A road trip to Centerville, Texas (East Central Texas tour) 

Centerville is a small East Central Texas town with a population just below a thousand people. It's located midway between Dallas and Houston along i-45 and it's in the center of Leon Country. It's got the historic courthouse building from 1887 and the Old Leon Country Jail as well as the new Leon County Jail. These are located in the downtown area which is just off highway 45 along St. Mary's Street. The small town is known as the heart of the Deerest Place in Texas and it was where Lightnin' Hopkins was born. Before heading out I stopped at Woody's Smokehouse, which is the popular spot where people stop along the drive to get their famous homemade beef jerky. Good times.
