To address the elephant in the room: Yes, I could've called it the Palance core. Yes, I completely forgot it was called the Palance core while writing the script.
Interesting that you didn't mention Palance (or FAAP) core being taken over by people realising Gyarados could be a water type and an intimidate mon, which lowered Palafin's usage by people that didn't want to have to switch it out just to use it and also freeing a team slot by not having Palafin + Arcanine be mandatory.
While he could get away with saying FAAP on the video substituting Palafin with Gyarados makes FAAG. Which is just a wee bit less tolerated when spoken aloud.
@@TheGBZard It’s called FAAP which stands for Flutter mane Arcanine Amoonguss Palanfin. It can also be called Palance for palafin balance if you’re lame.
I’m surprised Gholdengo + Murkrow wasn’t mentioned, but I’m guessing that’s very early on even for the timeframe covered in this. Great video as always!
I'm a casual Pokémon player, never really been interested in playing Pokémon competitively, but these videos are both well-explained and fun and I can't stop watching them! Great work, I'd gladly listen to you talk about literally any era of competitive Pokémon!
I've been interested in competitive pokemon for the first time in almost a decade; your videos are easy to consume and understand, which is great for someone like me who has a lot of catching up to do on the meta, and viability of newer mons. Keep it up!
Powercreep but backwards. Where alot of new mons are so Overwhelmingly mid that the previous gen’s mons *CREEP* their way back into Meta relevancy. Yeah, I know the treasures of Ruin exists but out of all the Paldea Dex, how many are currently Meta Relevant?? Actually a pretty big handful come to think of it, the Paradox Mons are so damn overtuned it’s actually ridiculous…maybe we should’ve let Toxapex keep Scald…
I really like this direction of your videos. Like, who knows this kind of thing? It was a cool surprise especially knowing a lot about vgc in the past to see some stuff I missed! I'm staying tuned for more stuff!
new sub here, ive watched a few of your videos whenever they popped up in my recommended feed, and gotta say i love the very short straight to the point videos like this. Bit of a niche I think in the community. Keep it up :3
I like the dragovich plushie it’s very cute and it’s very powerful with Fishious Rend as its move. It’s one of those mons that’s cute in an unconventional way and it was a large threat in gen 8 along with zacian which are both hyper offensive threats.
Wait I didn’t even know about espathra/shocks. At the beginning of reg A i tried to do a thing with espathra/toedscruel where you skill swap speed boost onto toedscruel and let it go crazy with spore, but that also had plenty of problems
Before Wolfe made a video on EspathraShocks, a homie of mine who was first to pilot it in a Hatterine Cup actually developed it. Since it did so noticeably well there, it more or less had room to spread. I have two different usernames memorized for them, but I believe it was ZeldaVox at the time.
I Ran a quaquaval based core for a while in reg c, but quaquaval really falls off when everyone is looking to counter water fighting types and quaquaval gets outclassed
Deadass Choice scarf trick Espartha stacking up on Speedboost is Op Baton pass into a slow Sweeper like Bloodmoon Ursaluna or Glisgor cuz we all know, if Glisgor Outspeeds, the enemy has a 0% chance of winning
FAAP still exists just in a different form. Now it’s (F)lutter (A)moonguss (I)ncineroar (U)rshifu or FAIU. Rillaboom can optionally take the place of Amoonguss but it’s the same core, just a different flavor. FAAP never dies
Palafin doesn’t surprise me at all while it has great stats it’s Just outclassed by better physical attackers that are just as bulky and have better sweeping potential like Dragon Dance Gyrados or Well Spring Ogeropon who both can heavily invest into their bulk while not sacrifice damage
I don't think you know what archetype means. These are team structures and metas. An archetype is set of things that keep a group to a similar general function. Archetype is more similar to roles.
