Maureen Smith's commitment and passion for patient engagement and patient-partnered research stems from a rare disease diagnosis in childhood and frequent flyer status with the healthcare system. Shehas benefitted both from participating in pediatric and adult clinical trials and collaborating with trialists as a patient partner.
She co-leads patient engagement for INFORM RARE, a rare disease pediatric research network and is a member of the ACT Consortium’s Patient Engagement Committee andTraining Committee. Maureen has the privilege of leading the IMPaCT Training Platform’s parent and youth mentorship program. In June 2023 Maureen was appointed AdjunctProfessor at the University of Toronto DallaLana School of Public Health, a recognition o fthe expertise she has acquired in patient engagement as a person with lived experience.
