10:00 “He’s scared to come in because of Amanda” “Oh, okay so Amanda’s right there then” “We have to find Amanda” “But” One of the funniest moments in these kill counts
Fun Fact: during the pool/diving board scene, the actress playing Yvonne was suffering from food poisoning at the time, so shooting that scene was NOT fun for her.
I didn't like that they killed Dan off. Also, Nancy's death pissed me off too in Dream Warriors but that one I don't mind as much because it was actually kind of ballsy to kill her off and lets the movie end on a somber and bittersweet note.
Yeah but it was just Dan in this one, he wasn’t a great character to begin with. Nancy? Yes, that annoyed me. It doesn’t annoy me in this franchise as much tho. When they do it in final destination or Texas chainsaw, it does more.
Honestly Alice’s dad has one of the best redemptive arcs I’ve ever seen, he goes from being a drunk piece of shit, to a man completely broken by the loss of his son, to a loving and supportive father for Alice, he goes from berating her for no reason to straight up defending her from Dan’s shitty parents and every change feels genuine and earned, probably my favourite arc of Nightmare 4 and 5
I also like when he said that he hope Alice's baby is a boy because he missed hearing a boy around the house, obviously talking about Rick and reflecting on how he wish he was a better dad for Rick.
I think Derry was a town for Warner Bros executives because they only ever showed movies from that company. There wasn't any screenings of Indiana Jones or Ghostbusters.
sequels - that's why.. like how Candyman was reduced to generic slasher, Pinhead became braindead and Leprechaun just.. well.. guess Leprechaun remained the same batshit BS it always was.
13:08 "Robert Englund reflects on how far off the rails this series has gotten". Lol, I lost it at that part. It actually looks like he's thinking that.
@@malte291 Now, that you mention it, I should check out some first aid classes, including the Heimlich maneuver, and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation; chest compressions, and mouth-to-mouth/artificial respiration).
@@StarSurvivor98 The fact they even live as long as they did is a miracle when it comes to horror flicks. First rule of horror sequels is always kill off some or all of the survivors from the last film.
alucard624 Well their first appearance was in the third movie so that rule is right since all that survived in that one died in the fourth one unfortunately
I can never get over how Greta's mother looks more annoyed and angry that Greta is dying at the dinner table than actually concerned like a mother whose daughter is choking to death.
"Oh my dear lord, Freddy Krueger's on a skateboard" the reaction and delivery is golden! I love these videos so much! James is amazing (wish I could sleep)
damn, what a hot mess of a movie! also i can't believe i was wrong, on the elm street 4 video i commented on how i was sure alice was gonna bite it in this one since the final girls so far have ended up dying in the movie following their introduction lol
I usually am not the most active of horror movie watchers but there are several series that completely draw me in such as Friday the 13th (basically the whole series except like one of them were good IMO), Aliens, Predator, Child's Play, etc. You will like what you like though and I think we can all agree on respecting that. Even with your dislike of horror it seems you can still appreciate James' content so mad props on that.
I love going back to DeadMeat's early days to watch how much James has changed from the beginning to now. His sense of humour, his jokes and his confidence have only gone up. Kudos, James. Definitely my favourite RU-vidr.
because when the movie was made in California mc helmets weren't mandatory like they are now, there were commercials all the time about like motorcycle death insurance. Just like in the first nightmare on elm street movie they had the brain on drugs reference they broaugh back in ---Elm street #3, the Spencer guy before he killed him killed Johnnie depp with the frying pan because *this is your brain on drugs* was a common ad on TV
it is. It's on the Canadian "Media" VHS version of the movie. I bought one copy of the uncut movie and the "uncut" stuff wasn't really worth the 20-30 bucks for this USED VHS copy... BUT you can find them on eBay, but HIGHLY dobut you can get a hold of one that's brand new.
I will ALWAYS stand by the fact that technically Freddy didn't kill Dan. Dan fell asleep at the friggin wheel. Oh, Freddy was in the process of killing Dan with that awesome motorcycle scene, but Dan woke up just in time.....only to crash into a truck. Point is, had Freddy never existed, Dan would have met the exact same fate.
@@joshuaramon123 Exactly. Imagine if Freddy was never in the picture, Alice and Dan would tie the knot (get married)👰🏼🤵🏼💒🏩, Rick would be Dan's best man, Kristen would be Alice's maid/matron of honor, Greta, Yvonne, Debbie, and Sheila would be Alice's bridesmaids, and Joey, Kincaid, Mark, and Dan's best friend would be Dan's groomsmen; wouldn't that be romantic?♥️💗💕💞💖
I just realized super Freddy's design was based on Fawcett Comics Captain Marvel. Maybe homage to his victims immaturity as well as his sudden confidence.
In case you don't know who Captain Marvel is it's about a young boy who has super powers that are activated by him shouting Shazam turning him into a full grown man physically.
Super Freddy might suck, but the story behind how the scene was filmed as told by the stunt guy on the Never Sleep Again DVD is actually pretty cool. I also found out on there that the same guy was the body double for Dan in the opening love scene with the Alice character. My favorite part is when he mentions being asked how would you like to do a love scene and he responds "As Super Freddy?" not knowing exactly what New Line had in mind yet until they were ready to film the scene lol.
Freddy doing his Slenderman impression is pretty much a throwback to the first "Nightmare" where Nancy first encounters Freddy and he stalks/tortures her by stretching his arms out to impressive lengths to scrape the sheet metal fences on either side of him.
Bacon Hair it's bad because it's poorly written. It's bad because the dark gothic atmosphere was ruined by Freddy's terrible one liners. It was piss poor all around.
Another great video as always! I have an odd nostalgic soft spot for "The Dream Child." This is the first "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie I watched. Not the full movie though, just from Mark's death sequence until about when Amanda reabsorbs Freddy into her. I was in 1st Grade at the time and at a family friends' house. It totally terrified me, I would sing "Koombyah" to myself at night for months to keep Freddy away. "My 6-year-old self was particularly traumatized by the bloody Greta Doll. I accredit it for giving me my lifelong dislike of dolls. My sisters had two porcelain dolls which reminded me of the scene for months after the fact. I still have a hard time enjoying this movie, not because it scares me, of course, but for the ungodly mess of a movie it actually is. The acting is terrifying too, I'm always sad to see Greta go as she always seemed the most capable actor of the bunch (which still isn't saying much).
I personally *loved* Freddy on the skateboard, it basically foreshadowed Craven's soon trip into the satirical horror genre with Scream. Having a villain that doesn't take himself seriously but still is able to make me shit myself and want to hurl and the deaths is a win in my books
Fun Fact: The actor who does Super Freddy, Michael Bailey Smith, would wind up playing Pluto in the Hills Have Eyes remake and another main villain in its sequel.
Dead Meat> Dude Biggest Fan Right Here. Today I was just hearing my favorite song Fiona Coyne and I hadn't seen the video and so I saw it and you were in it. Dude In your Part 2 of Answers and Questions, you have to tell us how the hell you were the star of that music video. Please man. I gots to know. If anyone hasn't check this out, please do. Its pretty good.
Can't wait to see your ranking video for this series. I really want to know where Dream Child and Freddy's Dead will end up for the bad movies lol. At least after Freddy's Dead there's New Nightmare to look forward to so that's a glimmer of hope for you. Can't wait till next week for the craziness thatvis Freddy's Dead! Keep up the good work!
I think there could have been a good horror movie here, using pregnancy or an unborn child as a means of causing nightmares. The execution was just awful here though. They should have approached this like Rosemary's Baby, but with Freddy. I have similar feelings about A Nightmare on Elm Street 2. Freddy being a representation of the fear of sexuality and coming out of the closet could have been amazing, but the execution was lacking.
Nate Alexander there could've been if Freddy's constant one liners didn't constantly clash/ruin the dark gothic atmosphere. As you mentioned it, this movie had some really adult things it could've used successfully.
@@jaredcoleworld3650 No, it’s my least favorite because of annoying white guy Mark and little Jacob Kruger! “I wanna learn stuff from you!” That line is pure cringe! 😂
@@jaredcoleworld3650 no people hate it cuz it sucks. By that logic people should hate Nightmare 3, but they don’t, it’s a fan favorite actually. Some people including myself like it more then the first. Stop making everything about race
This is actually my most favorite Nightmare on Elm Street film. IMO Freddy's absurd way of being and sense of humor with a complete disregard for who he's killing is pretty terrifying. I mean you're literally going to die and the guy killing you is joking and having a good time? I'd be scared.
Nightmare 5 always had one of my favorite Killls. I mean C'mon... Freddy rides a Skateboard... DEFINITELY a huge inspiration on me growing up. I'm still Skating and watching Horror Movies... haha ThAnks Freddy 💯💯💯👍👍👍👏👏
