Substitute x=5/2+z and y=5/2-z into the second equation: (5/2+z)(5/2-z)=50 or 25/4-z^2=50 This yields z^2=-175/4 or z=±i(5/2)√7. Thus x=5/2+z=(5/2)(1±i√7) and y=5/2-z=(5/2)(1∓i√7)
