The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway has long been a favourite line of mine, with its picturesque scenery and steep gradients. I travelled there on Saturday 25th May, when a two train service was in operation. BR Standard 2MT 78022 and English Electric Class 37 37075 started the day, LMS Jubilee 45596 Bahamas taking over from the 37 at midday.
We start at Keighley, capturing 37075 thrashing out of the station on the first uphill run of the day. 78022 is then seen running round at both ends of the line from the platforms. Moving to the lineside at Keighley, we see the 2MT shunting and departing, the loco's bark echoing around the town. Next is my first shot of Bahamas, drifting past the coaches.
I then travelled down to Haworth and walked to a footpath that runs from Ebor Lane towards Mytholmes Tunnel in order to see 78022 pounding up the 1 in 90 gradient. My next shot was going to be at Oakworth but I decided to stay in Haworth and walked to a field the other side of the station. 45596 is seen getting into its stride having traversed the 5MPH speed restriction for the repairs to Bridge 27.
I finished the day back at Keighley, where the Jubilee runs forward after taking on water. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to capture the departure so we end the video there.
Onboard footage from both steam services will follow shortly.
