Here we have a stove that's booked in for its annual sweep.
It needed a new door seal as the one fitted by the customer was incorrect.
Enjoy! #sweepunit

I use a combo of strip and small magnets. Its never completely sealed and never leaks. Different setups for different appliences, always works. Comes with experience. Great vid. Sweep on!

Just found your channel and I'm in Virginia USA. I've had a couple of fireplaces but never used them as a heat source and the houses were always new construction...but your work is interesting and you're obviously a fine craftsman and businessman too. Keep up the good videos.

36:00 I've recently started using a Siligun to do my rope seals I find it very useful. Nice and compact it has a anti drip feature so no more expensive silicone is wasted.

I’m a big fan of the magnets. Saves me a fortune on taping up! I put a bit of shoe lace in the holes at the ends, far easier when it comes to taking them off again 👍🏻

totally agree with magnets, since i started using them, i have not had any soot blowing back at me, 😉

I often wonder why it took so long for us to start using them. I guess we get stuck in our ways.

I know a sweep who still insists on sweeping with the top down method I know it occasionally has its place but every job he manually sweeps top down then wastes a whole bin liner plus duct tape to seal off the fireplace or stove. Just needless hardship and risk climbing up on roofs all day .

Hi any thoughts on mole brushes do you consider them essential or do you think a whip head will cover most applications ?
@thechimneyman-uk

You will definitely need moles for brick flues 👍

Yeah of course cheers I have some perlon rotary brush heads for delicate lime mortar rendered flues and some stiff tamar heads . But them mini moles for liners I can't see wait use it would be . Is it for poor condition flexi liners ? Thanks again great channel 👍

@@danbreen1916 your right either will do the job. One client I have has a liner which is at quite a shallow angle at one point. Almost a flat spot due to the design of the chimney the liner is in. Because of that soot tends to sit there. The whip head will move the soot about but doesn't move it down the liner. The mole will drag it down as it fills the liner better. It's much like how a mole will remove soot from the bends in a brick chimney more efficiently than a whip. Also moles last a while so it saves on replacing worn out whip line.

Great point I'll have to get one or two in case I run into similar flues . Thanks for the advice .
