uk barn finds have a 1953 austin a30 which hasn't run for 52 years! they had no compression, turns out some of the rockers were seized! with a bit of atf fluid and a soft mallet they managed to make it run! so whip the rocker cover off turn engine by hand to see how many rockers move, before you make a decision on it's future! have a good xmas alex x
Great video Alex as per and sense of humour! Glad you got a car for the meantime! Sorry, you do make me chuckle a lot, when you said about someone somehow finding your address and you said “a bit alarming” then you carry on like normal! 😂 Never change Alex, your funny and enjoy watching you tinker with the cars! Catch up soon!
Congratulations on your milestone Alex, it is well deserved kind sir! I believe the Peugeot 104 needs to go to a home that is willing to get it properly diagnosed and running, it needs to be saved. Poor George needs a going over as well, so unfortunate that he will need another engine. Most likely a replacement engine will revive him, but a teardown of his current engine would be nice just to see what is causing his current condition. Wishing you and your significant other a very Happy Christmas!
And a very merry happy Christmas to you and your camera shy partner! Loving your channel - you have a wonderful manner and humour, very understated Have a good Christmas - I'm sure your cars and finances will improve in the new year
Those engines were in quite a few cars, but I think you might have trouble getting one. They are vulnerable to head gasket failure. The hard part is getting the engine out, but I think I’d get it sorted rather that hoof about trying to get a new one. I’d definitely get a temperature gauge fitted to so it doesn’t overheat again! It’s worth doing though. There are so few left! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Alex, go and have a mince pie and a small sherry or two. All will be clearer in the New Year, remember “If you’re not having fun, you’re doing it wrong” (Statement only applies to hobbies and recreational activities).
Happy Christmas & Thankyou so much for your video’s. Sorry the fleet are been challenging, but at least the Fiat will be used during worst of the salty roads in January & February & keeping George Salt free. Look forward to your video’s in the New Year
All the best for Christmas. Put some oil down the plug holes and retry compression test. I know the feeling of having to buy a car this time of year. Iv just had to buy an Agila (Grim) to get me over the winter
Hello Alex, it's Alex. Love your videos. You are my go-to channel when I'm free to watch something. Love the zooming in on your face haha. I hope George will be ok. I thought Peggy was overheating the other day. Turns out it was just a shit seal on the expansion tank cap and it was letting it boil over. I cleaned the bottle and cap and now all sealing well + pressure is good. Poor Peugeot..... poor compression on all 4? Hmm..... as others have said, try and see if all the valves are moving as should. . . Take care Alex. Hope 2024 is good to you and your fleet. X x
Hope you get geoege sorted Alex,he's worthy!the 104 is a problem car and might be a bridge too far having to strip the engine? The seicento is a nice little motor ans we tide ypu over for a few months I'm sure!
I'm a fan of all things fiat. Your seicento looks mint. I've had 2 cinquecentos for years as a hobby to tinker with and drive. These cars are brilliant and i bet you've a smile on your face as you drive the seicento 😊
Regarding low compression on 104.its possibly stuck valves.failing that it will be rings seized in pistons, common with standing seized engines.both can be fixed,no need to remove or replace engine.
Blimey that fiat is grim….. at least get a yellow one with a red door…. Bad news on George I’d be checking the head on the Pug, valves are possibly stuck open. But this time of year it’s zero fun working on cars.
Give the Peugeot a tow see if it can get a bit of heat in to motor,i would imagine the compression issues are valve related, is there any way you can put a boroscope through the plug holes to have a look? Merry Christmas Alex.
Its currently stuck on my driveway, and missing the link rod from the gear lever to the gear selector fork, so towing isnt an option sadly. Currently trying to source parts. Merry Christmas to you too :)
I wouldn't be to alarmed about people working your address out. I do it for fun, get a few pointers and google map to confirm. I will see you tomorrow. lol😂
104 suggestion: EV conversion. It was a very smooth riding car but those rattly engines let the side down somewhat so why not fit the ultimate smooth engine?
