Welcome to Black Opal Direct!
I've had a few fails and losses in the past month; cancerous potch and losing 40-carats of chunky rough to a pretty (but small) 1.70-carat opal to name a couple.
Being an opal cutter is a job that I love, but it can be draining when you seem to be on a roll... of losing. So, today I'm not going to stop until I win.
I've got three different rough opal pieces and I'm determined to get a winner out of one of them.

You amaze me every time. You are so talented!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing these gorgeous stones with us. There is something mysterious and magical about opals.

The first two would make a great matched pair of earrings!! And that last stone would be soooo sweet in a raised "floating" setting, allowing the light to really play thru it!! Wow!! It would twist & turn inside, & all the colours would sparkle with every single movement!! It would just totally dance!! So beautiful, so spectactular!! (Like standing at Niagara Falls & feeling the fine invisible mist on your face! Amazing!!) Hi!! Sue from Canada

Just subbed to you. Opals were my Mums favourite stones, and these you have shown are all gorgeous, the fire in them is amazing. I was an army nurse and while stationed in Hong Kong I bought my Mum quite a few pieces, so before Hong Kong I don't know where they come from, but they ended up in Scotland, she wore opals of some sort every day, I'm sure there is lots in heaven as surely that's where they started. ThAnks for showing these. x Ann x

It was suggested by RU-vid to view your channel. I was completely fascinated by your work from the 1st video and have nearly watched daily during the past months as you create these works of art one at a time.
