On the skirts vs pants thing: IRL the reason is because skirts are hard to animate and clip through things a lot (like what happens with the mom's dress during the escape section); in game I think the explanation is that she's wanting to join the knighthood, she likes to do 'the knights challenge' and her dad mentions her joining the hunt.
Actually, if you pay close attention, you will notice Beatrice (the siblings' mother) rips her own skirt to be able to move more nimbly. You can even hear the sound of the fabric tearing. So it's not that her legs are clipping; she tears her dress to run and jump over things. Badass mommy! Regarding Amicia herself, well, I don't want to be too spoilery, but let's say I see the De Runes as a somewhat 'progressive' family, as oposed to the very traditional Inquisition. Amicia even seems illusioned with the idea of becoming a knight, and her father clearly teached her to hunt and defend herself. Not your typical medieval highborn family, mind you :D. I have the feeling that maybe Amicia was raised in a more 'boyish' fashion since her brother was born. She was around ten by that time; maybe, when they realized Hugo was sick, the De Runes decided to raise a more independent daughter to somewhat make up for it. Also, I have the impression Amicia must have been kind of a naughty and rebellious girl; possibly Beatrice was so invested in taking care of Hugo that his dad, Robert, spoiled her and let her live according to her free spirit. Also, artistic freedom. Because what would it be of us without it? :D
Not to mention just because that was “how things were back then” I want mean everyone followed those rules. When I was a little girl I’d put on my dads work boots and pants and pretend to be him so I believe some girls would’ve at least tried pants on in secret
You might have already heard about this, but the change was made intentionally to make it easier for the voice actors to focus even more on the emotions and the delivery of their lines since that's a lot harder when also doing an accent. Still not sure what I prefer, partially because I originally played it with the German Voice Acting and only saw/heard the English one on RU-vid and Twitch when watching others play the game AND I haven't started playing Requiem yet so I can only compare from the trailers and development interviews (which is if I remember it correctly where I got the information about this intentional change.)
Unless there’s a big age difference, then that doesn’t really happen. My older brothers are 14 and 16 years older than me, we’ve never had a fight. I mean, of course they messed with me a bit, but never too annoying either. We’ve always been really peaceful, and now that we’re all adults, we’re best friends too. Me and my oldest brother hang out at least half of every week. I always wanted like annoying siblings when I was a kid though, but that doesn’t really happen if they’re so mature when you’re born 😂
It’s so strange watching old games and seeing how we and the channel have evolved in this period of time, this game is amazing and i can’t believe I hadn’t noticed it beforeeeee
@@JustCallMeEmily You tell that to the chicken. No animal is more important than any other. Chickens are important, you can eat chickens, dogs are useless.
Sign of good writing: "Oh my god I hate this kid!" Moments later "awww that's adorable!" Rollercoaster of emotions! Conflicted about watching this now, making this my next purchase!
"Everyone... Spread out!" I never understood Henchmen Logic because there are worried she has escaped but they have something she wants: her brother. Just hangout by him or move him away and set a trap to recatch her
I know this was 2 years ago, but they wanted his teeth because back in the day, dentures were made with real teeth and people would pull them from battlefields, where most of the dead were young men with fairly good teeth. People could make enough to survive for quite a decent while if only a battle would happen nearby enough to harvest a large amount of teeth to sell for dentures. The battle of waterloo was a large source where teeth were taken for dentures. Thats why they used to call dentures "waterloo teeth." Just thought that was worth mentioning since she seemed puzzled that the looters wanted his teeth.
Interesting! While creative, I’m not sure if I could get over the idea of someone else’s teeth being in my mouth regardless of how well they are cleaned. 😳
@@ZeMarkKrazee xD right? You have to wonder, but as far as me, I could probably deal. Better someone else's than none at all. They didn't have as advanced dentistry, as I know you're aware, so it was somewhat inevitable that eventually you'd be missing some teeth, depending on if you were one of the dudes that survived the previous wars, or lived in a time of peace minus famine and plague. The life expectancy was far lower back then, so it's conceivable that even a man that we'd consider middle-aged would be one of the older members of the community in smaller villages. The olden days were a trip when looked at from today's lense.
Wow.. I was wondering too. I thought it was used to identify the dead or something but then I remembered they didn't have DNA technology back then. Thank you for clarifying that!
I thought about World War II when some people had gold teeth but knew that was not the case here. I know George Washington's dentures were made of wood and animal teeth so it's not crazy that a few hundred years before that, they only relied on other human teeth but it seems a bit ridiculous still because this was the time of plague.
I have been looking forward to the newest game "A Plague Tale: Requiem" for a long time because of how incredible the art and scenery was in trailers; however, I wasn't aware that it was part of a series until Gab mentioned it during the intro to the newest game! How did I not see that she played this before now?! I have gone back and watched numerous of her older playthroughs, but somehow managed to gloss over this gem!! I am so excited to watch this story unfold and then see how it continues to evolve in the new game! Thank you Gab for being incredible and so much fun to watch; I am someone who isn't able to afford a PC/Console, so I am super grateful to have the opportunity to experience the game through someone as entertaining as you! ♡ ~('▽^人)
Okay I can’t be the only one who immediately thought Lucas was Amicia & Hugo’s secret brother because of his likeness to Hugo. Like the second I saw him I gasped and thought - what a twist! It literally looks like they just changed his nose and hair color and made him taller.
I've only been watching Gab for maybe a year so I'm slowly trying to go back through old playthroughs and catch up.... so Requiem coming out is perfect to watch this playthrough! So crazy to see how far the channels have come in such a short time, the content speaks for itself!!
You're right about the pants! That was actually the thing that Jeanne D'Arc was sentenced to death for, for wearing "men's clothing". Not because she fought the English, but simply for wearing "men's clothing". There is a great movie about her sentencing that is really worth while watching, "The trial of Joan of Arc (1962)". And yeah, first time I saw a play through on this game I also thought the brother suffered from "le grand male", epilepsy.
So glad you like this game Gab. I played it but wasn’t sure about it. Then ended up loving it. So many good things about it. So emotional and intense. Lucas is my favorite character by the way. Also just a little tip. Try looking around a bit more. That’s how you find extra stuff. If your interested. 🤗
"why is she wearing pants?" Funniest thing ever🤣 I laughed when I heard her say that🤣 I get the context but not knowing what she was talking about was hilarious
Oh I love this game!! I really like the story, the gameplay and the music! Can't wait to see your reactions ~ Also Hugo is so cute and his english voice actor makes him even more adorable!! "Yis!" (it's so funny because my mother tongue is french and I can judge your french impressions haha but also if you have questions I'll be sure to translate them for you) I love how Amicia is a little bit rough on Hugo at the beginning of the game because she didn't grew up with him so she doesn't know how to take care of him. Such a long comment I'm sorry… >
Amecia shoots a guy in the head point blank. Gab: "it looks so painful!" Soldier's head: "nah, ive taken more painful dumps. Jk, yeah, that really sucked."
Watching this video makes me want to go back an play Innocence all over again. I have beaten both Requiem and Innocence multiple times...I just love the medieval vibe and the great storyline. I like to explore the universe they are a part of. These games are excellent!!!
I like how the lore and stories are told out from dialogues off away from you between NPCs like Conrad's story of him losing his child from the plague drove him mad. Skyrim seems to have NPCs like this too.
If the dog would’ve just been yanked down I would’ve made it through. But they barks for help I can’t handle that! I would’ve stupidly grabbed hold of my dog and been yanked down w it. Without thinking it through. …my dog nearly killed herself in the woods once, she was jumping over fallen trees and lost her footing and impaled herself and ripped herself off the branch, I didn’t think I just acted I hulked out. Got her in the car and to the er. She was 4 when that happened. She’s 10yrs old and grey in the face now. It’s the fucking sound the barks of pain and fear… takes me back every time and I hate it. I think it left me with a little ptsd bc A silly animated game throws me back in time.
I love your videos Gab. Regarding Hugo he is not a brat. He is a 5 years old child. He cannot control his emotions and lost his parents. Its not easy. There are worse characters much older in other games that are brats. Hugo is a very sweet boy, you will see. He just have these moments when he despairs a little. Thank you for the amazing content as always!
Damn, didn't take long for the dog to be killed off. Just like Yomawari. One of these days, I'm going to find more horror games where the dog doesn't die. The only ones I recall are Haunting Ground and Siren 2.
The only thing that I wish is she was a little quieter during dialog but shes a youtuber so talking is what she does! Ive watched gab play so many games and she does a fantastic job every single time!!!!😊
Haven't played the next one but I don't think she should transition into crossbow. Alchemists and actual historical magicians used slingshots. They would put a chemical concoction in the sling and swing it so it simulated that look of throwing a fireball
How have I only just seen that you played this!? This is my favourite game of all time I’m on my 3rd playthrough! So excited to see what you make of it!
I always enjoy your play Throughs. Just a heads up, I know of three other streamers who tried using the French dub, and it failed miserably. Even people like myself who have to use subtitles because they have a family member who is deaf, don’t like to watch subtitles unless they don’t have a choice. The immersion is not nearly as good because most people can’t read and follow the story.
In the first, I was wondering why She's so excitet about a burning Windmill. And than i got it. She is from the Netherlands. And if a Netherlander wants to see the Horizon, they have to burn down a few of it. So i think its an Act of Liberation for Them but i realy dont know exactly, cause this Nation is a little bit Puzzling to me.
I'm only 25 mins in so I don't actually know what happens, but this is giving me serious Witcher vibes. I am not sure you played it, but it is about a special little girl with superpowers essentially, she is a great magician and the Witcher is helping in keeping her hidden - I could imagine that this boy also has great magic powers and therefore he is wanted by the inquisition. Guess I will find on as I keep watching :)
I know next to nothing about this game but I saw a premise or a trailer for this game and got intrigued. I am kind of glad I am in the same mindset as Gabs while watching this
Have been trying to find this game for ages and so glad you have the playthough of it. First time watching this and hoping the mother is still alive and the blood on the sword belonged to the servant. Time will tell if I am right.
Who's watching this in 2022 before watching the second playthrough? 😝 So cute when she speaks French. Nice accent though. Dommage qu'elle ne le mette pas en français 😋 Bonne journée à toi!
I just started playing this game. I just finished the part in the church or monastery where all the rats were. They're making a sequel to this that doesn't include PS4, it's for PS5, XBox X and Switch, but I also read it was XBox X exclusive so not sure. If it goes to the Switch I can play it there.
I love that I can watch Gab play the game. For one, she's awesome. Two, the game kills a dog. Three, I would let Hugo die and game over because F that brat.
This would definitely be me though, the pig doesn't even know what's going on and didn't harm anyone, while most of the humans that get killed are actively trying to harm the main characters. So one is luring someone innocent to their death and the other would mostly qualify as self-defence or at least self-preservation. Also there were like a thousand dead pigs near the farm, why not use one of them instead of murdering the only alive one. Seems just unnssessary and mean to me....
I really don't like seeing people call child characters brats or insulting their existence when said child characters are going through extreme/dangerous/traumatic experiences... a child is going to act like a child.
I just got to the part you must have been talking about and I totally agree. Besides, both Hugo and Amicia were acting childish. If anyone is going to be forgiven for acting out, it's the literal child and not the more develop-minded teenager. But both deserve to be treated with respect, I mean Amicia watched both her parents and her beloved dog be murdered. At this point I'm just ignoring Gab's comments about it and listening to the story.
Hi Gab, it is so cool that you play this game too. I bought it for me and I like it very much, the graphic, the story etc. I started to play and have much fun with it. Thank you for upload it here. I don't have the time at the moment to join the streams but happy to see it here later. My thumbs up for you.
I wonder what Melie does because I learned anything from Dragonage and Skyrim: Lockpicking is important but you have to specialize in something else. That cannot be your main skill. She does not appear to be a fighter because Amicia immediately took over when she got the sling, Arthur seems to be the one to cause distractions, and she does not seem to alchemical ingredients.
For the record, when I play Dragonage, I alternate level ups with my focus for even levels as Consititution, Stamina/ Mana, Consitution and odd level get whatever the character is. For Rogues, I will put my perk points at Dexterity, Cunning, Dexterity. For Skyrim, I try to create a well-rounded character so I will focus two skill trees for the Fighter, two skill trees for the Mage, and two skills for the Rogue. Those two that I choose depend on my character but my Rogue skill trees are almost always Sneak and Lockpicking
YESSS i was wondering if you would play this game!! it's not perfect by any means but its strengths way more than made up for its flaws. i loved it and i hope you do too :)
