@Edie Bouvier It didn't work out and I ended up losing my license - ban nearly up. I've got my drinking down to once a fortnight, and only a half bottle, so I'm working on it. From someone who could smash down 2 liters in a 3 day weekly binge, That's a huge improvement! Thank you for asking, all the best :)

After deciding that my alcohol addiction is such a massive problem for so many years. I decided to call for help and sat to listen about the 12 steps. This was exactly what I needed to listen to at this point in my life. Thank you so much.

I am teaching "Breathing Under Water--Spirituality and the 12 steps" by Richard Rohr for my Soul Sisters Group at Johns Creek UMC, and I wanted to find out the 12 steps. Thank you for a beautiful witness. I watched the entire message. I don't know if you list the 12 steps on your website, but I had to stop the video a lot to write them down. This is the whole message that I want to share with everyone--and we are ALL ADDICTED to something. Thank you Tommy for sharing your life. Very Beautiful.

God man you get me fired up. You're energy is infectious and you're so inspiring. I relapsed with drugs and gambling recently, lost everything I've been building for months and enough is enough. I went to 2 meetings before, got overconfident and thought i could handle a "little bit". CA and GA once a week each from today, for real. Tommy binges in the evening. Thank you

Thank you for this video. It helped me today. i'm coming back after a long miserable relapse, I came back and praying to keep my willingness to get through the steps; my life depends on it. Your words made sense to me. I really appreciate it. Best wishes, Especially the first step Yeah, i had less power than was needed. The way you put that and other things you said were perfect. I'm down to do the 5th on thursday and i been putting this off forever. I don't want to drag it out or worse, avoid it.

Im so secretive, and so private with my addiction, its embarrasing, and makes me feel like im not who i should be. How would you convince such a shy person to ever want to socialize, or be apart of a recovery community. I dont know how to like myself anymore, and im scared of not liking myself without it. Ive had an on and off addiction to marajuana and nocotine for 10 years. Absolutely struggling to get over it. I keep trying to let it go, its ruining my life, but nothing seems to work and it just gets worse every year. I want to try again, but its so challenging. Im hoping this method helps me heal.

Rose Poppy, Check out an online meeting here: r20.com/meetings You don't have to say anything and you can simply listen and take in what people are going through. You will quickly learn that you are in the right place and hopefully can share a bit if only to tell people you are new and are interested in being free. With Love, --Tommy

Yes, when the spiritual melody is worked out, the mind and body will fallow. The first 164 page's contain the original 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. I highly recommend sticking with the book. Yes, after more than fortyfive year, them 12 step still work. I still see the miracle in each and every one that completed the 12 step work as in the book, yes a fantastic way of life it is! Bill W. and Dr Bob should go down in history with more recognition...

Thank you! Dr Bob did not have much to do with the production of the Big book though, it was mostly Bill W and some Hank P. The whole Akron fellowship (Oxford group at that time) were actually pretty sceptical to the idea of the book. I recommend the excellent book Writing the big book by William Schaberg for an exciting and informative study of how the Big book came to be!

Launch and load the long version of the 12-Steps Y'all ! Please share the 12 responsibly. Yes, there's not a person in the world who doesn't have a challenging life issue. (My latest opinion.) But get some higher wisdom before sharing,, don't slam the steps on people !

The 12 steps were taken in principle from the Oxford Group. AA owes it's life to the Oxford Group and it should be noted. The Oxford group took it from the Bible.

@Brockt87
@Brockt87 3 года назад
Yes! Check out the 12 promises. The most important thing is to put ur heart & soul into the 12 steps...and find a really good sponsor to help u w the process so u experience the “spiritual awakening” ...which is basically just a huge psychological, mental emotional, & physical shift in ur life where u gain control over urself & ur life & virtually everything changes for the better. It’s absolutely amazing & doesn’t seem to require a spiritual belief system at all, but it’s so worth putting the work in and basically creates a life worth staying clean/sober for...otherwise what’s the point ?😉 Without doing that people are just “dry drunks” or clean addicts. A.A. was founded on have that life transforming experience & recovering, then helping others. The thing is most of us become in control 99.99% of the time...as long as we avoid & control major triggers. We all have a moment every few years or so where we are so stressed hurt or angry we would use drink etc. it was right in front of us. It’s a good idea to go to meetings long term-once a week is fine for many of us, sponsor others ideally or do something else to help people in addiction. This is key, bc it reminds us of all the bad things we would otherwise forget in a bad moment...and we have others depending on us. Those 2 things are an obsolete game changer. It’s also so important to talk to others in recovery & have multiple people u can call wo it being ackward if u’ve had a fucked up day. Even if u have 10-20 years those steps extra are like a bulletproof vest...& the unthinkable can happen. Anyways, I sponsor people when I can and also do life coaching...which goes way beyond step work but seriously helps recovery as well as life character success etc If u, or others are serious about recovery & working the steps, and preferably have at least 60-90 days u can leave ur email, or how to find u on FaceBook messenger etc. and I’ll try to reach out whenever I see this.

Too bad it isn't true freedom from all addictive behaviors that you find in the rooms. Over ingesting coffee and smoking a pack of cigarettes a day is the majority of those you find. Would be awesome if this was truly a spiritual path like you lay it out, but it is sadly not what is shared or what you see. What a different world it would be...
