Please enjoy this personal tour of a Cinema we built in East Sussex, UK. Fifteen Burgundy Leather Cinema seats welcome you as you enter the room and get ready to watch the latest Movies, Live Sports and TV Shows. Images are provided by a Sony 4K Laser Projector onto a 150” Electronically Side Masking projector screen allowing for perfect masking when switching between 16:9 (1.77:1) and 21:9 (2.370:1) content. Switching between the connected sources is a breeze thanks to the Neeo Remote and the Control4 system. The 9.2.4 Immersive Artcoustic speaker system easily hits Dolby's recommend reference level of 105db allowing to access to modern sound formats like Dolby Atmos, DTS X and more.

I'm building my own cinema, and have checked out as many as I've found on youtube. Of course I accept that people have different tastes, but for me this is far classier than most. No fake 'theme'. Stylish, whilst also blacking out perfectly for watching movies. Although I would have hidden the side speakers, they are done nicely. Congrats.

Thank you for your comments. We did address the building out of the walls to cover the speakers, however this eat into the floor area of the steps so we left them on show. We now have a solution that can address this are will be fitting into our showroom soon.

This is definitely the kind of HT i'd like to be able to move towards ... perhaps on a budget :) I've had everything in boxes for "a few years" waiting for a room to take over since buying a BenQ 1070 and 130" motorised screen ... with nowhere to put it.

As others have stated, you have done marvellous job! 1) What room dimensions were given to your team when you started the project? 2) Could you tell me more about these wall-panels covered with dark fabric? 3) You wouldn't happen to have "behind the scenes" video of the masking system working? Everything comes together so well, simply amazing!

Thank you. The empty room was 5 metres wide by 7.2 metres long by 3 metres high. The wall system is fabric tracking with a Suede stretched across. If you watch the time-lapse video on our channel of another install, this was done the same. Check out Immersive Cinema Rooms on Insta and Facebook and you should find some build photo's we posted at the time (middle to end of 2019)

I have been watching a lot and a lot of Home Cinema Video, and Sir you have by far the most perfect (for me) home cinema room, when I will be older and richer I will defenitely took your home cinema for example, from the Sofa, by the color of the room end the screen size, this is so nice. Thank you for the insparation. (sorry for the mistake in english i done, I am French) Love from the frog country :D

Thank you. The room is 8 metres (L) x 5 metres (W) x 3 metres (H) and the risers where 300mm with the steps 150mm.

Hi, can you share info about viewing distance from first, second and third row to the screen, and how wide is the walkway between row 1 and 2 ? Thank you, and keep up the great job.

Thank you. The first row is at 2.9 meters, second at 5.2 and third 7.5. The walk way is around 1 meter.

This is exactly my dream theater. I wonder how the system handles movies with changing aspect ratios, like the Nolen films.

It is a great room. We love going back from time to time. The Masking Screen and Projector can read the Meta Data from the Kaleidescape and automatically adjust the masking. However this is a bit of a Marmite subject as some please hate it and would rather keep the aspect ratio the same.

Yep totally agree with you on that one,why does christopher Nolan always put Imax sequence in his movies for 4k releases..we don't have Imax tv's in our houses only 16×9 4k tv's.. And also brilliant job on the cinema room lads..come to australia and build my cinema room please...

It might be a bit of a Marmite question if one didn't have an OLED display! But of course with an OLED panel one is able to take full advantage of that cinematic display! So for OLED owners the thicker the black bars the better cinematic experience!

Hi, just wondering if your suede is very breathable? Suedes in my country are not breathable at all although it is synthetic suede, not genuine cow suede leather.

B&W make some excellent speakers, as do many other brands. The key for us when designing a cinema room is not to start with a product, but to start with the space. Designing the correct system for the space, and the brief, allows us to work to industry standards. This ensures the correct speaker is used for the distance back we’re sitting, and if we’re able to hit the 105db levels. We’d argue that if any speaker can reach these parameters, then it is a suitable products and then it will come down to preference and, of course, budget. If the product cannot reach these parameters, then it's probably not the right speaker for the project. It may be an excellent speaker, but maybe better suited to a smaller room, or a hifi system where the dynamics range isn't (arguably) quite as crucial. We used the Artcoustic speakers here as they easily exceeded all the industry parameters for a cinema, and we love the sound too.

Thank you. It took use around 2 months total to complete. But the project was on for around a year start to finish as we where waiting on other trades to complete their elements.

Clean looking setup. Just curious, why are the back surround speakers so far apart and so close to the corners?

Thank you. They are positioned according to Dolby's recommended placement for speakers. When we start every project we take a plan of the room and overlay a document we have created based on the clients main seating position. This the shows us recommend screen size and speaker placement based on multiple type of speaker configurations.

Lovely room. What wallpaper is being used here? I presume it is some form of textured paper or is it an actual stretched fabric?

Hi, it's actually stretched fabric with acoustic treatment behind. You can use fabric in Cinema, Media Rooms and we are starting to do many more rooms as a feature wall or surrounding a TV screen.

Cheers. Yes they are. The walls where framed out with wooden battens and fabric tracking and then the fabric was stretched across.

I love automasking, but what do you do with the movies that change aspect ratios mid movie? And what about when they do the subtitles in the letterboxes?

It depends on the client. Some will just leave it in one aspect ratio and just deal with the black bars. Others (and what we did here) is tell the Projector to read the Meta Data from the Kaleidescape and automatically adjust the Masking Screen.

Obviously a completely black room made from non reflective fabric would be best, but that would not very nice to be in. We always do our screen walls in Black to give you no perceivable boarder around the screen when on, and in this case the walls work really well. It's finding that blend on a good Movie Room and a nice room to be in.

@@aaronaaron1611 as long as you are not using a bright colour and you are in a dark room, darker Greys, Purples, Red. Greens etc will usually disappear once a movie is playing and the lights are off.

Is there enough space around the projector for it to "breathe"?

Yep. The area behind and above the Projector is open so air can circulate around the unit. Also most projectors are front venting so the heat is dissipated out the front.

The Artcoustic speakers are great as they do not need massive amps to power them, but easily hit 110db in this set up. Here we are using a Denon AVC-X8500H and two Artcoustic Sub Amps.

How are you gonna watch like this? Is it through online streaming or physical media? If it's streaming then it's quite pointless to build such a home theatre because online streaming's audio are mostly compress....

The client used SkyQ for Sports etc, but his main source is Kaleidescape where he purchases movies Digital in uncompressed full fat versions of the films. There is a video on our channel explaining Kaleidescape if you have never come across it before.

Kaleidescape is better than actual 4K disc. 4K discs can and are compressed compared to the master file of the film. Kaleidescape receives the master file .
