This was so an emotional journey. In the 60s I lived in The Royal Borough and walked everwhere. The mews and the backstreets. The squares and the parks. Visiting friends. Pub lunches, Harrods, Montpelier Street, Kings Rd. So many ghosts. And the bitter sweet smell of London rain. Thankyou.
I live in the USA 🇺🇸, I love the Donovan Song “Sunny South Kensington “ and always day dreamed what it was like to live there in the 1960s swinging London 🇬🇧😭
Never stop filming! After watching this video I felt as if I visited London myself and walked through the rain. I don't have money to travel so your videos are the only travellings I can afford lol. Thank you so much for this amazing experience!!💜💜
The buldings are beautiful and unique. Streets are clean. The weather is gloomy and peace. I imagine walking through those streets with my beloved one.
Also, I greatly appreciate the fact you pan the camera around to fully capture the view/building from all angles instead of just straight ahead. So many others don’t! Thank you ❤️
I just wanted to watch this to remember what rain is like. It’s very dry here in California.we are having a severe drought, everything is so dry. It’s very refreshing ☔️💦☂️
I 've been in Kengsington long ago and I fell in love with London, it"s my ideal city with constant rain and victorian houses. This video brings me very pleasant memories.
15 minutes in and really enjoying it. It's the closest I'll ever get to seeing any part of England. My best friend of ten years was going to take me there to visit his family but he died before we could in 2015. Thinking of you and missing you, James. ❣
I'm loving your videos, Thanks to you, I get to intimately experience places that I never would have otherwise. thank you so much for making and sharing them.
Amazing! Walking through pretty side streets, beautiful mews, and a lively high street in this upscale area with stately Victorian buildings in London's Kensington on a dull, rainy day, from Notting Hill Gate Station to High Street Kensington Station, through this upscale area with stately Victorian buildings, through pretty side streets, beautiful mews, and lively high street. Thank you for sharing your work! You are awesome!
I want to live in a beautiful pastel house on a rainy side street in London! 😍 Thank you for this quiet, reflective walk -- perfect for a Friday morning ❤️
I've never been to London but I love watching black and white movies and it reminds me so much of a lot of the stars from there; and world of history.....One day I would visit.
I had a student friend who was staying in Kensington, London. We often went for walks around Kensington/South Kensington, especially around the mews areas, sometimes very late at night, but we were never troubled, it was very peaceful. Our favourite place though that we sometimes visited was Hamptead for that village like atmosphere, its winding streets and the Heath. The rainy weather adds to London's unique atmosphere. It's a nice walk, and certainly brings back memories. I hope you didn't get too wet.
I loved your walk-through London-Kensington particularly when you stop to read the historical markers. Thank you and please keep up the good work of entertaining us with these British- neighborhood walks.
Really professional - the fact that you show the architecture, instead of just walking along/past it all, is really appreciated. Also I like to see the snippets of history which you come across. Thank you for the vid.
A real treat! I've always loved the rain: the sounds, the reflections, even the sense of coziness under an umbrella - it energizes me and makes me feel happy. Now that I live in the land of ice and snow, I do miss English rain, early blossoms, and winter hanging baskets outside pubs... and the architecture of course. Cheers and thank you, from Montreal.
Beautifully done. All this is my idea of hell as I live in the beautifully quiet Canadian town of Collingwood, on the shores of Georgian Bay. I was born in London, UK a long time ago, and these walks bring back happy memories - but living amid all that noise and chaos would drive me crazy! John, Ontario, Canada
Hi John. I relate alot to that.as I loved London but with time now my late 40s I was seeking a more serene peaceful natural existence to write and draw. How did you prepare for your move.?
Still hoping to travel one day and get to do some walks for myself. I love your format with the captions, many walkers talk as they go but I don't always want that. Wonderful to experience the sounds of the street on its own.
If this footage were shot in Los Angeles, there would be homeless tents and encampments literally everywhere. You would be stepping over them and their refuse. This video reminder of normalcy is instructive for residents of LA, like me, who come across it. Thank you 🙏🏻
Don’t forget this is a very expensive part of London - it’s by no means typical of other parts of town, where there are plenty of people sleeping rough.
Thank you for another wonderful video. It’s so interesting when you go into neighborhoods to see the mixed-use buildings and different architectural styles.
Hello. I have not seen walking videos available for a while, and I did keep watch for them. So, I am so delighted to "see" you again. Thank you! I have subscribed again so that I do not miss them. Take care all. From Orange County California 🙂.
Memories: I lived in South Kensington. I miss it, however, not so much London as a whole. My god, heat-fires around London first time ever? It could do with this weather right now. Subbed.
What a contrast this area is to somewhere like Vauxhall. This is my sort of London, if I could afford a house in one of these streets, I would be happy never to go beyond these boundaries of Kensington and Chelsea, if that was the deal!
Had a nice sit down and watched your lovely Kensington walk❣️ I really am transported when I have time to relax and enjoy all the details - the homes, restaurants and churches are my favorite aspects of this wonderful place (not to forget pubs and double deckers! ) thanks so much for guiding us as always LL🗽
Thank you so much for the captions! So great for me to ‘take a walk’ in London from my couch in Australia and actually know what it is I’m looking at thanks to you! 😀 Brilliant job ❤️
Just found your channel and not even a quarter way through it and can say great job. Most videos like this have a myopic view, you show the whole area, both sides, up and down.
My favourite area of London. I go every Saturday, mainly to the library. Jimmy Page lives around there as does Robbie Williams i'm guessing since they're neighbours. I've seen Jimmy a few times. His house exterior is pretty cool.
This is a beautiful video!! The little streets and alleys with the Mews are so pretty. The first time we came here, we enjoyed walking around this area !! Can't wait to visit again!!!
A lovely experience. Thank you. I spent some months in London 40 years ago. This is a walk I might have taken but didn’t. It’s delightfully realized. The camera movement transmits the feel of walking. You stop, as I might, for whatever catches your eye. I love the rain, The verbal silence, the street sounds, give the video a real reality. I no longer have legs or lungs for even a short walk. Thank you for walking for me. I’ve only got to Phil limore Walk but I have to sleep awhile. z
Perfect lighting made this incredibly sharp video achievable! All the visual elements worked great in leading the viewers’ focus to the subject. The foreground added the perfect depth to this upload. The intense colors are tastefully used to create a compelling video. Amazing effort guys....thanks for shaing!!!!🥰🤩❤💯👍
Thank you for your wonderful videos of London. I’m an American and I’ve been to some of the places, and others I have not. I miss it so much. Your videos make me almost feel like I am back.
Hey Mr. WW I love a rainy day you are the best I don't how many times I tell you you take your time to bring us your travels for me since I can't be in the sun during the chemo time so I hang out with you have a fun Friday you friend Cindy 😀
Hello Cindy, I hope chemo is going as well as it can do. We have been having some lovely weather this week, it almost feels summery during the day! Take care and hope to see you at the next premiere, whenever that is 😀
The Muffin Man is still in business! I had the great delight to go to the UK in 2010. We actually stayed in the Holiday Inn, but it wasn't a Holiday Inn at the time. The hotel breakfast was overpriced, so we stopped at The Muffin Man every morning! It was right on the way to the underground! I don't know if it has changed, but at the time they made a pretty delicious, hot breakfast for a very reasonable price. And wonderful pots of tea!
Sitting in my 1930's cottage very late at night in Perth, Western Australia, I thoroughly enjoyed you taking me through the back streets of Kensington. I have never been there in person, but I really got the feel of life for those who live there. My favourite little place was Gordon Place near the Elephant and Castle.. I loved the sound of the rain, the cars going by, and the one thing that was missing for me was the sound of your footsteps. You must have been wearing very quiet shoes because I couldnt hear them. I do love to hear the click click of shoes on the street, so next time maybe you have some noisier shoes to wear ? The blossom on the trees was lovely, showing that spring was in the air, and those quiet streets where people had painted their houses in glorious colours of blue, yellow, pink, green etc. I was very surprised that so many streets had no other place to park than the roadside, I guess the car wasnt invented when they were built. The other noticable thing for me was that so many of the properties were still enveloped in black wrought iron from days gone by, very charming indeed !! Thank you so much WW for giving us this tour, I will definitely be watching more of your work in future, you are doing a great job....
Thanks Valerie, funny you mention the sound of footsteps, when I wear shoes that make more sound some viewers complain about that, it's impossible to please everyone! 😀 I'm glad you enjoyed this walk, love to Perth!
@@WatchedWalker I guess you could do your walk alternatively with noisy shoes and quiet shoes, as you say, you just cant please everyone, but thanks so much for your reply, I look forward to more of your lovely walks !
nice job! - I'm curious how your rig is setup, no one is starting at you so it would appear subtle. I see the equipment you are using, but wonder how you are holding it all and so fluid at the same time. I like to ambient audio pickup as well. I'm working while this plays in the background - love it.
