nashville Sound"?
Recently picked up an Atom after convincing myself I needed an ODR-1 type pedal in my arsenal. I find the whole range on the knobs super usable but I dig it best with the drive set around 10 o’clock and boost the level. It really helps a tube amp feel more alive if you’re in a situation where you can’t set the volume where you’d like. The Atom has also been great for fattening up single coil tones, especially on a tele. I can see why the ODR has become a staple of Nashville. Great video fellas, cheers!
I got the Black Mountain a couple weeks ago and it's super dynamic and fat. Sounds amazing through a deluxe reverb. Nick Greer designed another amazing pedal. ⚡️
Something I'm learning as a bassist is that guitar players can literally never get enough of drive pedals. I'm like "any filter pedals, delays, phasers, no? 12 drives? I see" lol.
Guitarists are simple animals, just fuzz, od and distortion. No need to worry about overlaping frequencies, distortion killing low end, pushing some di through, speaker response or the room configuration. Just play what sounds nice🤣
DP is on fire in this one! 🔥 All pedals sounded very nice. To me, the JA Sears pedal had the most character, definitely it’s own thing. Seems like good value for money too. The Atom sounded nice, not sure what makes it different from a Nobels but you gotta love that Nobels ODR low mid girth for chords. The Greer sounded a bit sterile/80’s at first but when compared to the Atom it actually sounded a lot more clear and three dimensional. Anyways, thanks for the entertainment.
I’ve had the New Wave pedal for about 24 hours now, I played on it for like 8 hours yesterday! It’s fantastic, and it’s versatile. Just sounds way better than the digital stuff like the chorus on my Kemper. I can’t wait to gig with it today!
ODR-1 is associated with Nashville because of Tom Bukovac. He loves it and has apparently evangelized the shit out of it over the years. It's literally because of him almost single handedly that it has the reputation of being this Nashville session guy favorite.
Everything is getting a leg up going into the Friedman LS. The amp will do so much with any pedal you chuck at it....... Please keep doing the OLD reminiscing Lee and Pete bit , endless possibilities 🤣 Love it!
I'm from Brazil. I'm an amateur and I use amp sims to play guitar with IEM. Here almost neither of these pedals we can find to buy too. But a I love your videos! It's informative, it's funny... Great show! Thank you.
It seems to have more drive than gain, more crunch, less distortion, whereas it doesn't have as much gain or dirt as it has drive, yet not as much distortion
Make one simple change to the title, "The Pedal Crypt" sounds so much more evil and metal, thanks for all you do, someday I will visit the UK and you guys will be one of my first stops! A guitar-themed European vacation sounds like a sound idea!
The Silvertone amps were like a step below the Valco and Supro amps. All those amps were okay, until they went solid-state. At the time that happened there weren't a lot of pedals to get that Drive back. I was in just that situation for a few years. No Fun! However, they old tube ones were rediscovered and prized by collectors, almost like boutique amps, but so are Silvertone & Harmony guitars.
Kansas city sits on the border between Kansas and Missouri divided by a river. There is a Kansas City in both states, to end all confusion. Each with its own Mayor and associated government entities. Leavenworth is in Kansas, the big Federal Prison, just outside of town, fun fact.
I usually can't stand the sound of fuzz pedals, but that Focus Fuzz sounds great! Edit: Wow! I typed this before you said it lol. My reason for not liking fuzz pedals is that spitty sound they have. It reminds me of the sound when the battery was low on my DS-1 I used to have. It would grate on me.
ahhh...the old 'we found a secret stash of transistors, so the pedal is limited' line eh? Seems like I've heard that a time or two before. Pedal sounds awesome though.
It was the Cambridge Footlights - Captain Anderton may remember people like Emma Thompson, Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Rowan Atkinson, being the same age as me!
I play neo-psychedelic music (inspired by both 60s acid rock and post-punk), and that New Wave pedal is just the absolute bollocks. I’m sure it’s well outside mi budget (I’m a die-hard TC Electronics fan!), but hell if a man can’t dream. Sexiest pedal I’ve seen since the Aclam Dr. Robert, maybe.
I've played on a lot of amps over the years, but the Sears Silverstone is somehow imbedded in my memory as one of the best sounding amps I've played through. I don't know about any one else but it is definitely coveted by me.
My 1982 Sears and roebuck Solid State 50 smoked and never worked again the 1st time I turned it up to 10 w an Arion Metal Master cranked into the front. My civil servant father then procured a horrible Stage 60 Solid state that got me replaced in my 1st band for a guy who couldn't play leads but he had a new Peavey Stereo Chorus 120 2x12. I was 13 looking back it was prob more likely the other guitarist, jailed 3 times for grand larceny divorced w 1 unhappy child, wanted to play all the leads...if i had a ToneX pedal and a powered PA speaker i would have made it big and been interviewed by the Captain. Dont skimp on kids amps.
when they were doing the silvertone pedal, I heard a great Tom Petty type tone at 10:05 real briefly...sounded like american girl. That is a cool pedal for sure!
15:35 Lee: Dolly the sheep Pete: Dolly the Parton Funny you should say that, Dolly the sheep was actually named after Dolly Parton! the cells they used to clone the sheep came from a mammary gland... and Dolly Parton is known for her... well, I think you know the rest 😂
Meh....I remember back in the day a Wah pedal came out that also had a siren so you could faithfully recreate the one in Blockbuster by the Sweet. Now that's rock n roll 😆
Lee, you can't call all waveforms 'sinewaves'. The sine wave is that S-shaped smooth one. Square, triangular, sawtooth waves etc. are not 'sine' waves.
