Bro, I swear, you were doing and saying everything I was when I watched it. The heavy breathing, the goosebumps, the increasing anticipation and the joy of reaching apogee, the the excitement of the bellyflop after raptor shutdown and the stand up and jump about celebration on such a close landing. Thank you sooo much for sharing this, because I was able to relive those moments watching you, and it’s amazing to see the love of this endeavour is shared by so many. This gives me a renewed faith in humanity. Shame about the mishap with SN9 but Elon’s got a habit of bouncing back and quickly.

You couldn’t have stated it better. All starship needed was to clear the launch pad as it did and it made history. Now to see how SN9 performs under 3 vacuum raptor and full simulation cargo loads. I wonder if the 3 sea level raptors could land under fully loaded conditions? Ascent looked very slow but the aero surfaces performed as expected and the belly flop was awesome! Great Reaction!

The only time we can watch a rocket blow up and scream "YES! BRAVO!", it was given a 30% chance of success and got this far! It was the first every prototype of this rocket to do a full flight, with the first ever full flight of a Raptor engine, with the first ever flight with more than 1 engine, and, to top it off, the first ever belly flop of a vehicle of this size. It got SO close! Awesome job SpaceX!

I'm most surprised how resilient Starship was. It did not want to go out, Even with the engine failures, Right until the very end.
@mskiptr
@mskiptr 3 года назад
Turns out these were not failures. Only at the very end they had too low methane tank pressure thus not slowing down enough and crashing. They purposefully turned off the engines one by one. Idk if they didn't want too much thrust or that was just a test of steering capabilities. Either way you can see that at the end of ascent, SN8 actually moves sideways instead of up. That would probably be impossible with more engines at this point.
