There's one more "LSS" symbol on the back I think. It's on the bottom right, on the border.

There’s another check on the back too. The TM in the FAB logo and the swirling lines are in different layers. The TM itself is in the dot layer, the swirls are overtop of it and cuts off part of the bottom of the T and cuts the left leg off the M in a real card but are indistinguishable in fakes. Had a fake AoW come into my store that looks almost exactly as bad as that C&C
@ravenousbabble
@ravenousbabble Год назад
@@surbon110 Yep! Layered printing is your friend, lol. :) It's very strange, because the front of the card appears to be done with layered printed. But yeah, the TM is another good tell. I might make an updated video in a month or two with all the additional information we've collected from this one. :) Plus, my video quality should be better by then. ^^;

Always on the lookout for videos like this. I'm a little concerned about marvels because the most reliable stuff to check is on the card back and double sided cards don't have a standard back. The resource symbol is a great thing to check that I didn't know about so, thanks a ton for the info.

@@ravenousbabble Not sure if it's a real problem for chinese counterfeiters. I mean those who actually make these cards are not the ones that try to sell them as authentic ones. Usually they are sold as proxys. (even when they are counterfeits) and then people who buy those are the ones that try to scam others. Either way It's really shady business and people who scam others, should be banned from any selling platform.

The easiest way to tell a fake is what you pointed out first. The fakes , in MTG as well, never have that last black ink layer that cleans everything up. Fakes almost never print in layers, usually it's one layer printing
@ravenousbabble
@ravenousbabble Год назад
Yeah, that's generally very consistent with MTG counterfeits. I've seen very few that do print in separate layers, but you can still tell them apart if you know what to look for. Something weird about FAB counterfeits, the front of the card appears to be printed in layers, but not the back of the card. It's a little worrisome, but I don't think it's too much of a concern just yet (though this is why I focus on the back for the loupe tests). You can tell that they use layered printing on the front with a loupe, because the text doesn't blend in with the print patterns on the rest of the front side, unlike the back side. I hope that makes sense. D: But yeah, that seems to always be the downfall of counterfeiters...that and not having insanely high-end printers, lol. Thank you for watching btw! ^^
@jasonu8981
@jasonu8981 Год назад
Another tell that I've seen mentioned before that has to do with layered printing is that there is a small gold TM to the bottom right of the logo on the back. There is a small amount of black ink that crosses over the bottom of the T and the side of the M. Don't personally have a fake to compare but I recall it looking pretty blurry on the fake.
@mfdoom1898

@@jasonu8981 Yeah, I've also seen this. :) I found the print patterns in general to be more consistent, from the various print runs. But yes! That is definitely a good was to tell if the back of the card is layered properly. :)

Yeah, foils are a bit hard to capture on camera in general. :( The foiling on both in is the correct locations (art deisgn wise), but the authentic one will have more depth to it, and the counterfeit is more flat (and will hit a larger area). The counterfeit foils also feel...less intense, if that helps! I could go over them in another video if you'd like! :)

It's a good beginner video, but you left out the main market for counterfeits. The Fair condition cards. Believe it or not, there are more there are more fake NM and Fair cards than Mint ones. Why? because buyers and judges won't look at them as closely. So what if I want a Fair condition legendary and only pay 50% of the Mint price. For the counterfeiter that's still a good profit. But would you stare at it as hard as a buyer? No.
