Join us on an exciting journey as we dive into the heart of Montreal's new state-of-the-art transit system, the REM (Réseau Express Métropolitain). The REM is a revolutionary transit project, designed to transform the way people move around the metropolitan area. Stretching across multiple lines and stations, this fully automated light rail network promises faster travel times, increased capacity, and improved accessibility for countless commuters.
In this video, we'll be taking you on a visually stunning tour of the REM's first five stations, showcasing the cutting-edge design, modern amenities, and seamless connectivity that make this transportation network a game-changer for the region of Montréal. One of the most striking features of the REM is its complete automation, where driver-less trains glide smoothly and efficiently through the system, ensuring precise and timely arrivals and departures.
The REM sets a new standard for environmental sustainability as well. Operating solely on electric power, these trains significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, making them an eco-friendly choice for urban mobility. Step onto the platform, and you'll experience the convenience and safety of platform screen doors. These doors not only provide an extra layer of security but also prevent debris from entering the tracks, keeping the system running smoothly.
Prepare to be amazed as we reveal the unique open views from both the front and back of the REM trains. The sleek design incorporates panoramic windows, allowing passengers to enjoy breathtaking vistas of Montreal's urban landscape during their commute. It's a truly immersive and unforgettable travel experience, connecting riders with the city like never before.

We are VERY excited to explore the remaining stations and ride through the Mount Royal tunnel. It will make for an amazing connection with frequent, fast service for a lot of Montreal!

Thanks for this preview of the stations - much harder to see the details with the open house weekend coverage.

We plan to do more extensive coverage of each station once regular service starts on Monday. Think of this video as an appetizer of sorts!

18 minutes end to end! It's really a great feeling when you pass traffic on the bridge or along the highway. We are really looking forward to exploring more stations once they open!

Have fun! The system is a joy to ride and experience, many times! The trip across the bridge and through downtown Montreal to Gare Centrale are amazing.

@@RailFansCanada I don't have much use for the South Shore, but I'm definitely going to enjoy the views. It's too bad about the sound wall behind Mel's. It looks pretty long and totally obscures the view from the south end of the PSC Yards over the Technoparc and the river. I'm afraid they're going to deploy more of those before all is said and done 😞

Hopefully they don't as there are already quite a few walls that block the views in some areas. We will be posting some additional end to end ride videos in the coming days, (both directions, and both forward and rear), so if some of the view is lost, we will still have what could have been archived.

@@RailFansCanada I'm pretty sure Griffintown will get the wall-treatment in the coming months. To what avail, I don't know as the walls don't do much to deaden vertical sound propagation. Lotsa tallish condos very close to the tracks there. Hopefully CDP'll try some other damping scheme(s) there first. I'm looking forward to more of your videos. Thanks for sharing.

You should want your train to run on some kind of gas in case of a power failure or rolling blackout stunt. And you should want it outfitted with mufflers.
