Great video brother. I have several Stoegers. the M3020, M3000, and M3500, and A Condor Supreme O/U, and they all function flawlessly right out of the box. I think Stoeger shotguns got a bad rep from their earlier models, but these seem to be fantastic, ZERO issues with either of them. I also Have a CZ Redhead Primer, and I love it, a thousand rounds in, and zero issues, and those ejectors really sling those empties.
That looks like an Aluminium receiver, I just bought a new tristar Trinity with the steel receiver, very nicely made and much nicer than these older offerings by Tristar
For the CZ, you absolutely will not find a better O/U in the sub $1k price range. Jewled, engraved, nice wood, tight fitting stock and forend, near perfect fit and finish, good bluing, perfect weight for field and clays use along with being very balanced feeling.
Nice review Thor! I really wanted a TriStar 20 GA for skeet and grouse hunting! Ordered one from Sportsman’s Guide and was looking forward to receiving it for XMAS. They notified me today and said that they could no longer meet the delivery. They’re mailing my deposit back! If I can’t find one at Walmart I might start looking for a CZ.
I have a Yildiz TK36 .410 single shot, the sweep of the rear stock reminds me of a CZ Bobwhite, it was made in Turkey, it has a 28" full choke barrel and weighs almost nothing so it kicks more like a 20 gauge. That being said, the fit and finish on the gun is amazing, that's what sold me on it, not much demand for a really long, really light weight .410 but my youngest daughter squirrel hunts with it and manages the recoil.
Nice review. I know own 3 CZ shotguns. Drake in 20 guage. Woodcock in 20 guage and a teal in 12 guage. Something about CZ I just really like. I started a Facebook page for them. CZ shotgun owners.
I just bought a tristar s/t seter haven’t got to try it yet hopefully it’s a good gun and good shooter I’ve sean mixed reviews on this gun hope I didn’t make a mistake we’ll see
Lol, I must agree. great video tho. just sub'd to the channel. I have a Stoeger condor supreme, and its fantastic. im currently looking into one of these tristars, but im looking at the TT-15 Sporting, or the Yildiz Sporting.
I purchased 0ne about a year & a half ago. If & you set it on over The both barrows will work fine, but if you shoot under first neither barrows will fire. I texted the company never got back to me. I forgot about it for a while. I am disappointed on that. I blame my self for not falling up on this. The gun looks grate & my son wants to buy it. I say 90% there fault for not getting back to me & 10% my fault for not falling up on it. So much for Tristar.
Well, I don't know what to say, Mine works just fine, It maybe something you should pursue with Tristar, I have seen where their customer service is great. a friend of mine had the charging handle on a semi auto come loose while firing, Tristar put a whole new bolt in it at no charge. Try calling their customer service line. Just go to their website.
Great shotgun. I have the Turkish equivalent model of Woodcock Deluxe. Huglu is a very reputable 60-70 year old shotgun company from Turkey and produces very reliable products. You can count on it. By the way, pronunciation is like: Hulu.
Glad to see that you're enjoying shotgunning. FYI, it's very important to grease all the action bearing surfaces including the flats, locks and hinge pins in order to reduce wear.
You are right on both accounts. shotgunning is a new challenge for me, I find that the old good habits are hard to break and like with any new style of shooting develops a whole set of new bad ones as well. My hang up now is front sight, my eye is catching the front sight and I have the discipline to only look at that from shooting rifle and pistol. then, I do the stupid thing "Think about it" while I'm playing catch up with the bird. Changing disciplines is the hardest thing for shooting sports. there becomes a point at a range where you accept a lost bird. Most people don't challenge themselves and shoot real "no crap" trap. they have a simple foot launcher right in front of them and the bird goes left, right or straight out. Having the trap house 16 yards out in front of you gives you less time to get your shot in, you only have about 25-30 yards past the trap house to make a good shot, and you never know which way the bird will come out of the house. when I first started doing this I didn't know what I was doing, my scores were higher, however, now that the brain is trying to learn, my scores have dropped and it is all from over thinking and anticipation. Good advice on greasing he wear spots. any metal to metal hinging or locking contact spots should have a light coat of grease. I am very pleased with the CZ, it should last me for years as I go down this road. Btw, thanks for the advice you have given me, Not just this, however, when I first started this adventure. Dave.
Rig Universal Gun Grease works great. And yes, learning to focus on the bird instead of the front sight is the hardest part of transitioning from handgun/rifle shooting to shotgunning. Does your range have a pro who could coach you? Investing in a few hours of lessons from an expert helped me a lot in the beginning.
Dang I was in the middle of cleaning my 1911 then I found this, so I took a 20 minute break. That CZ looks pretty nice, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! For the price it has nice features, now let that old body heal up before ya go shooting again buddy.
You are welcome. too bad that the Turks have this stigmatism of producing mid grade shotguns. I can't see it in the quality Vs. price. for a reasonable price, you can have a High-grade shotgun that will fit most of what people use a shotgun for, Like you, I work for a living and demand quality in the products that I buy. I guess that in any country where things are made you have below grade manufacturers, this in the United States attracts people to buy these products because of it's low price. often times we are discouraged at the quality that our money bought us. I believe that quality is a people company thing, not a country thing of where it was made. Thanks for Watching and good shooting to ya. Dave.
Cool. I found a 20 gauge with 26 inch barrels at my local Walmart about 6 months ago. I just shot at the first time a few days ago at a local gravel pit. Five shots. Shooting some skeet in the next couple of weeks. I'm hoping I will be happy carrying this as a ruffed grouse gun come October. Appreciate your input
20 gages don't get the credit they deserve, A 20 has less recoil and faster velocity than a 12 gage. In a trap gun the 20 is a real contender- Thanks for the Comment. -Dave
That ‘case hardened’ finish is not truly case hardened. It’s a chemical process that anyone can do with blueing or Jax. It’ll eventually wear off, but you can redo it yourself. It’s a good field gun.
WOW you must really "powderize" them clay skeet targets using Full Chokes ( @14:40 minutes ) if you hit them!!! Thanks for the vid, i'm looking for a 20 ga. CZ O/U and your info is helpful. I have several CZ pistols and rifles (love them all) but no shotguns yet.
There is a lot of gunsmiths any more that do custom work on CZ firearms. Ya, I like to keep those patterns tight, at the 16-yard line, that is 16-yards of nothing before the bird comes out of the trap house, after that you have about a 25-yard window to score your shot because the pattern keeps opening up.
CZ makes an excellent shotgun. I shoot with a Skeet shooter who is AA in 20 and 28 gage and the shotgun he uses for these two calibers is a 12 gage CZ equipped with Briley Companion tubes. While they are a budget shotgun the cost cutting is mainly in how the stock and forearm are finished. For example the laser cut checkering is simply laser engraved lines, not the 3D shaping that is done by Beretta with it's laser cut checkering. BTW, good news here is that those lines are VERY easy to follow with a Checkering File so with a bit of care and work you can have a very nicely hand checkered stock and forearm. Concerning the Chokes. The 12 gage CZ uses choke tube that are the same as the Beretta Mobile Choke. However with the 20 gage line the thread pitch of the Choke Tubes is NOT the same as the Beretta Mobile 20 gage. So don't waste your time trying to get the 20 gage Beretta Mobil chokes to fit because you will end up having to return them. Good news is we have the Internet today so some time spent on either Carlson's or Briley's web sight will have you receiving the correct chokes within 3-5 business days.
For the money, you can't beat them. I see where the triggers could use some work, however, they are right on the money in their release. I believe that the Teal, redhead and the woodcock are all the same gun with different finishes. I'm happy with mine. I would like to get a Twenty Ga. for skeet and sporting clays. I would recommend anyone going out to upgrade what they already have as starter guns the CZ is an excellent value. Thanks for watching and good shooting to ya. Dave
I have put thousands of rounds through mine shooting trap and sporting clays, have killed a lot of birds with it as well. I would no issue of getting another one.
Nice guns, I had a friend's brother blow his Tristar apart, not exactly sure of the situation of how it happened but it was fairly new. I Just bought a CZ Mallard o/u... I believe the "jewelling" you were referring to is surface grinder marks during production, I've used a couple and that is the exact finish
I stand corrected if I made a misleading statement. One of the things that has happened to the shotgun world is Turkish shotguns have been outclassing in quality for price. Ruger is a quality product, however there are mixed reviews from people better qualified whether or not the ruger product is worth what they ask for them. others like Remington has felt that same pinch with their pump action and auto loaders. It is a labor thing, Turkey has a different economy than we do here in the U.S. and that seem to be a problem with all the United States manufacturers, Cars, shipbuilding, construction, you name it. I am pleased with my CZ, many of the shotgun guys at our club think it is a excellent shotgun, it points when shouldered right off the bat and the swing while shooting the clay targets in natural. So, I will admit that Ruger isn't my brand, however the silver and red labels have a quality reputation. -Dave
I agree. I have a TriStar Hunter EX 16 gauge O/U. I love it. I also have a Viper 28 gauge semi auto. Again...love it. Stoeger? No thanks. Prefer Mossberg when it comes to that price class Just my humble opinion.
I have been looking to purchase one of the CZ's. They basically have a modernized B-25 action. I don't see why they wouldn't last a long time without issues. The CZ is just seems better. CZ also seems like they could be around 15 years from now vs Tristar,,,,,
The wair and tear is on the action, just like the berettas and browning. eventually, the action develops play in the lock-up, the pivot pins can be replaced though, however, that is a long time down the road on the CZ. By that time a person who is really into sporting shotgun will have other shotguns in their possession. That is my thoughts on it, in the way of the Tri Star, that shotgun was designed at making and shotgun that was over under and affordable to a wide group of people who wouldn't buy one because of the cost. I believe that the Tri star is a good buy for a working gun. That's my thoughts on it- Dave
I would love a response who told you the Ruger Red Label was made in Turkey? I have no problem with turkey guns I have several but don't you say that red labels are made in Turkey
the Ruger Red Label was DEFINITELY made in the USA. I shoot a 28 gauge Red Label along with a few Turkish guns and sorry but the Turkish guns don't hold a candle to it.
I have seen lots of trophies won with CZ guns, Not just local events, However,, by top shooter events endorsing the CZ quality. Sorry, but that is a fact. I haven't seen many Rugers having the same promotion of quality.
This line of their shotguns are available in 26 to 28 inch barrels, I like a 28" myself, it doubles as a field gun and trap/skeet gun. Again, I have seen nothing but positive reviews on the CZ over/under shotgun series.
I really don’t think you can go wrong with CZ. If you do some digging around in the internet, some guys have put 30-40K rounds through them with no problems. Most of the issues have seemed to be resolved after 2007 and the forums reflect that as well. Anyways, I hope that helps!
I had trouble right way with mine, it was so tight you couldn't open it with out extra effort and the shells wouldn't eject enough to crab the shell to unload , had to use my pocket knife to dig it out ? I ended sending it back!!!!😡
Well, that is tough news. at my gun club they have started a category for guns below the $500 mark and it is interesting to see how these guns perform in the hands of people that have been shooting trap for years. It looks like you got one that got out the door with poor fitting, even the big makes have that problem. anyway, good luck with another over under whether it is a Tri Star or not. -Dave
This is the Hunters Model. I have to admit, the one I got is well fitted and the triggers break clean, I'm not disappointed in what my money bought me. I would stay away from the other brands that compete with shotguns in this price range. I have seen the reviews of the Tristars and it has been positive about their quality. Good shooting to ya, Dave.
I believe so. from what I have experienced so far, it is a well-made shotgun and has all the features that a person could want. these guns retail for less than a thousand dollars and I don't see at my level advantage in spending anymore.
It is a learning thing with Trap shooting. I do pretty well at it. Many people out there put the launcher at their feet, because that is the way the launcher is designed when they describe and demonstrate trap shooting. it is a bad example because when shooting trap the trap house is 16 yards away. by the time it launches the bird you only have about 25 yards to make a good solid hit. the trap game is about prediction first, predicting what direction the bird will leave the trap house (To the Left or right) this is where the body positions take place as you move down the line. also, there are very few people that use the top barrel I have found out in the trap game. the bottom barrel rolls your shot better on target as the first shot, learning this as a technique is a great help in the continental doubles and the sporting clays games. I don't always remover my chokes when cleaning the gun and spinning them is fine, the trick is that you don't want the powder residue to cake up and always use a suitable grease on the threads, I use Permatex copper anti-seize Lubricant. that recommendation came from many other shooters as "The stuff to use". Right now I am using an improved cylinder as the bottom choke and a full modified in the top. I'm giving this a whirl. Good shooting to ya, Dave
Dave - Next trip up to the northern territories, we've got to shoot some trap together..!! Hope your shoulder lets you keep in the game... Till then, Best to ya, Steve
I haven't tried steel shot, steel shot can be a whole other animal. I stick with lead for my target shooting, Hunting is another story and I haven't done that yet.
CZ.Com says its discontinued! They still have some at Sportsman Warehouse. I asked about the Drake and even its being dropped by one of my local gun stores in Sacramento. CZ listed a few local stores and they said Huh? We can order CZ over under shotguns only a $1000! Forget it Ill get a Browning or Beretta.
FYI - according to CZ-USA website, warranty is 5 years on mechanical parts and 1 year on wood not 10 years as stated in video. Your model could be different but wanted to state what website said for your followers.
FYI- In my Manufactures warranty card supplied with my shotgun, parts, and workmanship is warranted for ten years from the date of purchase. Idk, Maybe the mail is a little slow someplace. You tell me?
@@Thorsaxe777 If you have proof the warranty is 10 years then that is good enough. I don't know why their website says different but as long as you know what you have from your own documentation that's all that matters. 10 years is better than 5 so that works to your advantage. I have contemplated picking up a CZ Redhead and read about the warranty when researching it.
I looked at the website and you are correct about their warranty, I followed up with a phone call to their service dept. and they confirmed it also, So I asked them to explain the card warranty and they said that there are typos that have went out with certain guns in their warranty service, and it is as you say, 5 years, however, I was surprised about the wood, most of the big companies do not cover stocks and wood attachments. anyway, I'm glad that you brought this up. Thanks Dave.
The wear is not normal ! Lube from day one ! And every cleaning ! After every outing Of shooting ! Clean & lube, it does wonders ! Unless you like the idea of having metal on metal ? Try running your car without motor oil ?
Video was alright but you do need to grease your bearing surfaces better and Ruger was never made anywhere else than in United State and it was first made in 20 gauge
It is a modern shotgun made of a current manufacturer, CZ is aware of the legal restrictions brought about by our conservation act that prohibits the use of lead shot for hunting migratory birds in the United States. The instruction manual does not address the use of steel shot as being Not recommended or new chokes specially made for steel shot have to be purchased for the use thereof. I wouldn't worry too much about it because these shotguns are made with the American Market in mind of their manufacture. CZ is a great company to deal with in their warranty and product feedback, I'm sure they would answer any questions you would have about replacement chokes and the use of aftermarket ones. That was a good question, I'm just shooting Trap for now where I use my own homebrewed lead shot and it works just as good as any other shot for sporting clays. Thanks for watching.
So tell me axe why do you think everyone needs a entry level gun? None of my guns are expensive, but I never really thought I needed a really expensive gun.PS Italy always made great guns. They were making guns before anyone.
Then don’t buy light guns for sporting clays! That seems pretty obvious! Light guns are great for hunting when you’re putting a lot of miles on your boots.
Highly reccommend that you DO NOT buy CZ shotguns, After only one cleaning the finish on the receiver is gone and chrome lining on barrels shows signs of peeling off.
@@Zat77 That's great, 3 people out of thousands and thousands have had a problem with their gun. You should work for the government and give us covid updates.
Avoid CZ shotguns like the plague. I bought one, it was defective and while they offered to change it will take 10 MONTHS to get the replacement. Meanwhile, I'm left without a gun but they don't care, they have my money.
If you think that 300 rounds is any indication of the value of a shotgun, you have no idea of how to do a review. Put 100,000 rounds through it, then come back, and do a review.
You are correct in your statement, I was never been a shotgunner before now, I green out there and all I'm doing is evaluating the fit and finish, the overall workmanship is quite nice on the CZ. It isn't a Browning or a Beretta, however, it wasn't in that price range ether. I have fired thousands of round through my .45's and .22 pistols, and Match rifles that was my forte as a Bullseye shooter. Maybe that doesn't cut the mustard in the shotgun circles, however, I have won many regional and national competitions. My video is about what I know on my level and not what I think. I wasn't misleading anyone to believe anything other.
