When a brain aneurysm ruptures, blood flow to critical areas of the brain can be interrupted, leading to tissue death - and depending on the size and location, it can be life threatening. A precise, minimally-invasive approach to treating the most difficult brain aneurysms was recently approved for use in the United States, and this video documents the first procedures with this device to be performed in Connecticut. A new endovascular technology, the WEB (Woven EndoBridge) Device is navigated through catheters from blood vessels in the leg up into the brain. “It’s a little woven basket that can be deployed inside the aneurysm and then conforms to the shape of the aneurysm,” said Charles Matouk MD, Yale’s chief of Neurovascular Surgery. “It will prevent blood from going all the way up inside the aneurysm, and if blood can’t get in there, the aneurysm can’t rupture.” The WEB Device offers a new treatment option to patients who previously might have needed open surgery, or a more complex endovascular therapy. “To have a procedure that has been more simplified, that's been refined so that it's not only faster, but I think safer, is tremendously rewarding,” Dr. Matouk said.

From what I was told by a neurosurgeon, the coil is the less invasive , but not a permanent fix, clipping is actually the best. I have a 7 mm brain aneurysm that in 1 month grew to 8 mm. It was found by accident. I went in for heart ablation surgery, after surgery, the surgeon talked to my wife, said everything went great, within 5 minutes, things went south really fast, I actually went unresponsive for over 3 hours, they were afraid I had a massive blood clot, had a seizure or had a stroke. They activated the stroke team, did an emergency CTA of head and neck, that’s when they found my brain aneurysm!

@@Demiii_GoD. To be honest Rich, I was worried about losing a lot of my memory and coordination. It hasn't been that bad. I feel that I have about 78 percent of my normal self back to what it used to be. Surgery was a month and a half ago so I consider it good progress.

Today my cousin found out that she has an aneurysm behind her eye and that there is nothing they can do for her.. May I ask why nothing can be done for my cousin? Are coils not even an option?

I found out in 2016 (after a mild stroke) that I have a aneurysm located near the center of my brain. I had a angiogram procedure done 2-1/2 weeks ago and was informed that a brain stent is now recommended for my 5mm aneurysm. I'm more afraid of the procedure, risks, and recovery than I am of dying. The only thing that I've been told so far is that the risks of having another stroke or dying during the procedure is only about 5%. I am curious as to what the risks of things such as lost bain and bodily functions might be and how am I to know how experienced/skilled the surgeon would be. I would greatly appreciate opinions and feedback from additional sources.

@@phillipwood4924Mine will be next month, the aneurysm is localized in the bifurcarion ICA, literature says that this kind is probably a pediatric aneurysm as it occur in children, which is rare, we really don't know why it doesn't ruptured already. I discovered last month that i'm allergic to Aspirin, which is rare too, the good news is that my aneurysm neck is narrow enough to discard a stent use, so i can dismiss the Aspirin in my post treatment. I'm really scared right now, but trying to stay positive, feeling a bunch of sentiments at the same time, i've always been so scared of aneurysms and cancers localized in the brain, when i discovered it i just passed out.
