Jordan Harvey low key hoped McDonnalds would include the Croque McDo [google it] in the international favorites promotion. Apparently Canadian bacon & elemental cheese is a bridge too far 🤷♀️🤷♂️
when Alex said: 'I don't think straight people think this hard about whether they're straight or not.' I felt that. it was like mcquiston took a time machine to when I was a closeted gayby in middle school & took notes.
As an American liberal, I would definitely get a kick out of the book’s utopian political environment. I don’t care if it’s cheesy. Hell, I like cheese on my Double Quarter Pounders, so it’s all good. Sadly, I haven’t read this book yet, but I’ll be sure to add it to my wish list. Thanks for the wonderful video!
The only reason I read this book it's because Alex and his family is Mexican and I enjoyed when the author referenced Alex's family background in her book constantly otherwise probably it would have taken me a long time to read the book. Thank you for the review 👍
as a bi gal, that entire 'henry & alex get outed + who did it??' part of the ending had me by the heartstrings the entire time. i was in the middle of a big testing session during the whole time i was reading the book & ngl i had to prevent myself from crying at school a couple of times. y'all look amazing in this video btw!
eva m Thanks! And yeah, I think it’s definitely meant for a specific audience/headspace. I was really in the mood for something romantic and fluffy which is why I enjoyed it so much :)
I don't know if anybody else agrees with me, but while I was reading this book, I got the feeling that the rivalry was one-sided. I always thought that it was only Alex who had the negative opinion of Henry, rather than both of them being mutual rivals.
Hey Jordan!! About a month ago I read this book called Stepsister by Jennifer Donnelly which is a story after Cinderella ends and tells us about one of her stepsisters, Isabelle, and i LOVED it!! I really recommend it & hope you'll give a review on it, either in video or response to my comment if you do read it! love you btw
Lol, everything about this screams "outside my demographic" so I don't have that much to say, other than - am I crazy? Maybe it's because the video started in 360p but I look at you and Aiyana on one end of the couch and I feel like I'm watching the scene where the protagonist is cornered by the evil doppelganger and the co-star Heidi(?) has to figure out which one to shoot before the credits roll. But I'm scrolling down and no one else seems to think you two look alike. Also America didn't go the way I expected to after Obama either, although, I probably would have been _more_ likely to make a satire given the way things turned out. Maybe the author thought skewering the same targets wouldn't have set the right tone, but I can't help but think at this point imagining a Utopia feels silly enough to be a parody in its own right.
futurestoryteller yeah, I mean, I don’t think having the wish-fulfilment politics is for everyone, but the book is just a sweet love story and isn’t trying to be more than that, so I can’t really fault it! And btw - Aiyana and I hear that we look alike all the time. You’re definitely not alone there (although I don’t really see it)!
Yeah, I hear you on it just being a love story, but I'm fascinated by the author saying her work was going to be satire _before_ things got worse, usually satire exists to call out how bad things are. Also makes me wonder what the satirical elements would have been, because it doesn't sound like there was much room for them. My brother is like a year older than me, and I've met people convinced that we were identical twins, even though we sound more alike than we look alike, and at a point we looked nothing alike, we'd still get it. I'm not one of those people who always nods when someone says two people look similar, so you and Aiyana must be closer than you think. Then again I feel like my brain has been turning into mush lately, so it could be that, but hopefully not.
