I use the Kodak Scanza Digital Film scanner to save and share hundreds of old 35 mm slides. Most of the images have not been seen in decades. Great way to save family history and memories!

A great way to save and share old slides!

This was incredibly helpful video. I bought the device two years ago and found all the included implements a bit confusing. I was able to plow thru two carousels with ease. Haven’t tried negatives, but that’s on my bucket list.

Thanks so much for making this video! My mom has about 13 carousel's full of slides but no projector or screen any more. My brother and I bought her the Scanza to preserve our Family history. Your tutorial really helped to make this project a frustration free and FUN walk down memory lane :)

Melinda - I’m very happy to hear that the video was helpful. My next project is to digitize a bunch of old 8mm movies!

Thank you for this video…the manual that came with unit was pretty vague. Yes, I’m attempting to go through the boxes and boxes of slides taken by my dad and not viewed in decades. I do wish Kodak had just said upfront “unit will not work/project without an SD card, which is not included”. So now I need a separate trip out to Walmart ughhhh to get that SD card, wasting another day.

That's something we could use. My wife has lots of slides and negatives. Thanks!

BCR - definitely worth it. I went through about 1000 slides in an afternoon. Saved over 350 which I can now share with family. Trashed the rest. Next up is figuring out how to digitize dozens of old 8mm films.

Did you do a comparison with the "slide n scan" before making your purchase? I was wondering what the differences in specs are? THank's

How do you know what side of the slide goes face up (on top)?

What about the resolution? Is 7000megapixel enough?

I think it is fine for my needs. Mostly just conserving the image. I’m not doing anything else with them. Thanks for watching

It's not a scanner. I hope people would just quit calling these things scanners. It's a container housing a very cheap and low quality tiny digital camera. You are digitizing the film by shooting it with that very cheap and low quality tiny digital camera. The film is not scanned in any sense of the word. If's not just a matter semantics. When manufacturers start marketing these things as scanner, they are being deceptive. A friend of mine got tricked once. He bought one of these thing on Amazon thinking that it was a film scanner because it was advertised as such. Even though both can punch a hole in a wall but you won't call a hammer a drill, would you? Even though both are motor vehicles but you won't call a motorcycle a car, would you? So, why do so many people insist to use the wrong terminology for this type of gadget? Is it really that much more difficult to say, "I digitize my film by shooting it with a camera" than to say "I digitize my film by scanning it with a camera"?

Thomas - afraid I can't speak to the inner workings of the unit. Semantics aside, the box itself says "Digital Film Scanner" so I guess I have to go with that. Thanks for watching.
