They call New Line "the house that Freddy built," and they definitely do acknowledge there'd be no Lord of the Rings without Freddy, which is awesome. In fact, Peter Jackson wrote a script for part 6 and his idea would have been a million times better than the garbage fire Freddy's Dead ended up being.
@philthemovieguy81

As outlandish and fictional as this plot seems, Writer/Director Wes Craven actually based the idea of these kids dying in their sleep on the newspaper article of the L.A. Times about a family who escaped from Cambodia and came to the US and their son started having nightmares that someone was after him. So he started staying awake for like days at a time. Until one night he finally fell asleep, his family was relieved, and suddenly they heard screaming from the kid's room. When they finally got to him, he was dead.

As for the gray hair....it's sort of a "myth" that severe stress/trauma can instantly turn your hair gray...However, in the last year of so, there has been evidence found that severe stress/trauma CAN turn your hair gray, but not instantly or overnight and that this physical response IS a reaction to our flight or fight response system...It takes at minimum a few weeks...

So.. here is a theory : The movie title is "A" Nigthmare on elm street, not "NightmareS" on elm street... and when we first met the whole youth gang, the shot is introduced by the little girls singing the Freddy's rhyme, which in all their other appearances mean this is a dream. So was all the movie a single dream ?

In real life, Robert Englund is one of the nicest actors in Hollywood and really enjoys his fans. When I met him, I had a movie poster for him to sign, but it wasn't any of the Elm Street films.. It was when he was in Phantom of the Opera and he was genuinely impressed. I also had an 8x10 of him as "Willie" in the series "V".

I saw this in the theater when I was 7. Begged my dad to take me, offered to pay for it with my allowance. I was like "I've seen Geemlins 13 times, I'm ready". We get to the theater, walk in during Tina's first dream (after the glove titles) and I panic... I run for the doors, my dad grabs my arm and said "Nope.. you dragged me out here.. were watching this. Close your eyes if you're scared" - 80s parenting folks 😎 but hey, it made me the horror fan I am.

In 1988, there is a television anthology series called Freddy’s Nightmares where the character Freddy Krueger narrates different tales of terror. The pilot episode “No More Mr. Nice Guy” depicts the events of Krueger's trial, and his subsequent death at the hands of the parents of Elm Street after his acquittal.

It's honestly a bit hard when it comes to recommending the sequels. *Nightmare 2 is more a spin-off than a sequel but is quite dark in tone. *Nightmare 3 is a direct sequel to 1 and usually regarded the best of the sequels. *Nightmare 4 follows 3 but is the turning point where Freddy really starts spouting his one liners. *Nightmare 5 follows 4 but despite some interesting ideas it is where the quality starts to drop. *Nightmare 6 is another spin-off and universally seen as the worst in the series (it is the low point of the franchise and I would not recommend) *New Nightmare is seen as the other best sequel and has a very meta story that was the groundwork for Scream (I personally wasn't a fan, but I'm just one person) *Nightmare 2010 is a reboot of the original but apart from making Freddy more of a monster, it is inferior to the original. I guess, if you're interested in following one storyline, watch 1, 3, 4 and 5, If you're interested in the franchise as a whole, watch all except for 6 and 2010

I do highly recommend watching the rest of this movie series at some point. The 2nd sequel "A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge" isn't as good as the rest. In 2010, a remake of the first film was released, starring Rooney Mara as Nancy. Anyway, the movie is crap and don't bother to watch it, I can only tell you that the actor who played Freddy in that movie was the same actor who played Rorschach in Watchmen.

Honestly wasn’t that bad of a film, had sum interesting new elements it tried to introduce too like the phantom sleeping (i think it’s called), the gore was great too, and the actor who played Freddy and Quinton (can’t remember if that’s his name) did great. The thing that weighed down the film heavily was that it tried to be a shot-to-shot remake, if it was a little different then it coulda been a solid film.

Freddy feeds on fear. Think of it like Coco, if nobody remembers him he has no power. When Nancy was no longer afraid he couldn’t hurt her. If you take a look at Cosplay Chris, he’s a major Freddy fan and one video visited the filming locations of the first movie. He has a blueprint of the glove autographed by the designer and by Robert Englund

Wes Craven always had a fascination with booby traps. They even show up in the movie The Last House on the Left his very first movie. He also always had a fascination with dreams an the real world. In a deleted scene when Nancy goes into the basement with her mother. Her mother says every kid on Elm Street had a brother or sister. That includes Nancy as well but Freddy Krueger killed them. About the sequels if you want to I say go for it but keep in mind that Nightmare on Elm Street 2. Is the Black Sheep of movie franchise literally in a documentary about Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. The movie studio even admits that fact. They openly admit it's weird and it makes no sense whatsoever what they did with Freddy Krueger. They Admit that the movies director went way off track. For some reason and they do not know why he made all decisions and choices did. Thats why New Line asked Wes Craven to come back an make the 3rd. Movie to get Nightmare on Elm Street back on track to correct. What the director did in the second movie then New Line made sure it stayed on track. With Freddy Krueger's powers and limitations that he had in this first movie. Wich the director of the second movie. Completely ignored and changed them for whatever reason in the second movie. But Wes Craven fixed it then New Line made sure. Freddy Krueger had the same powers and limitations as this movie. Up till Wes Cravens New Nightmare but the power changes make actual sense in that movie.

One of Wes Craven’s other films worth a look is the original The Hills Have Eyes. NoES includes an Evil Dead reference (Nancy watches it trying to stay awake) because Sam Raimi included a torn Hills Have Eyes poster in the first Evil Dead. Sam Raimi later included Freddy’s glove in the background in Evil Dead 2.

Hi Tim ! You will read all kind of comments about the sequels. Many different opinions about which ones are good or crap. The only real advice I could give, is to make your own opinion by watching them, and not let you influenced by the majority. It seems that in the U.S. at least, the 3rd one is the most appreciated amongst the sequels, and most people denigrate the remake. I actually found the remake very good, it's my third favorite entry in the franchise after the original one, and Wes Craven's New Nightmare (the 7th movie). And as I loved the 3rd when I was a teenager, nowadays I'm much more critical towards it, and consider it still better than 2 and 5 that are the only opuses I don't like, but not as good as 4 and kinda even with 6. All that to say that evrybody has it's own ranking, that I will watch if you decide to react to all of them, but won't be pissed if you don't. Just do as you pleased, and make your own opinion !

Wes Craven's New Nightmare is pretty decent and worth watching but others not so much. Freddy vs Jason if you're up for a laugh cuz its is more of a comedy rather than a horror lol

Gotta do the series just can't do one. Part 2 was the one well that I dont know that one just kinda sits outta place for me. Especially since parts 1, 3,4,&5 are all connected with each other through reoccurring actors and having those actors also introducing newer ones

You should definitely watch the whole series it is really great even though the last few aren't as good as the first 4

For more lighthearted Halloween classics I also recommend you to check Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988) it's a dark comedy with elements of mystery)

As for the sequels. 3 (Dream Warriors) and Wes Craven's New Nightmare are good, the rest are skippable in my opinion (especially 2).

This was the last movie I saw that truly scared me when I was 16 or so. Wes Craven was so great, check out The Serpent and the Rainbow for another creepy ass movie.

Dude, I just really enjoy your voice. The French Canadian accent, if there is such a thing is remarkable. Also with no offense of course the way you say certain words gives me a bit of a chuckle.
