Today I'm experiencing one of the worst days of my life, which is now going to include waking for the next couple hours and I can't tell you how grateful I am that I am going to be spending that time listening to this and not my intrusive thoughts. I know it's just a podcast but sometimes shit like this feels like such a lifesaver.
If one were to be out in the wild when suddenly you hear, "Rodney...Rodney!" The proper response will be to wait until the end and do that final grandiose "Rooddddnneeeyyy". Then fellow fans will know when another one of us is present... Thoughts...?
I like this new cracking a can of some sort of soft drink in the intro, dunno why. But ill be sad when one day one of you forget to do it then it'll be lost to time
I know you guys are Australian. But I forget because I listen every week. But when you said it's a winter day... It definitely caught me off guard and reminded me I'm a dumb American
I've heard the call to leave a 5 (five) star review for the Weekly Planet and I'm answering it. I've been listening TWP for decades, since before it was on, and regret very little of it. Like you I was skeptical, there was a paid service-bigsandwich, $9/mo-and there's still no consensus on Australia. Yes, there was a time your average Joe, the working man, our blue collar heroes, could buy a big sandwich for about $9. And don't @me about Subway. A) I don't have Twitter, B) those aren't sandwiches, it's resignation sold in 6 (5) inch increments. What else is there left to say really? If you only listen to one podcast this year, make it an episode of The Weekly Planet. And do the same next year, variety be damned. Your arbitrary podcast limits are on you, not these fine gentleman-that was your choice, you bear the consequences, stop putting that reviewers. Just listen to more for Christ sake. 5/5 stars, can recommend.
The bikeriders was filmed in a bar created for the movie across the street from me for a week and a half. I walked on the set on my way home from 3rd shift on accident. There was a crowd of extras cheering for two people on a bike riding away. Looking forward to seeing it!
Coffee ✔️ steam deck ✔️ exercise bike ✔️ the aussie boys who say the word movie in that funny way i now do to get a laugh out of peeps at work podcast playing ✔️ lets goooooo
What does it mean, when you say, not a real movie? Love the podcast. Sometimes, I do think we need to hear “previously on…” just so we can keep up with all the ongoing lingo and jokes. Thanks for making me smile and laugh all the same!:)
I know a lot of ppl want RobBatBattinBat to be in the dcu but I don’t see reeves and Pattinson being willing to be in a cinematic universe and everything that comes with that. Seems they’ll make their trilogy and then be done with it
I kinda hate making this comment cuz I swear I really don't care about the canon of the MCU but I don't think it's really accurate to say that Mahershala Ali was already in the MCU cuz I mean yeah it was TECHNICALLY in the same universe but as I remember it the Netflix shows were pretty clearly separate from the movies
My take away from this movie is that Mayor Rudi probably had a hotline during the 2000's which was marked "blow the bridges". And showed huge restraint. 😅
I was so thrown off when you goobers started talking about The Bear. You actually started getting me interested in the show, then you revealed that everything you had said was BS lmao.
Really from where?. I saw it in 4dx which was a fun experience. I thought it looked a really good with the exception of like one bad green screen shot. The performances were very good. And I’d say it’s definitely better than Pt2
I dont get it... the trailer was misleading on purpose (it wasn't even about the day one invasion) as it was about finding peace and friendship in the face of the apocalypse. So the studio/creators knew this would drive audiences away, so why make it!!! Both my friend and I and a large part of my packed theatre were left rather disappointed. It's not what we wanted to see given the lore created by the 1st two. If it was the first movie then fair enough... but people wanted to see more about humanity coming to grips with what was happening. Two characters hardly developed, an unrealistic cat and a very repetitive quiet > noise > alien formula.
I would not mind a movie set in the distant future A Quiet Place where it's gotten to where we learn how to use their biology for shielding ships for space and show them in containment by the future government that comes back together and we try to figure out if their planet exploded or if they were on a ship sleeping and hit an astroid that then broke up and hit Earth in multiple locations. It would also be nice to know if these aliens came by accident or if another species sent them ahead of time to wipe us out and then come claim Earth and kill the Death Angels themselves with their advanced knowledge of the killer aliens. I can see one more movie, set in the future. But I don't want more than 2 more movies tops and I don't want it to be anymore prequels. Only sequels and far distant future sequels. Maybe the ship that had them on board takes over a decade after the aliens fell on Earth that the ship falls and they use the tech on the ship to control the Death Angels and send them to Venus so they can live on a hot planet with no water that's like their orgin planet. There's a good story that can be told, several, about different families/humans as a whole that this can go and I'll follow it as long as John K. continues to be involved in the scripts. Maybe cloning can even be involved and they use it to clone the Abbott family so they can finally live a peacefully life on a new planet/fresh alien free earth and that's how they can bring back dead characters and age them to whatever age they are during filming. Too many ideas, so much to look forward to!
