The obviously.... They literally just do not have the time... All the details in the lore and overworld is proof that they love and care for the game.... They literally just need more time.... Though, if I'm going to be honest.... I was fine with sword and shield not having the better graphics because I didn't want to wait longer for the games.... If it weren't for the glitches in Scarlet and violet, I would have loved the games
You forgot to mention how Ogerpon seems to be designed around popular Pokémon. Have access to Follow + being a grass type is amazing against amoonguss and her Water form is really great against Urshifu and decent against Chiyu Flutter Mane. It really shows that GF *"tries"* to balance the game
I mean, I think the devs at Gamefreak care at least a little. The problem is that their marketing division sitting on the board of TPC just wants them to pump out as many new generations as possible so that the TCG and Merch can print more money for them...
Just acknowledged that Hearthflame Ogerpon's Mold Breaker ability disregards Terapagos's Tera Shell ability to make all incoming damage resisted. Not sure if they're in the same tier but it's something of a balanced relationship between the two DLC mascots right?
@@Gaiou0331 This is the problem of TPC giving an equal stake to Creatures as it gives to Game Freak and Nintendo. Nintendo is notorious for delaying releases of their titles if they're not good enough yet to launch. Game Freak wanted to diversify their IP and thus we didn't get Pokémon ZX & ZY back in 2015 because they didn't have the staff to work on those and on Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire AND on Sun & Moon AND on whatever other little projects they were greenlighting. And Creatures has absolute timeframes in mind because they need to print money, and if you miss 2016 and the 20th anniversary of the franchise with a brand new generation, they're not going to print as much money if Sun & Moon are in 2017 because the games didn't push forward. And Scarlet & Violet are in a similar boat - they "had" to come out in 2022 so that their DLC could be 2023 so that they'd have 2024 and 2025 to do other Gen 9 projects before 2026 will clearly be the year that launches Gen X. We're now in the spot where they can breathe again, but if they delayed SV from 2022 to 2023 then they'd be in hustle and bustle mode the entire generation and Creatures wouldn't have as much time to capitalize on LeChonk.
I wish all Pokemon were designed like this. Ogerpon reminded me that this game actually has depth and isn’t just “Who can click Tera-Water Surging Strikes faster”
hell no. in singles it is a menace. Hearthflame is comically broken and was banned to ubers. It has every best grass move in the game: spiky shield, leech seed, power whip, horn leech, synthesis, and trailblaze. All it's missing is spore. It has knock off one of the best moves in singles, like, IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE HANDS. It logically makes no sense for it to have knock off since the in game animation literally shows it as a big white hand. Other notable moves include earthquake, u-turn, spikes, play rough, and taunt. It has been given godly treatment by GF: by giving it moves that it had no business having.
@@overlord3481 Ya ever tried to hold onto something while someone is swinging a baseball bat at your arms? The in-game animation isn’t the full explanation for an attack’s flavor. But yeah Ogerpon’s a little insane.
More like "cute in the way a child is cute" and knowing how rancid and vile Pokemon fans can sink, it inspires fear out of knowing what some artists are doing to it. That, and the infamous reputation for Poketubers/artists and Nintendo fans in general of being deviants/pedophiles, it's no surprise some people are a bit concerned.
@@lorekeeper685 what are you talking about? What is a "4chan"? I'm just mentioning that the Pokemon community has a problem with zoophiles/groomers. This is not breaking news, it's been known for a long time. All I'm saying is I'm guessing a non-zero portion of this the new cute, child-like animal is popular, is because a disturbing % of the Pokemon fanbase likes children and animals. Calling this a stretch would just be blindly ignoring the problems that exist.
Ogerpon also gets a 20% Attack boost to all his attacks when she wears the masks, so stab 100 power move with a 20% boost and Terastallization and the 1 plus attack from the hearthflame mask ability
The conspiracy theory is that it's just too well balanced to be true. Strong for the meta but not overcentralizing. I have the feeling DLC 2 is gonna ruin this
It's giving calyrex But seriously I think that their plan is just to intentionally make terapagos so absurdly broken that it gets banned immediately like the box legends. Hopefully the Baby version will actually be interesting though. And with the 19th Tera type around the corner that's gonna be a cause for concern, especially if the rumors are true and it's just prenerf protean
From what I've heard so far Terapagos is speculated to be a wall, which are normally not so amazing in VGC, we'll see if it ends up being "Zamazenta but good" if that is the case
@@GKplus8 Alright I did not see the idea of it deleting field conditions and having attacking stats & Shed Tail coming, we got Zamazenta but good baby!
Watch Terapagos be able to terastalize multiple times and automatically terastalize into a resisted type before every attack. Like color change but overpowered
You just know Gamefreak will take the wrong lesson from this. Seeing that the best Reg E teams are basically Reg D teams + Ogerpon, they'll think this DLC failed and will need to introduce new min-maxed mons next DLC (on top of the crazy returning ones like Incineroar and Whimsicott).
Let’s all give gamefreak a big round of applause! They put a bit of effort into their 20 dollar add on pokémon! lol anyway on a real note considering how glitchy and broken the game and dlc was on release/ I think still is I wonder if the dlc development was also majorly rushed by the crazy crunch game cycle GF has been on for the past several games. If so it’s actually slightly impressive, altho id think the design of a pokémon (stats and abilities mainly not art) would be one of the things that doesn’t suffer as much from the crunch, except for the lack of play testing i suppose.
Yay! I was looking forward to this one Also one thing I’d like to add the the “nothing too broken” point is that I think the fact that if ogerpon holds one of the 3 masks it just gets a 20% DMG boost to all moves, I’d consider that pretty broken.
As someone who plays natdex manotypes singles ogrepon was a great addition with all its forms the cornerstone varient is insane on grass teams the hearthstone varient gives fire a real offensive answer to water and makes the fire mirror less heatran focused
Ogerpon looks like it should be a modest threat but in practice it’s amazing. Especially its tera form that gives its a stab boost on every move plus one specific buff.
Good point to talk about the conspiratorial milieu of pokemon consumers. Pretty much every Pokemon receives a ton of attention during the design process. Consumers thinking their thoughts and feelings about a product that is sold to them (“while I don’t have any evidence to show GameFreak - cared”) reveal something about the product’s creation process is a tale as old as capitalism. Legendary and Mythical Pokemon receiving special attention during the design process is not a secret.
You might be on to something. It's surprising to think it's not all about merchandising. I've noticed almost all new mons in Gen 9 have two or three abilities that are actually legitimate choices, and not just 'the good one you use' and two nonsense ones.
Ogerpon alone has almost convinced me to pay for the DLC. She's cute as hell, but having played Showdown, she's also super fun to use and isn't obnoxious to fight against.
Might sound weird but i rly appreciate your effort in cutting your video length to the absolute neccessary to get your point across. Thank you so much, they are as informative and entertaining as they are effective in conveying the message.
I'm going to be completely honest, I have never had major issues out of hearthflame, but almost every time somebody has a wellspring overpon and I don't nuke it with something stupid fast, it just rips through my whole team, tossing resistances aside like my 1040 Ez that I will not be filing this year.
okay so im a month late but i think the thing with ogerpon not being incredibly overpowered and well rounded and having one insane thing that destroys everything is probably due to her place in the actual plot of the teal mask dlc, she *is* a legendary in the data of the game but shes very clearly not, yknow, a GOD. shes defintiley inspirited by youkai, as are all of the loyal three, (she literally has "oger" in her name and wields a huge spiked club). if anything i'd kinda compare her to spiritomb, shes just important to the plot so you're required to catch her. i very much do agree though, they should go this route for legendaries, at least ones other than box legendaries or something like necrozma or giratina
I mean i think the rampant powercreep over gens 8 and especially 9 definitely seems like Game Freak realized they could actually effect competition, and then took "smogon loves stall" memes waaay too seriously. Maybe theyre realizing their mistake now
Wait till terapagos will have 200 hp 2attack 500 def 600spa 500sdef 1speed An ablity its terapgosing time immune to every type awlays goes first and every move hits 10 times
The main problem comes from the fact that it’s locked behind a paywall and ogerpon is super good, so essentially unless you have money, no ogerpon for you
I am going to be real, I was disappointed in the DLC’s Pokémon. Stat wise that is. I never thought the tea cup and apple would be menaces so I was good there, but I did think orgepon was going to be bonkers OP so I was let down when it wasn’t. I has happy to learn that the fire one was what I wanted tho. I thought the lousy 3 would be a lot better than they are, So when I caught them I was very disappointed in how weak they where. No clue why I had such large expectations for them tho When I looked at bloodmoon my knee jerk reaction was that is would be a worse special Ursaluna, but I did realize it had recovery and calm mind later. Still I did not have much expectations for bloodmoon being anywhere near as good as it looked, so I was pleasantly surprised when it was good! All in all, I am a horrible judge of Pokémon who just can’t understand stats under 150. I started playing in AG and that really dulled me on pretty much everything else
Try playing weak formats. That might help you appreciate weaker mons. Old players often enjoy most those pokémon that are well made instead of batshit crazy, and it's also there where one truly starts learning how to play. Besides, it's often the case that movepool, ability and typing are worth more than stats.
I hate how ogrepon turned out to be a anime girl, if it was just the masks I would be all for it. It just shows exactly who gamefreak/Nintendo is marketing to
Ivy cudgel is one of the worst designed moves ever. This game balance was that to have 100 base power moves you had at least some draw back, accuracy, stat drop and so on. This one not only doesn't have any drawbacks, it also has more chances to crit your opponent if you ever tried to use a wall against a physical attacker like him. All of this, on an already insane Pokémon with buff just to tera. Make it an 80% accuracy move and people would still use him gladly like they do with hydro pump or overheat
honestly im of the assumption of the opposite, ogrepon is a failed attempt to design a strictly necessary pay-to-win pokemon. the 4 forms with different roles are intended to make it so every vgc team would need one of the forms to make players who dont care about the story cough up $30 if they want to play competitive
