Great video. The voice over isn't overbearing and constantly fighting for my attention like a lot of modern youtube videos are, and your interest in weird and obscure games shines through all the same. Glad my recommendations popped this in my feed. That chicken coop minigame is pretty reminiscent of chu-chu rocket for the dreamcast! Seems like a fun clone for kids to play on a more popular console at least, and the life sim element is pretty cool considering it predates Persona 3 by 3 years, which popularized lifesims and day-night cycles as a gameplay mechanic largely. The network element is pretty awesome when you again consider how old of a title this was. Somewhere out there in 2003 there was a group of four friends who would hop on My Street nightly and just mess around. I think thats a nice concept to imagine.
I vaguely remember seeing this in a game store as a kid and having no clue what kind of game it was supposed to be. Thank you for answering my curiosity all these years later!
This was made by the same studio that made that Neopets game, and you can definitely tell similarities in the UI's design, and even the style of some of the models such as the buildings have a similar look to them. That and the character faces look like undercooked oatmeal. Even if that Neopets game was a glitchy mess, I'm actually kind of surprised at how decent it was, considering it was their first game of that sort.
I rented this from Blockbuster! I was young when i played this so i wasnt too familiar with the full premise or main story. I just thought it was neat you could go around and make friends.
