I know I’ve been quiet since my third frozen embryo transfer, but let me catch you up to present day.
Unfortunately, my FET didn’t work out. I went through a pretty difficult time because all the work I had done to collect my embryos for an entire year, away from home, was gone in an instant. These were the last of my embryos that I made from last year, so it was a lot to process. IVF in your 40s can be a long and drawn out process, and it’s not for the faint of heart.
There weren't a lot of embryo implantation symptoms post transfer, and I didn’t even track my pregnancy test line progression this time for peace of mind! Rather, I tracked my progesterone and estrogen levels with my new Mira Fertility Hormone Monitor to make sure I was on track after my FET - and in this video I have a little story to tell about what happened with my hormones during my two week wait😳
So…. my third and last embryo transfer has ended and now I’m back at square one. In this video, I talk about my next steps.

My name is Hellynn and I live in the US, but I've traveled to Korea (where I'm from) to undergo multiple rounds of IVF. Being 40+ and trying to bring children into the world is hard, but I also have a condition called diminished ovarian reserve, so I've done back-to-back IVF egg retrievals and now have moved onto transfers after banking some embryos.
Navigating this world of infertility is definitely a challenge - a million new acronyms, hormones and protocols to learn - it's a lot. So I thought I'd just talk about everything I've been learning for the women out there who have had similar struggles. I'm also happy to share info with anyone who is interested in traveling to Korea for IVF, since it's much more cost efficient + high success rates here.
I am treating this channel as my diary, talking about the ups and downs of my journey to motherhood so that one day, hopefully, my babies will see how they were created... with fierce, enduring strength and love.

i was in a similar position - so many retrievals with so few embryos! 😢 then one random cycle, i got that one embryo that stuck - out of nowhere. currently 8.5 weeks and 45 years old. don’t give up! ❤

@@hellynn_j gosh, i’ve lost count since so many cycles failed without getting to a retrieval but i’d guess about 10-12 cycles and 6 or 7 retrievals. i was testing for the first 7 or 8 rounds or so and then stopped (for the same reason you didn’t test). i think we got like a total of 6 or 7 blasts out of all those damn attempts! i only got to a transfer once and its with my one and only euploid now. i started at 43 and it took me so long to get here. in that time, i came to terms with the possibility of donor egg if all else fails. that was hard (something i never wanted to do) but ultimately gave me comfort - peace really - i would be a mom one day and that was that.

@@gloriablock8502 hi! ;-) honestly, i didn't do anything all that special. i took basic One-A-Day prenatal vitamins. My protocal was mini-stim, so it took a while for me to be ready for a retrievel - sometimes 15-16 days of shots. the best thing we did was to do many cycles to raise the odds. i either got abnormal embryos or nothing at all on all cycles except one where i got the one euploid (I did several cycles afterwards to try to get another euploid with no success). I've been trying to figure out what, if anything, i did differently for the euploid as others have asked but I really think it was random chance. i didn't change my lifestyle at all. I do wish I had an answer so i could pass on the info to other women our age as we need more support!

Oh dear you are not letting any of us down. We all just want you to be happy and you have our support no matter what happens. And remember, all you need is one! My friend tried so many times and failed so many times, until one (not so good quality) embryo stuck and now they have a baby. You only need one! And it doesn’t even need to be a good one. ❤️

if you haven't already, I'd suggest trying ovarian prp and growth hormone priming before next IVF cycle, to improve egg quality and numbers.

I also wanted to mention I just had immune tests done and my nk cells are raised. I had a few chemical pregnancies and this could be the reason. I'm also going to have thrombophilia tests and hoping nothing odd comes up.

@@helenbubz thank you for the lovely comment and reminder ❤️ the doctor let me transfer three embryos because they were day four embryos and had a lower probability of sticking then the day fives. In Korea, there is a law that allows advanced maternal aged women to transfer up to 2 day fives and 3 day threes/fours at a time.

I sometimes feel rage against life,God(s) ,my body. How can I and other women who want to become mothers who would be great moms it doesn't happen for us. Why? We are told to stop eating carbs, sugar, caffeine, but then you see a full blown drug addict 8 months pregnant whilst her other 5 kids are in foster care. It isn't fair, that's not how it's supposed to be. Then there's plenty of news of moms doing horrific things to their own child. How or why are those women blessed?

I know exactly how you feel. For me I felt the worst during my third transfer. I couldn’t believe it when I got pregnant. However, I had a loss at 12 weeks, heartbeat and everything. Our hearts were so so so broken. I had my first injection for my 7th egg retrieval yesterday. My husband and I decided that this will be our last fully medicated egg retrieval. I may try IVF without hormones - but we will do donor egg IVF quite soon. We want to be a family so badly.

I have a Omnilux device with Infraredlight. While I’m writing this, I have it on my ovaries to help the eggs grow… not sure if it will help or not. ;) Wish you all the best as well! You're honestly a hero! Give yourself grace. I'm starting the journey myself and omg the tears and the fear feels like it's so overwhelming. I told myself each step I take to get closer to getting pregnant, I'm gonna reward myself in some way to do the best to stay relaxed and positive. This process can eat up the best of you! All my love for these new trials! Please take methyl-folate and methyl-B12, and if possible try to check immune factors, for thrombosis, MTHFR genotypes and many other markers that may prevent your embryos from attaching or growing. All the best

I recall he mentions to do test after a couple of failed FET instead of transfer them blindly. Maybe you can talk to his team. Hope you find the cause and solution soon!❤

Hi Hellynn, you’re not let anyone down. You are so brave to share your story. I am low AMH and started IVF just turned 40 in Japan. I know how you feel and what you have been through. After 3 FET failed, I needed to do egg retrieval again too. Also my doctor suggested to take ERA, EMMA and ALICE test. After took test, I found my implantation window (ERA) was 12 hours earlier than avarage. My healthy bacteria levels(EMMA) was 0% compare to avarage 90%. I was found one bacteria from ALICE. After complete all treatments, 4th frozen embryo transfer happned then the result was finally positive. I know every body is different but I am sending you a lot of hugs and my best wishes! You are not alone❤

I just had another retrieval after 2 failed transfers and it was my best one yet. My doctor is doing a hysteroscopy and a mock cycle to see if there's something else causing my failures. Either way, thank you for updating everyond. You really are such an inspiration.

I have had my first FET and it failed. Let me tell you it feels horrible, I could not get out of bed for two days. I was diagnosed with endometriosis since I was 20, I am 38 now. So apart of not being able to conceive I suffer pain every singlw time I get my period and now that pain is a constant reminder that I can't have babies because of it. Do not loose hope you are not alone, I am in Mexico and watching your videos and sending you the best vibes

@@nwb4020I have endometriosis as well but I wasn't diagnosed until I was 40. If you can go straight to IVF. I had 4 failed iuis and and failed egg retrieval. I just stopped doing it because I can't with the heartbreak anymore... you still young!! Pray and have faith ❤

@@nwb4020Find a specialist. My dr removed endometriosis and also removed 1 cyst and many fibroids. Sometimes all you need is a surgery.. but like I said before I think age was a huge factor for me.

Look into red light therapy for egg quality (LLLT). There is a thread on babycentre where many older women have had success using it either naturally or in conjunction with IVF.

It’s interesting, both hope & faith are things that we can easily TELL people to continue having(especially during difficult/disappointing) times…but they truly are their most valuable & important when WE (personally) need to have them ourselves. When there are no cameras to record in front of, no comments to make &/or share. I’m a Muslim, so for me…my faith in the creator of us all is PARAMOUNT for me….especially at a time when I want something (to be successful at TTC) so badly . He will NEVER fail us Hellyn. He will NEVER place a burden on any of us stronger than our shoulders can bear. You have come so far. Believe in your SOUL…that when it’s meant to be…it will BE. You got this.

Hi I am sorry about your transfer! No, I transferred multiple embryos untested because I have DOR and didnt want to risk it. May test in the future!

I can relate to this i had my first ivf treatment 2022 got pregnant but sad to say at 6 weeks no hearbeat, after few months i had another embryo transfer but failed.. then last year i tried again 2 times egg retreival to keep more embryos but only 4 embryos are ok.. i had my transfer last month now im pregnant but im so nervous yesterday my first scan my embryo size is smaller than usual hearbeat not detected. Dr advice me to comeback after 1 week im so worried about this pregnancy i feel something wrong with it but still hoping for miracles 🙏😥

Thats why women are so strong! I am proud of you. And trust me the next embryo transfer will work. Just do 1 embryo at blastocyst stage at one time. Not two at ones. Thats what worked for my sister ultimately after a few failed attempts.

@@hellynn_j I her opinion it just majorly increases the chances of conception. My sister (cousin).. underwent ivf several times over the span of 5 years. Each time they would transfer 2 embryos and that would be unsuccessful. This was the first time she asked her doctor to transfer only one and the first time itself she conceived. Her daughter is almost 3 year old now and very healthy. The miracle was as soon as she delivered her and her daughter was only 3 months old, she naturally conceived without planning. She was also shocked. Now she has 2 healthy daughters 3 year old and 2 years old. She also has a youtube channel. Although she spoke in Hindi for the most part in that video. Ok.. so I just wrote an elaborate comment explaining my cousin's case but it just disappeared. The moral was, as per her... It just increases your chance of conceiving. She too tried for over 5 years giving beaks in between and the only time worked for her was when she requested for single embryo transfer. Her daughter is 3 now

Sending you lots of love…IVF alone is not for the faint of heart, but for those with DOR it’s a whole different ballgame. We already go into it being told our chances are slim and numbers will be meager so the only option is a long road ahead…that being said, I have faith that ALL in God’s timing is possible! Hi Hellynn, I am so so sorry to hear that it didn’t work this time. You have been through so much on the roughest journey and yet picking yourself up and still share this valuable story to us. There are so much that we receive from you more than we give and I am grateful for being here in the community. It is absolutely normal what you did; being quiet and not responding the comment. When we are in pain there is a process to go pass through that and it can’t be skipped. So take as much time as you need. No one here will judge you as we wear the same shoes. I hope you surrounding with love and good energy from the loved ones around you . Replenishing your heart and souls. I am one of the people who’s heart is filled by your story and your determination. Sending a mountain and sea of love to you.❤ PS. In Buddhism, we believe in reincarnation and the good deed that a person has been done on there account. hey hellynn I came across your video while searching for something on RU-vid. I understand that the whole IVF and FET is a huge huge journey, but tbh I think it’s better for you to take a break and not to do these back to back egg retrievals and transfers. Even though your numbers might look good on paper, your body knows that you’re not “happy” and ready for it.

I know I’ve is so hard. I am guessing ready to do a second egg retrieval. I had a miscarriage, and the second embryo didn’t implant. All healthy embryos. Now we have 1 left but since I just turned 40 I want to try again for more embryos. It is hard 😢 sending you love

I wanted to ask if you have ever tried long protocol. I did it this time last 3 cycles iwas on short protocol n only got 3-4 eggs at Max. This time on long protocol I got 8 follicles and all had eggs. Normaly I have 7 follicles but only get 3-4. So please look into it if you haven't tried. Worth the shot

If this trasfer fail go for few test 1) DFI - exact condition of sperm , motality and many more things 2) APLA- autoimmune disorder 3) hysteroscopy - uterus to check does not have any curtain, blood clot, miscarriage bones, and have good environment and space for embryo or not

Hi Hellynn, thank you for running your channel, it is inspiring to know there is more of us going through this difficult time and wish you luck with another retrieval🙏 I will turn 41 in June, started IVF journey in Sep 23 with endometriosis surgery. My 1st egg retrieval ended up with 1 embryo - tested with Down's syndrome. 2nd retrieval even worse - no egg survived till 5th day. One last try and than we will go for egg donation. It will be probably our only chance to have a baby... Fingers crossed, wish you luck🙏

Sending love ❤ I feel your pain. I also have DOR due to a health condition I have that I only found out recently. We didn't get any egg on my first retrieval even though we saw like 6 or 7 on the ultrasound. They were empty follicles. After this, my fertility doctor said we'll try one more time but if the same result happens then we should try to consider having an egg donor. On my second egg retrieval we were able to get 3 eggs. Two survived the process and are frozen now. I'm waiting for the schedule of my first embryo transfer and praying for the best result as I only have two chances of embryo transfer. Lots of hug ❤
