I know this is an older video, but this hit a bit close to home. I'm white. My girlfriend is white. When a black family started moving into their neighborhood, her mom started getting nervous. Talking about the neighborhood becoming less safe. Any time something randomly bad, even so much as dog poop left out, it was "those new neighbors." It doesn't matter that they're nice people. It doesn't matter that they helped me and my friend when his car got stuck in the snow. They had the wrong color skin. Fuck that shit.

@Quatuor Virtutibus. I would say that your girlfriend’s mother was spot-on. When the black family moved in the white racists transitioned from a latent state to an active state. When white racists become active they are very dangerous. @TheModernSnipez. I am doing some research on white neighborhoods becoming less safe when a black family moves in but am having difficulty coming up with any statistical data that will support that. Perhaps you could provide me with a link. Thanks.

I want to see a show on Wisecrack that is deep intellectual analysis of extremely superficial music. Like a old dignified dude with a British accent reading the lyrics to a Nikki Minaj song as if it were fine literature. I think that'd be funny.

Well, some years ago, there was this parody called "Country Shakespeare" on one of the Country Music stations, where a guy would recite the lyrics to a country song translated into pseudo-Shakespearian and then the callers had to say what the song actually was.

I saw this play when it was done at the Dallas theater center and the ending was the most spectacular thing I Remember. Mama was standing in the middle of the stage joyous and laughing and then walls of the apartment split in half and reveal the new house their moving to which was the set for the sequel play Clybourne Park.

Great video! This book was one of the first required readings I went back to a few years after getting out of college. It moved me to tears. I didn't even bother reading the book when I was in high school. The idea of exposing kids to great literature at an early age has merit, but with immaturity and lack of life experience, it just doesn't make sense to them and more than likely bores them to tears. Just my thoughts.

Sparky Sweets, this was another awesome episode and I thank you for it, makes me want to read this book (and a lot more you've reviewed). I hope it isn't rude of me to suggest a book you might like, but I was curious to see what your opinion would be on the Marquis De Sade's novels "Justine" and "Juliette", since one book follows a character who tries to be good and finds misery while the other book shows someone doing what others deem evil to achieve happiness. I feel like the Marquis De Sade's philosophies on meaning, sex, violence and nihilism could make an interesting analysis. Regardless, whatever you review will always be fun to watch!

I saw Lorraine Hanesberry play performed when I was 10 yrs. old and was moved and woke on a deep level. Also, Sidney Poitier was outstanding in the film as Walter Younger. You know Sidney with all the gritted teeth, righteous indignation and barely suppressed anger he brought to the role. Yet nothing beats the written word.
