Being a fan of classic pickup trucks, choosing 125 photos of classic pickups from around the world was no tough task. In this photo collection I've drawn together photos of old pickups & small/mid-sized dropside trucks seen at shows, museums, road runs and the occasional hedge. Many of the classic pickups featured are in wonderfully restored, like new, condition, while others are in their original "working clothes" and showing their age. The majority of the antique pickups are up-and-running, the remainder sit quietly, hoping for restoration.
Makes and models featured in this classic pickup and/or dropside truck collection include one or more of the following vehicles:
Morris Minor (6cwt/8cwt pickups), Series 3 half-ton pickup, J2, J-Type tipper
Bedford PC Coupe Utility (or "ute"), CA pickup & CA tipper/pickup, CF Mk1 & Mk2, J1
Austin Mini 95, 12/4, A40 10cwt, A35, J4, half-ton

Land Rover Series 1 / 2 / 3, Forest Rover conversion, fwd control 101, Defender

Absolute beauties, all of them. The Mini's were a sight to behold. Considering their size and engine cc there was an awful lot of room. Thank you for these.

That Bedford ute at the start was a great car to go sight seeing in.. It was so slow you wouldn't miss a thing. They wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. Cheers 🥂

Wonderful collection of commercial vehicles and thankyou no musical background to compete with your dulcet tones. Finally the Vangard utility very popular in Adelaide with guy's in the building trade especially with us £10 Pommes gave the Golden Holden a run for their money and the fact that " The Guardsvan had a chassis and the Aussies were Monocoque meant that " The mudguard," Could.carry a lot more Gear Its wasinto early 1980s That Holden manufactured The Holden One Tonner flat bed.. built like a brick Outhouse 4wd i think..

Glad you liked it Pic NZ, sometimes I have to drop a background tune in just to mask an annoying noise that the PC sometimes makes during recording. The trials of Youtubing eh!?!!! :-)

I can confirm that my Dodge at 12.46 is a 1941 WC12. They came in two versions, soft top and hard top cabs. Originally it was only the soft top version that was fitted with a PTO driven winch. This period Braden MU winch has been added since manufacture. These are powered by a 6 cylinder flat head engine. This Dodge is still in regular use on and around my home in North Wales

Studebaker trucks are rare in the USA too. Last one I saw was owned by someone who went to the Rebar bar in Seattle 20 years ago. Never got to see or meet the owner, just saw it parked.

The grey dodge power wagon that you called a wc51 would actually be a wc12 for 1/2 ton weapons carrier around 1941

In the later half of the 70's one of my employers had a J2 pick up with the 1500 B series diesel in ( legacy vehicle from another firm they bought) nigh ran on fresh air but was as slow as ditchwater and steering Charles Atlas would have struggled with, but it got the job done.

There were some minor discrepancies in the American pickups but I'm not going to nitpick. You just showed me so many offerings from other companies that I never knew existed that I'm more interested in going and finding out about them. Also the Studebaker and international pickups have gotten pretty rare around the US too

"International" are actually International Harvester. The "H" is prominent in the logo. They became the owners of Seddon Atkinson in 1974.

The grey Land Rover Series 1 pickup (@12.14) has a fairly rare pto fitted to the rear chassis! The driveshaft to this unit was routed through the rear crossmember, which is why the Series 1Land Rovers had the circular cutout through the rear crossmember! It should be born in mind that theLand Rover was conceived as a crossover vehicle for farmers, as a farm workhorse/tractor by day and family transport when off duty!

At 13.30, the pic of the military Humber was also bodied as the Humber Pig Armoured Car which saw extensive service in NI during the 'Troubles'. Having sold all the 'Pigs' off, the MOD proceeded to buy them back again some years later when they found that the replacement Land Rover proved unsuitable! Funnily enough, the MOD found the same problem when they introduced the lightly armoured Defender 110 Wolf versions proved totally unsuitable in Iraq & Afghanistan due to the use of roadside IED's! The Humber truck was built to a Military Specification which called for a 4wd truck powered by the Rolls Royce military engine series, which came in 4, 6, & 8 cylinder versions; the B40 was used in the Austin Champ and a small number of Land Rovers, the B60 was fitted to the Humber shown here and the 'Humber Pig' Armoured Car, and the B80 was fitted to the Saracan and Saladin Armoured vehicles, and an Aircraft Tractor for the RAF!

At 20.42, the pic of a Bedford CA also shows the rear view of a Ford Thames 400e in the distance! Elsewhere in this video there are a couple of pics of another such pickup which tells us that it is a 1958 Ford Thames 400e, as painted on the tailgate, this makes it one of the earliest examples of a 400e!
@johnrae4633
@johnrae4633 Год назад
Where the 400e in the distance in this pic, is one of the earliest, the very next pic is of a 1965 'C' reg version of the same, making it one of the last manufactured before the release of the all new Transit!

What a lovely lot of pickups. I wasn't expecting to see my Barkas B 1000 when I displayed it at the NEC with the IFA club in 2018 I think. Could this be the only two stroke pickup in your line up? Great video keep them coming 👌.

The Bedford at the start brings back memories, not necessarily good ones. Bad brakes, bad gearshift, gutless. It went, that was about all, even during rain, which was better than the original Mini 850 imported by BMC Australia.
