I know this is in reference to Dune, but it reminds me of the South Park episode where everyone wants Tom Brady’s poop. If you haven’t seen it, everyone refers to it as “the Spiiiiice”
Josh is technically correct. The guy that invented .gif's said it's pronounced with a "soft" g, but normal people all decided to ignore him because clearly it's the "hard" g.
@@gunshow86de he may have made gifs but he did not make the english language. If the inventor of gun shows said your name was pronounced jun show you wouldnt listen to him unless you have already been pronouncing it that way.
“Tone is the mind bender, It is the little life that brings total obsession, I will build my tone. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it is perfected, My bank account may not remain”.
Here's my best idea ever = this afternoon = Josh and George collaborate on a new pedal that sounds like the smell of an old cat pissed-up bass guitar cass! Nerds are the new cool guys! Wait - nerds pick on me though! I need to make cat piss sounds to feel better, Josh im begging you and George......... Please make the pedal that only you and George can make right. Brian wampler is the man but he aint making no cat piss pedal = thats you and George for the win. Without the guitar effects "pedal" industry my life would be so weird.
Leo Questo: no, no cat. However, I was living in Omaha at the time when I sold it. I understand Josh is down in kansas city. If the nut is bone and cut so the large e string sits too high then that bass used to be mine.....I sold it for $300 back in the mid 80s....I still have the fender amp that matches it.
Dude, at any other point in my life, someone would already be packing one of these pedals into a discrete cardboard box addressed to me. Within seconds of this vid, my eyes were rolling back, with "BUY! BUY! BUY!" echoing in my head. Alas, I'm too poor to buy name brand pedals, and especially NEW name brand pedals, and especially by Way Huge. My used Swollen Pickle is my most expensive, and the best sounding, by far, of any of my pedals. All my pedals are crayons (not any of the actual crayon themed pedals, but like the actual cheap, low pigment, paper wrapped waxy sticks we relegate to children and their graphic master works), and the Swollen Pickle is oil paint. The step up into the sonic big leagues bowls me over, every single time. Damn, I want this pedal. The Conquistador was already in my cue of mythic unattainable pedals to be acquired only through the action of Divine Grace. Now... I don't know which is first in line. I'll have to let the omnipotent 6-9 decide of what I'm worthy, and in potential infinite grace, what order.
Great pedal. It sounds awesome. I like the lights on the sliders. I want one but as a Dune fan, I have to make one correction to what Jeorge says: the weirding module is only in the movie from the 80's. In the book, it's the Weirding Way, which is basically a form of martial arts that allows the human body to channel superhuman abilities like super speed.
I love the movie and I love the books. The part where Paul tells the guy to yell and the stone in the movie is my favorite part, so I’m just fine with the addition.
I love that you promote other brands. You don’t let professional competition get in the way of community and the joy of music. It’s awesome to see you flattering other makers all the time. You’re a bright light in our little corner of the world.
@@steezmcqueen8587 IHOP isn’t a shady organization. Before you spout off about Ugandan bills, that was an employee of a different organization that is only associated with IHOP. That employee was himself Ugandan, and was terminated following the whole thing. So don’t associate Josh with a man he never met working for a group he has no association with because they are associated with but not linked to the place he went to college.
@@steezmcqueen8587 Should we judge his clearly great present on questions in his past? No, he’s given us plenty of reason to trust him, don’t get hung up on something that is ancient history for the pedal market.
@@calebneff5777 I will actually continue to judge him on his past actions. That's my choice. The guy makes good informative videos, yes. But for me his unoriginal money grab designs, social media influence and past actions rubs me the wrong way.
The book is way better. The problem with what he said is that the weirding module is only in Lynch's film adaptation of the book. Apparently Lynch wanted the film to have a more technological feel to it and replaced "the weirding way," a style of hand to hand combat, with the "weirding module." Doesn't matter in the slightest to me though. The creator of this pedal had me at "blue box" (nice subtle reference to the completely blue eyes of a spice addict in Dune), then took it and created a device that allows my tone to transcend time and space. GAS is the wallet-killer.
My favorite Bjork record is Homogenic. I honestly didn't get it at all until I saw a documentary about the making of the record. Then, I started to understand that electronic music can still have the human element. She is one of my absolute favorites now.
I saw Toto play The Dune Theme live on the 80 Trips Around The Sun tour and jumped out of my seat when the intro was by Lance Henriksen "Tell Me About Your Homeworld Usul"
Absolutely love the way Josh and JHS Pedals promotes pedals from other companies. Also, I predict in future JHS will in fact have a pedal called "yard sell" with a knob for level of "cat piss". Note for Josh...when you do make that pedal, I don't need credit for the idea, I just want one of the pedals (to put on my board with my Whitey Tighty and Muffuletta...they need another JHS friend).
Actually The weirding module is not from the book, Dune. It’s from the movie by David Lynch. There aren’t likely to be any weirding modules in the upcoming Dune film.
No Jihads, either. @halcyo: I know I'm in the minority, but I actually love the books and the Lynch film. So many great visuals. I just see it as the same story from a vastly different perspective. Plus, I'm a Lynch fanboy...
Actually two jihads were central to the story. The Butlerian Jihad was the reason for the formation of special schools. The Bene Gesserit, Mentat, and Suk schools came out of that jihad. Then there was the terrible jihad that Paul saw in his future that must be stopped but at every turn he saw his fanatical armies tearing violently through the universe. I guess I’m as much a Dune nerd as much as I’m a pedal nerd. And Jeorge Tripps is the Quizat Haderach!
I really want to get in on the ground floor with Pyramid Scheme. If I get 5 friends to come to a gig, and they each get 5 friends to come to the next gig, will you pay me a percentage of the door receipts?
Sounds cool. Nick is such a good drummer BTW, so big up to him! His timing, feel, space, dynamics etc. is always on point! I know it's just a pedal demo, but still, he always plays just the right beat.
If George wants MY money, he needs to release a pedal called the "Graphic Language". Each of the seven sliders would produce a vocalisation of the seven words you can't say on television. Everybody would buy one, no matter what it costs!
I love Way Huge. They're tragically over-looked b/c of the whole under the "Dunlop" umbrella, thing. I'm guitly of this, myself. This is a strange leap for Way Huge, but a Blue Box that doesn't embarrass and bewilder you when you plug it in at the store?! Awesome! I wanna try this thing!
I am into the Weirding Way. I was putting this video off because i was a little scared by the thumb... and i thought it was another EQ pedal from the pic. This is what i am looking for, and here is something new and special.
homie i just broke my collarbone and cant do anything since im recovering from the surg, so i decided to watch one of ur vids cus ive been playing guitar in bands my whole life and never used a pedal. how the frick did i not know about this amazing world of sounds. literally living under a rock for 20 years. this channel has been the only thing playing in my house for the past three days and I want to personally thank you for exposing me to this. all of my money is now being spent on jhs pedals hahaha i am now a pedal fiend. click click click (pedal noises)
I had one of those old membrane-keyboard Mini-Synths when they first came out and deeply regret ever selling it. Don't know if the Atreides does the exact same thing, but the "Rate" control on the original did pulse-width modulation, not phasing. If Jeorge made it expression-controllable in the final version, that would be wonderful!
So much glorious epic space rock in a single episode. I need to lie down for a few minutes. And then watch it all over again. And again. (Great pedal! Want!!)
I love Bjork, and everything she's ever released. Her live albums (most on video) are also brilliant, but even her most recent albums absolutely stand up to the originality and quality of her earlier material. My favorite tracks from Post are probably "Isobel" and "Hyperballad."
I own the MXR Blue Box, The EHX Microsynth, The Boss Sy-1, the Digitech Bad Robot, the Line FM-4 and a few other things that make weird sounds and the thing is, I never use them in a band setting. That being said I want this.
Try some glitchy shit from Recovery Effects, Death by Audio, Mid-Fi Electronics... So many others... I mean, run this into some other weird boxes... Flanges... Reverse... Delay.. Twist it real hard... Will get great textures..
When I die the angels will all sound like Bjork. One day back in the late 90's I was stopped at a light on Pacific Coast Highway on my way to a studio in Malibu. The car next to me rolled down the rear window and the woman in the back asked me for directions. That woman was Bjork. I just about flipped my lid!
Came here to make sure that’s 100% what it’s supposed to sound like with bass. I’ll probably keep it on electric guitar and use reverse delay/fuzz on my bass when I want this.
cool af. bjork, remember when she wore that swan as a dress, I can vibe with that. This kind of pedal/video creates some nerdy/funny youtube gold in the comments
I feel the same way about my original Hardcover and paper back editions of Dune from the 60s as you do about your pedal boxes. So this pedal makes me very happy to see that it exists.
This is freaking EPIC!! It kind of starts where my Crowther “Prunes’n’Custard” gets surreal , and then ricochets off into multiple dimensions ... I’m in love ....
I wanted it when I though it was a graphic EQ. Then said it's DUNE, and I passed out. I just woke up, and the video is over. I have to go back and try to watch it again.
I'm from Reykjavik Iceland and it was probably 2002-03 and a friend of mine had his cousin over from Sweden. This guy was a huge fan of Björk and Icelandic band Sigurros. We took him to this tiny club. Basically just a 60m2 living room. Björk was the DJ and the guys from Sigurros were just hangin out and drinking beer. I've never seen anybody as star struck...
This is my second favorite Bjork album... my favorite is Gling Glow.... Bjork singing jazz with her father’s jazz trio... awesome... she is an amazing talent from her youngest years! Also, suggestion if you like double bass bands would be Butterfly Train... garage Indy from the 90s... led by the original bass player from Built to Spill... thx!!
