Join The Past Finders for something a little different this week as we take a walk across the Quantock hill range in Somerset in search of the 'thin places'.
It is said that the 'thin places' held the space between heaven and earth. The ancient Celts believed this to be among the high places on hills and mountains. There is a huge amount of history embedded in the landscape of the Quantock hills. We have stories of executions after the Monmouth Rebellion, Bronze Age burial mounds, cairns and beacons (Hurley Beacon), and King Alfred's stand against the Viking forces coming across from Watchet harbour.
You will also find some of England's most beautiful nature on these hills. Wildlife, trees, plants of all kinds, and ancient pathways that twist and turn along the Somerset horizon. You might even encounter some wild horses!
We hope you join us in the search to find those ancient 'thin places' and enjoy this walk in the footsteps of our ancestors.
