Nord you really need to give Jack a Stage 4 he's made the Stage 4 updates more understandable than any other video I've seen. I went from not that impressed with the Stage 4 to after watching Jacks video on it now considering buying one. Do yourselves a favor Nord give Jack a Stage 4 of his own he's your best salesperson.
Yes give it to him for real as he does major PR as far back as prior to it’s release-he took a WHOLE TRIP to SWEDEN and did VIDEO ✈️PR-- come on. Let him have it!! Let us know too Jack!! Great job on doing your homework on this bad boy
I immediately saw how much possibility this new nord has. I myself am an owner of stage 3. But this one is opening so many sound possibilities that were not nearly oossible on the last one. People saying its a lot bigger price but us owners of nords know that this is i can say the biggest improvement in one generation nord has ever got
@@josipbosnjak6808Goddamn don't be saying that, I'm considering a Stage 3 at the moment because I could get an amazing deal for it. Don't upsell me, oh the wallet pains 🙈
How Dan is partying it is my whole purpose and beyond for getting it-- nothing out here like it yo-- gives us what we’ve never had and hadn’t thought to imagine
That section around 20 min when the Arp, Pad and piano comes in was just amazing. If I could play like that I would buy one of these in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I would also have to buy a Jack to programme it every time I played 😂
I am a drummer from Norway, but I watch all of the videos with Jack because of the amazing playing and musicianship.... Extra bonus when Dan is there too... I think I've watched every video since the Roland piano that Jack was "rubbing provocatively" and sang the Peter Gabriel song through the built in harmonizer back in the day 🙂 Keep up the amazing work...!!!
Have had a couple of Nord Stage's an older EX followed by my current Stage 2 88. Love these things, my Stage 2 is now 10 years old and still going strong. The ability to add your own samples and for them to remain in memory ready to be used again on power up is brilliant but often overlooked!
I came here to listen to the new keys but ended up just listening to the great playing and also fun to see the other guy getting excited about showing him all things he loves about it….it’s a rare occasion he’s normally a bit lost with synths😅
Jack i think you forgot to tell him about the pump effect but no problem this video felt like kids playing with their new toys with so much joy I loved it and really am jealous that I have not played a Nord yet so yeah 😅
the only major issue is the keybed, it's made by Fatar. There are so many players that complain about the action breaking down and getting noisy after a few months. They need to upgrade it asap. The price is way too high without a high end action.
Wow!! I’m an average guitar player who recently subscribed to this channel after seeing Jack play with the TPS band. This video shows two good mates , geeking out about some crazy new gear. Both Jack and Dan are loving the new Stage 4. Dan’s playing is sublime. Beautiful, stunning sounds bought to life by a competent musician. Thanks fellas.
1) time for lottery tickets and 2) everyone needs Jack at their gig to adjust controls : ) and lastly, finally the 'Desert Island' synth is here. The one keyboard you could be stranded with at a desert island cabana gig and take requests. Will Nord ever add Polyphonic Aftertouch?
Very nice video - as always with Jack! I tested a 4 today myself for a couple of hours and found it brilliant if you don't have a Stage 3. If you have one I cannot really see the advantages of the 4 as being so big FOR THAT ASKED PRICE! Let alone the months and months and months of intense work to create exactly those many sounds I want and need in my band. Jack - keep up there good spirit!
I tried this today. I want one. I went to the showroom wanting to compare three pianos, did not even play the other two. The action has been the thing that put me off with my stage 2, but this is definitely another world. The Nord Grand is slightly better, but you loose such a lot. I would say this action is in my top 5%. Hammond, I own an A100 and a Hammond SKX Pro. I have been struggling to get the Whiter Shade of Pale Sound out of the SKX, but on this Nord it was easy. What I really liked is the way this keyboard is laid out, I got on with it right away. Checking out the EPs, they all sounded very similar to me, but then I realised that I need to apply fxs to get the most out of them, I was trying to get Riders of the Storm from the Rhodes, but so far have not succeeded. The tremolo was not right. That’s not to say it can’t be achieved.
Faders would be a "game changer" if there would be a possibility to change their behaviour from "jump" to "catch" or at least "relative". Nice presentation anyways, thanks!
thanks for the amazing analysis, your videos are top notch ... my Stage 4 is on the way! What is your suggestion for "best" speakers for home practice/studio use. I have a set of The Nord Factory speakers...very good, but not great...
I loved that guys playing. You get me on a nord and I’ll tear those keys up!! I use the kawai mp7se i know it’s nothing compared to the nord but hey still fun to play! I’ve played on the nord stage 2 a while back at my church, and i do have someeeeee nord expierence lol😂😂😂 Nice demo!!! The arpeggios are wild!
I guessing that as you spend more and more time with the 'unison' and dyn comp options its going to be difficult to go back to a standard keyboard and remember to use your own dynamics etc....a bit like going back to a map after a few years of sat nav !...its an amazing bit of kit though :)
Still fun tho that about same time as they introduce the new Stage 4 models, Yamaha showed of the CK series .. ok granted it's not on the same level edit wise or quality wise, but basicly now mere mortal home users can get a Nord stage for 1/3 the price of club Red 😘
The sounds and effects are great. Curious as to the speakers/sound system being used (it would be nice to see this as part of the description for each of these videos - know that listening through RU-vid is not a 'true' sound but still would be nice to know what is being used, as well as thoughts on those systems as well as the keyboards).
A really nice instrument but it seems to need someone to do the controls and sound changes while playing, it needs a Jack to make it really come alive and shine.
The strings on Nords sound incredible! A fantastic example of them is The Return by Kamaal Williams. That is all played on his Electro 6. Sounds absolutely gorgeous.
I hope the dynamic compressor works as I wish other sampled piano libraries would, where you can reduce the extremes of the volume range to not have too soft or sudden popping out of notes, but still have the timbral changes of the sample layers change across the normal velocity range. Even better would be the ability to fine tune the velocity switch point for each layer according to user’s preference instead of only selecting from preset response curves. This is why I’ll always prefer Motif/Montage/Fantom architecture over less tweakable keyboards.
6:26 could you clarify if this is indeed a velocity-adjuster or if it's just evening out the volume of the samples? Velocity-adjustment would be quite redundant
I love how all this stuff is been on all the other keyboards for ever and it's such a big deal for nord users. Nevertheless it sounds nice and dan is a great player.
there are several more features in this Nord Stage than in the Yamaha YC, they are at two different levels, but unless you need a real synthesizer on board, the price difference maybe is not justifiable
Nord’s pianos sound better (has the resonance of pedal down samples among other things). Nord organ sounds better. More synth options. Pitch bender is way better to use (if you try it you’ll understand. More resistance, better ergonomics, and starts bending with even a tiny amount of pressure. Feels like bending a guitar string. Those might not sound like a lot of reasons, but there’s more and at the end of the day sound and feel are what matters. Nord is worth the extra money
As absurd it is, I understand why these stage models are so damn expensive it is. Friend of mine own a stage 1, the build quality is so good, it's still in a perfect condition without any maintenance involved. The cost of making sure each component using top quality stuff and have them handmade is more expensive than putting in fancy feature that make the specs looks impressive.
@@tuneunleashedyeah that’s just an ugly aspect of economics. Inflation is bad bc it makes it harder to earn a living, but you shouldn’t automatically expect businesses to adjust their profit margins. Supply and demand might have the power to do that, if no one buys this keyboard (people will buy it). I’m just saying that adjusted for inflation, it’s basically the same price. The stage 3 88 was released in 2017 for $4499. Adjusted for inflation that’s $5,521 in 2023 money.
I'm sorry but I would have to disagree with the Dynamic Comp control on the Nord Stage 4. To me it sounds useless. Okay for someone with poor technique, it could be useful, but in the majority of cases, if it's more like a velocity adjuster then that would completely nullify sheet music that would require you to play a song or parts of a song in a certain way. Absolutely LOVE the cathedral reverb though. Sounds beautiful.
