@@Aroramalika I have tried my best to capture what this film meant to me and how its Indian soul connected with me - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RG4p-S5mpyw.html&ab_channel=Tellable
If it would help, here is our analysis of the film tracing its Indian soul and Lean's brilliant writing ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RG4p-S5mpyw.html&ab_channel=Tellable
Alec Guinness so flawlessly played a perfect Indian character in the movie that I can't even distinguish He's my favorite actor for just one character obi wan kenobi from Star Wars in original trilogy
@MOUMITA , Pakistanis who enjoy fine cinema of David Lean indeed watch this. I’m Pakistani and I’m a film enthusiast of many countries. I watch Pather Panchali and the world of Apu many times. I even love Akira Kurosawa films and of course Marvel films lol
I never realised Alec Guinness played an Indian character. If I hadn’t read the cast, I would never know. The makeup is perfect. He doesn’t look like a white man at all.
A very entertaining British made movie with good old fashioned storytelling and excellent lead cast. One flaw ..I personally can't imagine why cast Alec Guiness in an Indian role with brown make up and an equally unconvincing Indian accent ..? Otherwise an excellent film that hasn't been seen on UK TV screens fior a very long time
@@prathameshdas1514 I think you misunderstand my comment .The part of Professor Godbole is played by Alec Guinness and he is wear brown make up and wearing traditional Indian attire ...He is miscast ......in my view.
@@malcolmjawohowelll2892 I watched the movie this evening. I am an Indian and yet I did not know the character of Prof. Godbole is played by a foreigner!!
You can hardly imagine how much I was disgusted by the british colonial attitude and the hysterical English girl, who harmed so badly Mr Aziz. Victor Banerjee was superb , dashing and deserved the oscar. Mrs Moore and James Fox largely compensated the british hypocrisy. I guess the movie was not that well appreciated in conservative british clubs and cercles.
