Protein: green stacks into the blue. No internal dip to reverse. But the jack input/output are TRS, so you can in principle put each side into a switcher separately and then reorder to your heart’s content.
@@JROD082384 the finish is just called “Nebula”. The model is still called the Silver Sky. The “Silver” part of the model name is in no way a reference to its colour. 🤷🏼♂️ And just to add, the Nebula was a very limited run finish option which was at the time of release hugely in demand, no longer in production and would be very expensive to buy now second hand.
@@digitalchris6681 no matter what the finish colour the guitar is still called the “Silver Sky”. That’s just the model name and the name of the finish is totally separate.
Gents, a thank you from me - these videos are so entertaining and I'm sure I'm not the only one to say they are helping me through a really difficult period! I look forward to these for 30 mins of genuine escapism at the moment! Not to mention fuelling the GAS!
Pete... the feedback on a particular note: simple answer is that any combination of gear (guitar, amp, pedals, i.e. whole signal chain) will have a resonant frequency. That’s a frequency at which essentially the system will “vibrate” with very little energy being lost from those vibrations and when you couple that to the amplified signal coming back out of the speaker and hitting the guitar with that same signal frequency this adds more energy back into the guitar and the system as a whole and the amplitude (volume essentially in this case) will continue to grow until it turns into feedback at that frequency.
Hello! Finally catching up with these! The magic "C" may be the resonant frequency of the pedal circuit for the 1981 Inventions drive to give you that feedback so easily.
I like the 1981 Drive a lot. It's been around in the US for quite some time. I am surprised it took so long to make it across the pond. From what I have read, it is a modified Rat, which means that Pete was spot on when he said it reminded him of the 80's.
I was just thinking the other day how it seems like every overdrive pedal now is like at least $250. Also it seems like actual "distortion" pedals are totally passe now and people only care about "overdrive".
Agreed! I love the tone of the 1981 DRV (basically a modded boutique RAT pedal imho), but I simply cannot justify paying $300 for a single od/distortion. I am perfectly happy with my Archer Ikon that cost about $140 and I know I would never be happy dropping $4000+ on a real Klon....neither would the mrs. lol
Every new overdrive isnt 300$ you bafoons. Boss, Donner, Behringer all have budget options. Hell used you get great deals. A les paul into a cranked marshall does sound good but do you have room to practice with a 100w head to drive it hard enough to get that sound? That is what pedals can do for you, these are more boutique type pedals. Used boss drives (Sd1,BD2,0D1 are all great) go for 50$~, The reason the fancier pedals cost more is because the components are free...
I love my 1981 Inventions DRV. Having said that I haven't tried any of the others for comparison. It took me a few weeks to get it dialed in to suit me but now it is my preferred drive/distortion for a lot of things. going to try that "C" trick. It's based on a RAT so I tend to think of it as more of a distortion pedal rather than an OD.
Hey Pete, If you still don't know what to do with your chilies, try making hot sauce out of them. Habanero hot sauce tastes amazing. I'd recommend combining it with onions, a bit of garlic, lemon or lime zest, orange juice, lemon or lime juice and vinegar.
It’s just great to see someone so passionate. We all have guitarists that inspire us and take different aspects of their playing into our own but for me Petes playing is just mega . I mean yes he does spend a lot of time playing dreamy kit but man this guy could make a 3 string shovel sound mega. Cracking video guys as always .
@@modestoney1577 actually I do. Maybe I should of said in a while or that was a very nice, melodic sounding riff. But, I tend to like to be be more complimentary to the player than not. I also went to a music conservatory and have been listening to nothing but guitar music since I was 8-9 years old and I am currently 36. I’ve heard probably every Hendrix recording ever released and I’ve played my whole life. Grew up listening to my dad’s vinyl collection and he played in bands in 1960’s, learned on his Guild.... blah, blah, blah.... I was mainly trying to be nice. Next time I’ll say nice riff but not as nice as Pat Metheny’s in Bright Size Life... 🙄
@@modestoney1577 now that I answered your obvious question, you did not think Pete’s opening riff wasn’t beautiful and very melodic?? I feel like that’s more of an obvious question to ask.
Christmas Spectacular -- Hi gain metal machine shootout - Cap'n vs. Pete - old school 80s shredding!!! :) :) Happy Holidays guys---thanks for a fun year!
Red Chile Chili for the crew for the Christmas special!~ I just ordered a 1981 Inventions Hyperfade and cannot wait to play it. As magic notes go, the 14th fret on the G string is my personal favorite. ;)
I ordered the 1981 pedal because the Jesus Culture guitarist was talking about it on his RU-vid channel and then when I learnt that Matt from Relient K makes them by hand I was blown away
The magic note is happening because the frequency of the note is an integer multiple of the couple of ms delay between the speaker and the guitar, creating a standing wave within the feedback loop.
Guys you've gotta do 1. a new modelling amp shootout. 2. Please also discuss about software's like bias FX and bias FX mobile running on computers and iPads and how they compare to tube amps, modelling amps, and guitar processors and modellers
I like the idea of trying out 4 selected pedals of interest. I have to admit, after awhile of listening it can get to sounding the same but I am always looking for the 'magic' device or idea and that is why I hover between your channel and TPS with Mick and Dan.
that prs has a sound that is colouring this whole video.and it's low output affects the gain structure. i was screaming " play something else" finally you picked up the les paul. the protein should have a switch but you can seperate the two halves with internal switches and loop them externally using tip ring sleeve jacks.
Dear Mr Anderton, I'm Mr Anderson and I want a protein pedal for Xmas. I have been really good all year and promise to play it every day. I know you probably have to isolate prior to delivery so I'm giving you more than 7 days notice
32:12 Excited Lee is my favorite person on the internet. I can never just put these demos on as background noise because I fear missing one of The Captain's many happy erratic movements.
Vertex pedals are so good. I love the Dumble tones in a box, and they do it better than anyone. The SSS is not a drive pedal though, it’s more of an amp in a box. Their Ultra Phonix pedal is their drive pedal.
honestly, i feel like my 1981 is the only drive Pedal I need. Theres been several times where i can pull off a whole Gig with just that pedal in conjunction with use of my volume knobs.
