Found this video late. The comments here are probably the most self-serving, idiotic, and simply racist that I have seen. Notice how all the other videos don’t have comments on how funny they are, or any other critique, only the one with a minority woman in it. Just because it’s not your voice or style doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s this mindset, of the world revolves around me and any other idea or opinion is bad because it’s not mine, is all that’s wrong with the world.

These cartoons are neither witty nor visually impressive, so this interview in which the artist shares her process for creating the cartoons is ridiculous. There's a cargo cult happening here where people remember some old witty New Yorker cartoons (e.g. "on the internet, no one knows you're a dog") and then assume that the cartoon format itself confers wit.

it isn't as if art and comedy are subjective...

Honestly, these are 3 of the worst cartoons I ever saw, and I generally love these videos. Obviously it's all subjective, but, in a world where there are still thousands of wannabe cartoonists whose dream is to be in the New Yorker even once, I have to say: What a waste of space.
