Haha, I kept wondering why I had sentiments when I didn't have snowy escape. I maybe there was more "special" sentiments I wasn't getting unless I paid
Oh great, thanks for telling, felt so confused a while. My memory said just that, but when you said the other way first I was afraid my brain had broke.
Ironically the vast majority of us who own City Living are screaming out for more apartments and city style worlds....San Sequoia is a total missed opportunity.
I mean the same way they make the same neighbourhoods and still we buy the packs why would they think people will suddenly not buy city living if they made another city. Isn't the game a life simulation after all? Real life place have plenty of cities.
@Prince Theo TM me too! It's one of my top 3 eps in the Sims 4 era. With the focus of City Living being on Festivals/Culture I honestly can't see why there couldn't be another City Based EP with a different focus. I'm aware comments like that could get me destroyed by the Sims Community 🤣🤣🤣
Honestly one of the reasons I admire you so much is that you don't sugarcoat shit. You say things as they are, you're brutally and unapologetically honest. When you think something isn't right you SAY IT, you don't excuse it just because it's one of your favourite games. You don't kiss EA's ass even though it means you might never get to work with them. There are very few creators out there like you which is why I'm very glad I found your channel. If you see this, I hope it makes you smile ❤
What I like more is that she isn't overly negative for it's own sake, she's actually constructive, provides arguments and balances positives and negatives and it doesn't feel shallow.
@@uneconqueambulante2094 I haven't come across any simmer who isn't constructively negative though. Most of the time when i see the people who have a permanent smile over the game they tend to just be saying it's fun but rarely justify what's fun about something that's clearly bad... Like lilsimsie laughing at the aging up glitch and saying "at least this item's cute, right" in my wedding stories...... Like yeah we get it B***, you're being payed but why would i actually want that?
@@citrusbutter7718 I mean it's still good to have a few simmers who try to be positive and see the silver lining of things. I personally do like simsie's reviews bc they do make me appreciate things more, it's great to have a counterbalance bc let's not lie the community can be very gung-ho about thrashing the packs at times.
The fact they thought this was okay after the Pet add-on boggles my mind people already went for them, the wedding pack made it even worse as did an update between My First Pet's Stuff and said wedding pack. They're not going to learn and it's why so many of us just gave up on The Sims 4, there's literally nothing that can fix this anymore. EA pressuring packs to come out the way they have instead of looking at how it's continuing to break the game and the packs come out buggier then a Bethesda game. It's not being negative to be negative at this point...Sims 4 died years ago and is nothing but a husk and people moved on from the series entirely and are waiting for one of these other sims like games or we went back to older Sims games. People thinking it will change are at this point very much in denial at the situation.
@@Arcanua i still very much play the sims 4. its not so much that i keep hoping the game will change (cuz im not foolish enough to think it will drastically change this many years into its lifespan) its more just that ive given in and accepted the sims 4 for what it currently is so that i can just keep playing the sims in general.
@@chelskaf in hoping the other games coming to market like Paralives and Life by You makes EA squirm. They're getting competition, which they desperately need right now
THANK YOU. My biggest gripe is that the milestones for the infants COMPLETELY replace skill building. They could have still had all the memories of firsts while still making them playable without the pack. At least the toddlers earn skills like potty and then are able to unlock new interactions as they go up in level. The new infants are just there and the novelty died real quick
@@MissingSirius I mean they literally aren't wrong though. Infants aren't capable of much irl. It's why I didn't care for infant being a thing at all. We could of had preteens or something else.
@@datekaname2246 I really wanted something like Pre-Teens too we already have young adult...making babies and toddlers "interesting" does nothing fun for this game and makes an already annoying life stage MORE annoying thanks to adding 'interest" by taking away functions from them and making them need even more management they shouldn't when most people don't play with the stage since it can't do anything. Sure that's to real life but defeats the want to play the stage. Sims 4 kids are a good example when compared to older games where they could do a whole lot more, expansion packs or not. It's fine to expand a life stage in a pack but like, why did it have to be the most boring and annoying one :/ Make kids actually fun to play again babies and toddlers don't need anything as per real life.
I was going to buy it, I was going to end my 1.5 year boycott from buying EA games, but when the infant update came out and I was changing diapers in the air….. because the changing tables were behind a paywall… the rest of the matching furniture behind a paywall…. I can’t in good conscience give EA another $40. Instead I bought Crusader Kings III with the money I set aside for sims packs. I am a legacy game player, but I can’t with EA. Thank you for your review, as always.
@@wtfisthis96 true, but I also bought all of my Sims 3 expansions when they were $2.99 on sale before Sims 4 launched. Way less sour about the three dollars I spent on Generations than $40 for this.
I love this review. You're so right for this. It's a simulation game, we shouldn't pay for the bare minimum. EA is just straight up greedy. edit: I am also going to take a nap thank you
I appreciate how honest and Done you are with EA’s shoddy business practices. As a salty sea dog myself some of the community’s wishy-washy, flip-floppy attitude towards things gets really old and hypocritical, but I know you’ll always tell it straight and cut the bull. Much love.
Infants really feel like they have progression, and when they reach toddlers, it doesn't feel like some big leap, like children to teens does. It feels natural, and i wish more of this in the future
Best review of this pack I have seen yet. I completely agree with you about the world. They need to stop with all the shells. It looks more like other bay area cities, not S.F. and that is being kind.
Honestly it doesn't even look like the Bay area period...it looks like a generic city from literally anywhere just plopped next to water and then totted as "based on San Francisco"
The fact that sentiments were part of a base game update, but milestones aren't really shows how far the game has fallen. Also, the fact that toddlers in the base game have skills, but infant skills are behind a paywall.
Yeah, you absolutely hit the nail on the head. As an adult with a well enough paying job, I could not imagine going back to the base game way of playing. It's perfect for my playstyle. I literally encounter a pack feature every five minutes unlike some other packs like Get Famous which I don't really use anymore. I do not regret my purchase. As the former kid whose parents didn't understand games and was only allowed to buy one expansion for the Sims 3 before my parents decided it was too expensive, I feel incredibly sad all of these features were behind a paywall. I logged on after the infants update but before the pack release and was so excited to play. It was awful without the pack, basically toddlers but worse, and I physically felt the pain and disappointment of being 13 again and knowing that it was all I was going to get. The infant update almost feels cruel to add to base game the way it is currently, like dangling something great just out of reach.
im not normally a conspiracy theory person, but in this instance im ALMOST willing to believe that they released infants in base game the way that they did ON PURPOSE. i mean if you think of it from a business perspective it would be genius. release a new feature in base game that a lot of people have been asking for for a very long time, but make it very bare bones bare minimum, and then show the players all of the cool expanded gameplay they could add to that feature if they just bought the expansion. a shitty thing to do for sure, but from a business perspective, very clever.
@@Bridenbrad Yup, I can see that. Also the way they muddled up the pack content and the base game content in the live stream. When I opened the game up after the update I kept looking around for stuff and getting surprised when I realised it was pack content not base game - like tummy time.
@@catkin1671 oh 100%, they did a really bad job of explaining which of the features they were showing off were going into the base game update, and which would be part of the paid dlc. they kinda just blended it together and showed it all off.
@@catkin1671 and honestly about the infant skills thing i didnt realize that was pack specific either at first. i remember playing with my first infant when the free update came out and then seeing him immediately be put on the ground as he started crawling around. and i was like "wait a minute, why is he crawling around and being put into a high chair? didnt they say in the livestream that your infant would have to learn to crawl before they could automatically do it, and they would have to learn to hold their head up before you could put them in a high chair?" then i realized that they DID say those things in the livestream...they just didnt tell us that without owning the pack, that infants would just automatically know all of those skills and you couldnt teach it to them in base game...needless to say i wasnt happy about that, and thats from someone who actually bought the pack lol.
It took me way too long as an adult with my own money to stop throwing money at every Sims 4 pack that came out, because I was so used to Sims 2 and Sims 3. So I appreciate your honest reviews! I'm pretty much always going to wait for everything to go on sale now, unless I super want something. I was pretty annoyed that the base game update came with ZERO changing tables, so now I'm just hoping for a modder to make one for base game :(
I love seeing that patreons list get longer with every video. You just stay independent and your review will forever be the only one I watch. Thank you for your hard work and making my day better
Im so glad you brought up the new world not looking ANYTHING like SF. Im from SF too and it’s so disappointing to see how BAD they did trying to take inspiration from the city and then executing it SOOOO poorly.
right?! like san fran has SO much culture and artistic influences in its design and activities, so they had so many different directions they could have gone in with the new worlds design...and instead they gave us willow creek 2.0...
I really want Growing together for the stuff that should’ve been in the basegame to begin with but I‘m waiting until it either goes on sale or until the guy I usually buy my packs from on eBay goes down with the price
@@LlamasAtMidnight it’s either a physical disc (if they still make those) or you pay a seller for a code that you enter and it unlocks the game download on sites like steam or origin etc.
I love this pack! I literally get sucked into playing for hours. If I could only have three add-ons to the game it would be growing together, snowy escape, and parenthood. I just love the family aspect and seeing the sims build relationships with each other.
I got a Sims 4 ad earlier and couldn't help but gasp, it was an ad for growing together, high school years and pets.... It was trying to sell me babies learning to crawl, teenagers going to school and animals for a LIFE SIMULATION game 💀 you'd have to pay around £90 to have basic game mechanics for a life simulation game
Its messed up isn't it? And we keep just falling into the same cycle over and over again and ea takes advantage of it 🙃 not enough people seem to understand they're in the cycle
THANK YOU, someone finally said it. this gameplay content is really cool but it should have just been in the base game already (or at least in parenthood)
I'm so glad I found your channel. I laugh so hard at these videos. "Does it really add anything to your gameplay? Not really but it's a really good way to gaslight yourself." 🤣 You are just EXCELLENT at this RU-vid thing. Plus it was a very accurate, in depth review! EA's loss for not having you as a game changer.
I’m glad you called this out. At this point, I’ve put too much money and time into the sims4 to not buy packs with essential gameplay. But with the way EA treats it’s fans and is so obsessed with money, I honestly can’t support any future projects they have. Would I love a Sims5? YES! Will it possibly have any good features from past games? NO! Will I buy the Sims5 when it comes out? NO! It’s honestly funny how so many game franchises go through this same route: Make a cool, tongue-in-cheek game with a slight edge -> create a large fan base who are dedicated to the clever writing/good gameplay -> make sequels that slowly drain out the original charm -> gain more fans who just want to check out the new popular game -> make sequels more expensive with less content/more paywalls -> lose longtime fans who are reliable buyers -> release new sequel -> people who only bought it because it is popular and jaded former fans don’t buy it -> company loses millions and spends years trying to convince fans they can change back like a toxic ex.
I love you so very much 😢and how your reviews are honest asf. Yours is the only one I wanted to watch. I literally WAITED for your review to come out cus I knew you weren’t gunna sit there and do nothing but boost their pack and make us buy it. You are my go to thank you !
I can see why this expansion wouldn't be for everyone, and I absolutely agree it should have been base game. That said, I'm really enjoying the addition to my occult family legacy game play. I do wish, however, there was more cross pack additions, like more vampire/werewolf/mermfolk etc., themed baby and kid items, as well as interactions between parents and infants. That might have made it feel more integrated into the existing game.
This is the best review I have seen of this pack. Yes, because you reviewed it after playing with it the way it was intended. I also like the video editing. Wow, I'm feeling positive today. Thanks!
Everything you said is true! The pack looks essential but EA should've let the sims team take more time to include these features in the base game way back instead of rushing them to release an unfinished game.
As someone who grew up in the Bay Area suburbs, I can’t help but love the world, like there is absolutely nothing to do but I guess what I love about California is that everything is just a few hours drive away, so like you travel to the beach, snow, mountains etc, so I kinda like the world for that reason. I feel like I’m inspired to go out and visit other places then come home to my quiet suburban life. I’m completely biased tho because it feels like my childhood and I also am living for making the lots quake zones to traumatize my sims more
OH THANK GOD. FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT SHOULD'VE BEEN PARENTHOOD. I've been thinking it for days seeing other ppl play the game but COME ON the pack is literally just abt family and what is parenthood if not family stuff. I was honestly writing a comment about how this pack should've been parenthood but held off until the end of the video and I'm glad I did.
i have been waiting for THIS so much! Ever since Sims 3 I’ve only been playing with the same family and I take like a year (plus breaks) to move to a new generation. My save file is from 2019 and I NEEDED this.
Considering half the content in this pack should have been base game, I'll wait for the cracked version. Also thank u for calling out other simmers for getting excited about the CAS finally being equal between genders and ages. It should be expected, not celebrated. EA is like the kid who does absolutely nothing but when they take their own plate to the sink everyone screams their praises
I literally just moved Xander from Buffy into the new world last night. Lol. I can agree. What in the world with so little of lots to build on? I don't like evicting other sims, but if I want more places to put sims, I have to evict others and bulldoze lots. 🤦♀
Your review is the first review I watch on the Sims. I also enjoy watching you play other games as I play a variety as well. I haven't watched other people's review of the Sims 4 DLC in a while but, if I do, it's after yours. I hope you have a dope n restful nap.
Thank you for presenting the pack so trough fully! And for playing the Sims for a while with this pack to understand it better! I love your honest reviews because it really makes me understand what expansion pack I'm looking at and wether i want it or not. So helpful☺️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for an honest review. I was going to give EA another chance with this pack after YEARS of abstaining - but I think I'm going to keep holding the line. None of this is worth $60 - it absolutely should have been in the base game.
just a slight nitpick but fgg made an oopsie when she said it was $60. assuming your in the usa the pack is only $40 not $60. a lot of it still should have been in the base game but yeah...
Great summary, thanks so much! You noted stuff I actually place value on, finally a review that actually let's me know what I might end up buying. Love your channel so much.
The reason I love this channel is Fake Gamer Girl's brutally honest reviews and opinions and no excusing the bull crap or being overly nice about the bare minimum, she feels like a real voice for the sims community and unfortunately I don't think sims youtubers like her will be game changers, because they're too honest for EA's liking. Plumbella I feel is as honest as she can be and I trust her reviews too, but it feels to me like the Game Changers either have to kiss EA's backside or tread a very fine line to not lose the Game Changer status, which isn't fair to them, how can they benefit the game if EA just wants them to be free, positive mouthpieces to advertise their stuff? I've noticed that pre order bonus items are becoming more of a thing and to get them you have to pre order during a time period before the Game Changers can get any reviews out, like they're trying to entice us into buying packs before we get to see if they actually work or are worth it 🤔
Love this review! EA absolutely shafted us with this pack. The way it was marketed made people forget infants weren't included, everything was linked back to infants. All the game play of teaching infants to sit up/crawl/ whatever SHOULD HAVE COME IN THE FREE UPDATE! It's not right. Basic play features should not be behind a paywall. Honestly if there was a way for me to get a full refund I would because I hate giving EA money
I just wanna give you a thank you. Because its refreshing to have someone give their raw and honest opinion about something, even if it can cost you some opportunities.
wow just...wow thank you,you actually talked me out of getting this pack. I was sold by everything you had been saying up until you talked about how this should've been in parenthood, and your right. I never thought of it that way. Thank you for your honesty. Like,Actually thank you.
I've now bought this, after the latest steam sale, and I'm really happy that I did. I truly love the gameplay that comes with it, HOWEVER, if you're a player who doesn't like the tiny things that comes with parenting, I don't think it's worth it. I enjoy the small things like tummy time and teaching how to crawl, and the tiny kicks the infant does when it gets its diaper changed (it's so cute, and I truly dislike babies irl) but if I hadn't, I would've been very disappointed. I still stand by that this pack should've been a base game update, but from a pack perspective, I really do like it, unfortunately (I say that because it shouldn't be behind a paywall to begin with).
i'm literally gonna wait until it's at like, 60% off on a key website or something lmao. i've been thinking about getting it but thank you for not sugarcoating it. i feel like this pack should have been included in the basegame because it's literally life. maybe ea wanted to sell it as an updated sort of gameplay and have the basegame be free to play. idk it feels weird that this is an expansion pack not gonna lie. like i said, it feels like basegame mechanics that you have to pay for
Growing together is what Parenthood should've been I feel like growing together should have also added more aspirations I know it adds 4 kid aspirations which personally I have been begging for but I don't know I feel like there could've been a Personal Growth aspiration? Like where they wanna get a job be promoted find someone to love unlock milestones and reunite with family kinda like the "Strangerville Hero" aspiration you know? Where it basically just guides you through the new pack and what there is to do? And it could be a family or knowledge aspiration they could have also added some new Elder aspirations too? Like maybe one where they wanna be active and stable even in their twilight years or one where they want to visit their children even their grandkids where they just want to spend their final moments with their family or one where they wanna stay in touch keep with the times and not the winds of old age sweep them away
My game won't even open because the update is so big I don't have enough disk space, even after upgrading my storage and deleting all my pride and joys stored on my files and YET-
These comments almost scared me from watching the video with how negative they are 😅 but I'm glad i watched anyway cause as always, your review was fair! I am a legacy simmer, this pack was right up my alley for everyday gameplay and its not a pack where you can obviously point to THE main feature. But it's already helping me shape my Sims and how they interact with each other and I love that. And the stay over feature is beautiful, it makes interacting with your friends and family much easier without having to leave your lot 😂 wanna introduce the family to the children? Invite them all over for a day and make it happen. I agree with the cas/build and buy/world comments. Honestly ever since eco lifestyle, the sims team have kept to a particular style and colour palette and this pack felt like more of the same. It's fine cause I like it, but it didn't stand out at all. But like seasons, and maybe parenthood, I can't imagine not playing with this pack from now on. It suits me perfectly, so I don't really care about the "it should have been in the base game" argument. I'm starting to think some people are thinking EVERY expansion should have been base game... I know EA is money hungry but come on.
Not to kick them when they're down BUT while the grey highlights are nice speaking for my fellow gingers the hair will just get spots where its alot brighter not really gray
