Unironically the dev actually has a lot of potential, some of the stuff in the game where very professional, and it was all very cinematic, he added a unique gameplay mechanic along with a relatively decent story. He just needs to develop his skills a bit more.
Jokes aside, you gotta give some credit to the Shankaram dev. There was a serious effort put into planning and making the intro sequence with all the cutscenes and gameplay elements incorporated into them. That car chase scene was pretty impressively orchestrated. They have no budget but they certainly have the spirit
@@hei7846 Bruh, "Can you do better" is not some got'cha instant win argument words, anyone can do better if the appropriate time and skills are put into it, but we don't judge this based on the skills of the developer but on the final quality of the product, which when compared with other products of game, is poopy. Also basically all engines come with reflection. But yes, the developer has spirit, and htat is commendable.

Yeah that's what I was saying to myself. This person had an idea and vision for the game. Just needed an actual way to get it out. I kinda liked the direction he was taking it
I really don't see how having more money would help all that much. What they need is experience though. Glad a game like this exists though and that people are talking about it. The dev hopefully will not let much of the praise people are giving this go to their heads, and hope they see some faults people mention instead to try and improve.
What a heartbreaking story for the developers of Shankaram. In any other time period, this game would be a sensation, easily sweeping GOTY, but it found itself competing with John Christian 2 and now it's an underdog.

The interesting part is taking over people's bodies. Other than that the quest design leaves much to be desired. "Stop 6 drug deals" is not good design, and leads to boring gameplay. The intro sequence was good, but the animations sort of killed it. I think even with money this would be janky as all fuck and still bad. Just because you throw money at something does not make it better. Maybe the person could hire some good people, but it still seems like they have a messy vision judging from how faceless some of the characters feel. And, before you say, "Why don't you make better games?" That is a very immature argument that makes you sound like a child. This game does have some heart, but they obviously need some work. Plus I am betting these assets are ripped from somewhere which is why the animations are janky. I would love to see this dev improve though! Hope they do.
As an Indian I can confirm that this game gives a very accurate description of our day to day encounter with law enforcement for not stopping on traffic lights

A good typing game like One Day (meaning an actual decent game) would be the Textorcist. You’ve got to type the words to the exorcism while the enemies fire a bullet hell of bullets at you.

I was so surprised to see some semblance of good action writing from the car chase scene, the fact you see the soldiers experience something when they get possessed and you see different ways they died and thus the main character has to find a new guy, it’s not half bad.
Spelling Action has made me think of The Textorcist. It's a bullet-hell writing game where an ex-priest does freelance exorcism, and you have to type down the prayers as you're dodging attacks. It would he an absolute banger to see Charlie try it ngl.
If there were speed runs for the pope spelling bee, there would be 2 categories. A. Try not to be molested by the pope, and the second would be first to uninstall the game

Shankaram is a beautiful game, From the graphics to the voice acting to the story it's perfectly made and I can't believe my puny human eyes that Shankaram isn't game of the year top of the charts.

Triple A games aren’t pumped out of random peoples basements. Big studios have access to millions of dollars and dozens of employees. And for what the game was, it had its moments and it had a lot of charm. Although not the best, it was a very good attempt.
Remember to pay attention to what's really going on in our world. Enjoy your entertainment on the side but don't sit there and focus on hoaxes like the "Will vs. Chris Slap" for more than 10 minutes or so. Save that 23.50 hours for self gain and research.
