Tests on the REM Deux-Montagnes were scheduled to begin next month (November) go on for 12 months and the line to open at the end of 2024. Looking at how slow the progress of construction it's HIGHLY unlikely the REM Deux-Montagnes line will go into service at the end of 2024. Bet on the Spring if not the Summer of 2025.
Preliminary tests are now scheduled to begin this month in Laval, with full scale testing starting in the spring. Looks like it'll be a late spring 2025 opening.
The bridge linking Ile-Bigras to Pierrefonds is newly constructed (the old rail bridge remains untouched) but the bridge linking Laval to Deux Montagnes has been retrofitted from the old bridge.
Man! I like the idea of rem going to laval but damn its only touching the richest neighborhood all the way west. Like bring it to carrefour laval, they already have an alocated space right in front. Either that or lenghten the actual orange line to there and past.😅😅
Considering Sainte-Dorothee already had a bus terminal connecting routes to the whole west half of Laval and the dire need for a metro-like service in the Deux-Montagnes, Saint-Eustache area, I think they made the right decision. A place like central Laval deserves the actual Metro as condos go up everywhere and the connection would be much easier. Carrefour Laval already has a nice terminus to serve as a Metro station so get on with it already!
