I got given this the other week, my first Bosch Athlet experience! But, of course, it does not work. Can we get it working? Or will this vacuum be spinning it's last this christmas?

I bought one of these 2nd hand over a year ago. The previoys owner told me about the original handle snapping, which he had replaced under warranty. You just have to be careful not to put too much weight on it when you use it, as they do fkex a little bit. It came with a Vax Gator hand held machine, and I got both for a tenner, and both are still going strong in the original batteries. I use the Athlet quite a bit, as it is really convenient to use, and seems to pick up quite well. So for a tenner, it was a real bargain.

You put a 32v motor,battery and circuit in a 25v body, then tried to charge it with the charger designed for the 25v system. That's why it wouldn't charge. A 32v charger would be about 37ish volts

The spares are mostly compatible with each other, if you hold the vacuum cleaner the right way up 🤣 that pleated filter is only featured on certain models, most have the foam filter. They’re good machines when working well. One of the best cordless cleaners around £150

It was good, nice aggressive brushroll. Just wasn't going to waste time on this one when a working one will come along one day for the right price!

The ones designing closed battery systems should be sent to jail with no excuse.

It's possible to fix this without a new board or having to do a board level repair. just disconnect the 2 leads that go from behind the power socket to the board and connect them to each side of the 6 batteries that are in series making sure to get the correct polarity, then you just need a constant 25v power supply or a bit under if you want the batteries to last longer, when fully charged it will stop taking current, at the moment it is probably going through a bms that has gone faulty, this way you don't need a bms, you would only need a bms if you exceeded 25.2 volts

this might be to late,but here is a crazy thought. the circuit boards must have a means to test the batteries and if not up to specs will not charge. so if one or more of the batteries are not good the board would not charge said battery pack. You could test the batteries separate to see if bad and replace, then test charging.

I could, but I have zero experience in battery pack rebuilding and didn't want to waste time trying it on this!

Oh!! What a shame! I like these! Nice design! But I didn’t know they had pleated filters. The earlier ones had a sponge filter. But this is one of the newer ones.

just got given one put new filter in as good as new for 6 quid and they need to be chraged from a mains socket not a lead

Yeah, he's a bit of a dick this lad. Half the time he doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. And he speaks as if he's talking to a classroom full of 5 year olds, which is quite annoying, and why I am not subbed to his channel.

The one we had died as well.....piece of junk. Changed it for a Miele Triflex.....big improvement.

Hi do you know a great vacuum for my nan because my nan is looking for a new vacuum and i cant think of a good vacuum and also she has a dog that sheds alot

My mum just bought a Bosch serie cordless vacuum, have noticed a smell which can only be described as similar to when you blow a match out, but nobody uses matches in the house and it’s coming from the vacuum, do you think it’s the charger or the motor overheating

Tricky one, if its brand new it could just have a 'new' smell, which should fade. Otherwise if its the charger it would feel hot to the touch, or its internal somewhere. I'd keep using it but register the warranty just in case...
