A Rainy Day Late Fall Trout Fishing (spinner fishing for Brown Trout)

Fall trout fishing is tough to beat. When Fall arrives, most people think about hunting. Me? I think about spinner fishing for Brown Trout. Specifically, Michigan Brown Trout fishing. Fall is the time of year when trout seem to slap on the ol' feed bag as they prepare to spawn. Fall is the time for fishing small creeks for trout. Really big trout! You will often see big trout chase and slam a spinner with reckless abandon. When it comes to Fall, small creek Brown Trout fishing does not mean small Brown Trout. I don't think getting out on a rainy day hurt either.

Nice fish. On on par with you for the first couple but that one was big. I'm impressed. I've been having good luck with the salmon. Hopefully the brown trout bite turns on for me. We'll find out Sunday morning. Cool video. Thanks.

Fished my first browns this year. They are such an aggressive fish. Especially when they are spawning. Great video bud.

Great video Ryan ! Some real good browns landed! Congrats on that that trophy brown ! Your right , it’s not easy and often you get these big boys to the net , so it’s got to be a great feeling! Keep em coming ! What spinner were you using?

I tend to stick to the old adage, silver when sunny and gold when cloudy. I was throwing a #2 gold Blue Fox. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. It's appreciated.

Those giant brown trout barely fit in the net seems like that river is loaded with big brown trout, I love catching those brown trout. Awesome video my friend. I just subbed .👊

Good looking video. Just wondering: is it just Michigan (maybe just some part of Michigan?), or are the more states in the US that have no restrictions on brown trout fishing during their spawning period? Also it is sort of interesting why there are no restrictions. I mean, they're not native, it's an introduced species, but that surely is not the reason why, or is it? That large one was in front of a fresh spawning bed, btw. Tight lines!

Good question. 80 - 90% of the trout streams close in Michigan at the end of September and do not open again until the end of April. With that being said, there are a handful of streams that remain open. When fishing during the spawn, while I cannot speak for everyone, I leave the bedding females alone if possible and target the males. But, it is impossible to keep all the females from hitting your lure as they are pretty aggressive this time of year.
