$35k equates to about $50 per person/per day. I have sailed many cruises for that price (as cheap as $24 pp/pd). Of course there are taxes, fees, and tips which would make it very tough to consistently stay under $50 pp/pd. You must pay the taxes and fees but tips are optional. Maybe they don't tip.

I lost 10 lbs (185 - 175; I'm 5'11", aged 48) the last time I was on a cruise (10 day cruise + a week on each end in Sidney and Auckland); however, I was walking 10-15 miles a day in port, and would hit the gym (mostly) every other day for an hour when at sea (alternate days would be an hour walk around the deck; usually would cover 3 miles or so.) Note that I work in Big Tech, and have access to free buffet food every day; that amount of exercise is a bit more than my average, but not by much. As such, it was mainly the sit-down dinners that were causing me to loose weight. I have a number of (mild) allergies, and the cruise I was on had a dedicated concierge for restricted diet folks; so I ended up eating a lot of fish and salads and fruit.

From an environmental perspective the cruise ship industry is fairly toxic in terms of the marine diesel they burn and the spread of invasive species through ballast discharged. Also the vast amount of resources consumed and waste produced by the ship - I don't see any community gardens or recycling facilities on board. The passengers themselves have the most superficial engagement with the cultures at their destinations ("Malaysia was just great"). If I was going to choose a retirement lifestyle that would have some utility and not be entirely self-serving - this would be the opposite of that.

Life on dry land always seemed to leave Mike Soroker, 80, thirsty for more. And so, after taking just four cruises with wife Barbara, 75, and loving them all, the restless retirees made a dramatic decision - to buy a condo on a cruise ship and enjoy their final years sailing around the world. But the couple will be left to cool their heels on the dock for a little while, yet - their new floating home, Storylines’ MV Narrative, is currently under construction, only to set sail in 2026, and that’s if all goes according to plan.
@cashaeleatemla
@cashaeleatemla 10 месяцев назад
Soroker said he’s most excited to get to know the Middle East and see Antarctica, while his wife is looking forward to visiting Asia, a place she enjoyed spending time previously. But beyond the actual travel, the opportunities to make new friends - something he says they’ve experienced on previous voyages - is what interests them most.
@cashaeleatemla
@cashaeleatemla 10 месяцев назад
The couple will sell their New York apartment, and use their Boca Raton home as their temporary anchor. And while being at sea is “probably our long-term goal,” Soroker says, there’s no rush. The ship isn’t ready yet, and always there’s a chance something could go wrong in the meantime.

Even if they had the cheapest cabin on the cheapest cruise line to the cheapest destinations and never spent a cent on a drink or anything extra it is not possible. Show us your numbers guys - I challenge you. I am fed up of these ridiculous claims people make about living this dream lifestyle for a fraction of the cost of living a real life and people believe it - if it were that cheap and that easy no one would be living on land - show us your itineraries and costs for 365 days and be sure to include your insurance, your costs between cruises, flights, accommodation etc if they aren’t consecutive cruises, and where you have actually been - I dare you! Look at Super Mario who gives a realistic cost of living in an inside cabin about the same era as this video and the cost is US$82k a year with nothing extra no insurance, not a single drink etc that is an honest video

Retired lovers be ready. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life throught Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 God demonstrates his own love for us in this, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 Believe and repent today! The consequences are eternal.

@rogerout8875 because I'm pointing out how this liberal media cares more about cruises then dead school children unless it can be blamed on a Trump supporter.

Where did these ppl live, and what were their jobs, such that they were able to live off one salary and bank the other? Who paid for the schooling to get those jobs? This lifestyle wasn't possible even for my Boomer parents, can't see how the feature is relevant to anyone looking to retire *now*
