It's not just about the horror of potentially drowning in a sea of carnivorous rats. A Plague Tale is also a surprisingly pretty and well told story about two children attempting to survive in a plague-ridden 14th century France.
It's a mix of puzzles and sneaking and babysitting your younger brother Hugo, who isn't exactly trained in the art of stealth.

It started with a spicy rat caper and ended with skeletons everywhere and now Amicia and Hugo's parents are dead they are orphans. I know from watching this channel that skeletons and orphans don't mix.

This video made me realise it too for some reason! I think because we'd just recently had the shot of the big bad (presumably) with his little dark souls-eqsue slit. It finally hit me like, oh, OF COURSE they have no peripheral or hearing! Helmets. Probably because I'm the kind of person who toggles helmets off if it's an option or designs characters without them when I'm drawing or dnding or even imaginging for my own writing.

14:20 That should not have worked. He should have seen the jar passing in front of his eyes and been able to tell where it was thrown from. I guess the only reason he didn't is because video game AI. 24:30 That seems a little finicky, but I guess it would take more time to program it so it calls it good with the side to the wall, so you have to spend another 22 seconds positioning it the way the game wants you to. 27:30 You caused some Foley-age, so now you can get into the foliage.

Being able to calculate optimum distribution of hams relative to rat density is actually a really important skill, guys. The same formula can be used backwards for quickly referencing swarm sizes. ("How big is the swarm in our basement that ate Father?" - "Oh about 3 hams, darling")
