HI Otto, thanks for doing this. Love the respect and stories that you have and shared. I was in NYC. I had just gotten back from a trip to London with my family on Sunday? Thank God. I went to visit a friend at the bar we both worked at on Monday. We drank all night and I crashed at her place. I think it was 33rd street and Park Ave?? Lower middle Manhattan anyway. We had fallen asleep with the TV on. I remember waking up Tuesday morning for a few seconds, looking at the TV and seeing one of the towers with smoke belowing out the windows. I didn't think anything of it...just thought it was a movie like Die Hard or something and went back to sleep. Later I woke up again and saw the same scene on the TV....same angle, same shot. both towers with smoke pouring out the sides. I thought what's going on? then the collapse started. I began shaking my friend's shoulder... "hey wake up, I think something's happening." It wasn't a movie, it was mind numbingly real. It was a beautiful day. No wind. Blue as blue sky"s can be. just a tower of smoke rising up from the finance district to the South. That was only the beginning. Well....looks like you three had a nice trip!! PA has some beautiful landscapes. I loved driving through the hills there. So green this time of year!! My biker friends and I took off for Philidelphia to get real cheese steak sandwiches once... but ended up at one of their parent"s cabin in the middle of nowhere and settled down for a campfire, food, smokes and good times. we never made it for sandwiches!! hahah

You were in the city, I should have guessed that knowing you lived there for some time. Thank you for relating your experience on that day. I appreciate it. Pennsylvania is beautiful. I love the Midwestern states, especially late summer and early fall. We had a lot of fun in Hershey, I mean, who wouldn't? Then you juxtapose that lightheartedness against the Flight 93 memorial and it highlights a range of emotions. It was a good trip, well worth it.

I was laying in bed and my clock radio came on. They were talking about a plane having hit the tower and I was thinking it was a small plane because they weren't giving any real details. They were speculating about how the pilot could have gotten off course and so low over the city when the second plane hit. I reached for my phone immediately because I knew that was not random, and my boss answered my call saying "I was just going to call you".

Thanks for sharing, Rob. All the phone calls that day. Though I recall that first one I couldn't possibly tell you who all I spoke to throughout the morning. I'm sure, like many, it was a load of conversations. Anyway, thanks again for posting.

I was watching Good Morning America on a day off. The first plane had already his and I saw the second one hit and the Pentagon and this attack as it occurred.

Thanks, Slacker. I guess my tuning in at around the same time means we both had that similar experience of realizing the nefarious nature of the situation in just about real time. That was a surreal feeling. I appreciate you sharing.
