That TV is older than me. I had a 1980s mitsubishi here and unfortunately it died on me, and there were no CRT repair shops around anymore and I'm not adventurous enough to mess with high voltage stuff like TV's. I have experience repairing electronics but I don't mess with anything that has AC lines and high voltage capacitors/flyback transformers. I've been bitten by them once or twice before and never want to experience that again. I hope this one you got lasts a long time. These TV's are going in landfills so fast now because if they tear up there really is no one left that is willing to repair them, or has the parts tools and experience. Sad indeed. I remember playing the original NES on a TV just like this in the early 90s.

You can still use that antenna. You just need a converter box for it.

In my desk setup, I use a smaller CRT as my second monitor. Funny enough, it's a smaller TV from the same line as this one! I always wondered what that "AFT" switch was for...

80’s child here. Showed this to my 4yo son after explaining to him that TV’s used to be big and boxy. He fell asleep. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. Didn’t know what some of those buttons were. Still don’t! Loved me some Super Mario Brothers. And Sonic!

You can use a old antenna with a digital tuner. People think the old antenna on there roof is useless which it isnt

Lovely. Those little spots on the case are probably mold or insect droppings ... yes, I said insect. I would have taken it apart and washed everything with hot water and dish soap and fuck the paint (although I must say I've never ruined anything like that).

This television set which is in colour would have been either in a bedroom or the main tv set for the living room which is rare, as the screen size would have been too small even for anyone in the 70s and 80s, a lot of people would have preferred a 22” to 26” inch screen for television viewing.

Retro all the way buddy retro is a lot safer too than modern crap even an Xbox 360 in 2023 will work I am tired of these expensive devices controlling our life. If affordable means downgrading I will do just that not lying thinking about salvaging a CRT TV myself would be nice to have retro vibes back.
