Hello lovely people!
In this video, I will be giving my personal views on Williams' masterpiece "A Streetcar Named Desire". The play deals with some very saucy topics such as illusion, sex and desire. So stay tuned to and please let me know what you think of my video.
Thanks, Hannah 🙋🏻‍♀️
P.s pleaaaase excuse my rambling, I did have a script but I just get carried away with this sort of thing.

Hi everyone! It's been almost a year since I posted this video for a module at university. Honestly, I posted it and completely forgot about it...until the views and comments rolled in!! A massive thank you to everyone that has supported this video - I really appreciate it! I'm coming to the end of my degree and will be graduating this year so life is BUSY! Maybe I'll post more videos in the near future. Lots of love, Hannah x

Hi Hannah! Call me crazy, but I watch the 1951 film about every six months or so just because there is SO MUCH in this masterpiece of Williams'! When you add director Elia Kazan - and all of the wonderful actors - we then have a true Hollywood classic. One more example of the Williams-Kazan brilliance is in Baby Doll (1956) again with Karl Malden and a host of truly wondrous actors in a freak show. Enough on the films...I want to thank you for fleshing out the setting of Streetcar in America after the depression and WW2. You brought to my mind aspects of the society in Stanley's neighborhood that I never thought of before. If this is the New South, it is even more repulsive to Blanche than the metaphorical streetcar that brought her there through the squalor that reflects centuries of decay wrought by the sins of the fathers visited on these daughters. Thank you for "rambling," as it were. I could talk about lit all day, so it's nice to find others in the same mindset.

Do you think Blanche was suffering from PTSD? She showed a lot of the signs. I believe she has been raped before.
@chenyanhao676
@chenyanhao676 6 лет назад
Blanche's trauma can be traced to freudian philosophy, if u consider that freud philosophy of "pleasure" is slapped in your face. Case in point, a streetcar named "desire", cemetary fields. If u take his philosophy seriously, freud talks about how humans have a death drive, that constantly compels them towards self-annihilation. PTSD is a manifestation of such a phenomenon because as he puts it, it is the trauma revisited by the patient such that they cannot let go of their experience with self-annihilation, once the patient gets a taste of it anyway. Blanche's ptsd stems from her relationship with her gay ex-lover, whom she loved dearly but her own morals made him repulsive to her. Her experiences on the day are very similar to symptoms of being shell-shock, displacement of mind, recalling of sensory phenomenon about the event, anxiety etc. So in short, yes she suffered from ptsd, no, she wasnt raped b4. Her trauma stems from her instinctive disgust betraying her love, and this melding of the two leads her towards self-annihilation
