Golden Lion for Best Film - Winner at the 71st Venice Film Festival official trailer for A Pigenon Sat On A Branch Reflecting On Existence - En duva satt på en gren och funderade på tillvaron
That's a mistranslation. They're not saying "I'm happy to hear" - but they're saying "´how nice to hear". It does not mean that they're happy, but rather that they're trying to play their part of a society in which everyone is expected to feel happy, bot for themselves, and for others. If you watch the whole film, this becomes quite obvious.
I approach his films with a great deal of anxiety - it helps to be in the right place to experience these challenging compositions playing havoc with emotions. Frame of mind plays an important role in whether or not you will be in awe or disturbed (probably both) by this guy's vision. One unique auteur.
Found this randomly as a new film To rrent . . . Don't normally go for foreign films, I miss what is happening reading the subs, I need to watch them twice to piece them together lol. But this I will, looks cool.
Just saw the film. The song you hear in this trailer is by Bjorn Isfalt...it's called Zandahl's Kanon. I actually got in touch with Roy Andersson's production company about it, and they say there's no soundtrack available.
I just woke up from a dream and I was in the backseat of a car, and a big fat man was leaning his big sweaty face head in through the car window and talking to me. His name was Hassan.

+ARTDeco111 Agreed! It may be complicated by the fact that Bjorn Isfalt is deceased, so any release may have to go through his estate. Going to see if I can contact any company or label he has worked with about it. The piece is stuck in my head.
Felt more like an Ingmar Bergman meets Eugene Ionesco with Monty Pyton sketches with Dali + Buñuel dreamlike surrealism. Images are like a living painting.
It's satire, dark comedy, and the grotesque. Watch the two video essays on Roy by the RU-vid channels Film Qualia and Beyond the Frame, and you'll understand him better. Beyond the Frame even titled the essay "The Magnificent Anders(s)ons", comparing Roy and Wes. The one by Film Qualia is more interesting however, in my opinion, with more focus on why Roy's films look the way the do, however.
If you can't judge whether or not you want to watch a film by it's trailer then whats the point in even having trailers..? I'm sure i'd understand it just fine thanks.
Emma Harrop The main point of trailers is to get people curious so they'd watch the film and understand it better. The trailers today that show the whole story isn't good, what's the point of having 2 hr films if you can just show us the whole story in the trailer? I'm sure you're not gonna like this film seeing that you judge films by their trailers, it's probably too deep for you.
I have seen all three of the films in Roy Andersson's trilogy. He's not for everyone. But for those who like melancholy balanced on the knife-edge of comedy, he is a pure genius. I am one of those people. I can not wait to see what he will do next.
