If we thought Nick was incredible at La Lande then he has certainly lifted the bar somewhat, he’s a legend here with Dan. Watching the daily progress from New Zealand.
OMG DAN!!! Another amazing floor!!! This is sooo exciting!!! So glad you have such good friends to assist you with this endeavor!!! Can’t wait for tomorrah!!! 😃👍🏼
What a game changer (and human body saver) getting the digger into that room is! Getting that room cleared opens up the possibility of finishing that whole side of the Chateau relatively quickly. Very exciting! Great job everyone, and especially Nick who moves those machines around so delicately.
The man with the orange pants (and shirt) is such a huge help. I think that his presence boosts your productivity, not that you are a slacker by any stretch of the imagination. What you have accomplished by yourself is freaking amazing!
I had to chuckle when I saw Dan carrying a tree trunk and Calvin picked up a coupe of small branches! I'm sure he is a massive help and is very appreciated.
What an exciting find! I love the tile. It's like watching the Wizard of Oz- black and white and then suddenly - COLOR!! This really is a labor of love. I applaud you for what you have taken on and for what you are doing. Tremendous.
What a big difference it makes for you to have extra help on site and also to be able to get some heavy equipment in to do some of the clearing. You are moving ahead by leaps and bounds!
LIke the progress & discoveries of Team Dan. I knew they were going to need a loader/bobcat to clear that room. Just glad they found one to barely fit through that door! Love your comment name...I am a native Texan, here!
I got some chuckles from Dan humping the bags of cement off and the man in the orange pants picking up a tripod. Then Dan manhandles some logs while his friend picks up some twigs. 😂 But seriously, it's terrific that he returned for more punishment. He did a fantastic job of clearing the entrance and that was a bear of a job.
Holy crap batman did not imagine the depth of debris on that floor and finding more tile that is brillant. The machines are a great idea to reduce the time and the woodlands are fantastic.
They talk about dream teams and yet hear you are! Perfect example of that statement. Every single one of you works so beautifully together and look at all that you've accomplished! Every single person is contributing to so much there. Loving the progression. Have an amazing day!
Bobcats are worth their weight in GOLD on work sites. Glad you figured out how to get one through that passageway. Every scoop of that thing is 1 1/2 wheelbarrow loads you don't have to touch.
OMG! What can we viewers say?? Stunning, absolutely stunning! While it's sad to think of how much tragedy this poor Chateau has endured, it's uplifting to witness how Dan, the Gardener, the Chef, the Renovator is bringing this Chateau back to life:) It's incredible to see how the tiled floor in this buried room still survives, even with a ton of dirt, rubble, and plant life on top of it. Thanks to Nick, Dan, his friend - the Orange Pan Man and others!
You keep finding beautiful floors. I hope that these can be saved too. You are getting so much done. I know that Calvin is only there for a week. You are going to have to clean and fill the pool by next summer.
Yes, even the basement floor seen in previous Vlogs several months ago where Dan was clearing it out ( and re-pointing/re-mortaring the stone walls) is one of the most lovely basement floors I have ever seen in a chateau/mansion...scored concrete.
That tile floor was so unexpected! I can hardly imagine all the crazy stuff you might find in all that debris. Now that it's getting hotter outside, I'm so glad you're able to get the machines in there to do the heavy lifting. You fellas are working really hard and making huge progress. Thanks for sharing it all with us. This beautiful building has a future because of you. 💖💖💖
Dan, I’m just glad that you have company. I always worry that if you had an accident no one would be there to help, plus, apart from their excellent work, companionship lifts your spirits.
Absolutely amazing!! Can't believe Nick managed to get the skid steer INTO the chateau - and already the floor getting dug out from 2 M of dirt, and finding tiles - it is going to be absolutely AMAZING!!! So very happy for you! NOW for the beams and roof!... I cannot wait for the next vlog!
Oh my god I’m overwhelmed just looking at todays vlog. Phew. I knew it was a massive undertaking but today it really showed the amount of work ahead. Good on you for having the fortitude. Go Dan and helpers. 🎉😊
Unbelievable!! Dan, You, Nick, Calvin and Cameron are going to go down in History after this Epic Restoration!! Actually, let's face it.... It's a Re-Build!! Amazing to see this take place. No Words Dan! You are an inspiration! Cheers!!
It’s very exciting. Nick is worth his weight in gold. He’s a superstar with his machines. The floor is a fantastic find. Calvin is a great worker and Cameron just kept at it with whatever was needed, as in a Strimmer or angle grinder. Fun fact, In Sydney Australia we call Strimmers a Whipper Snipper. I didn’t know what a Strimmer was until I looked it up and then saw you using one Dan. Excellent work all around. I’m extremely impressed. Thank you. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤❤❤🤩🤩🤩
Australia uses whipper snipper most commonly but weed eater is still frequently used. Weed whacker we would understand you, strimmer I heard but would never use.
I had thought, it would be so nice to get the digger in to clean out the rooms, but thought, nah, that’s a crazy idea. So amazed you all found a way to do just that! There is no telling how much time and energy that digger saved you. I’m sure Calvin appreciates it more than you know. Q
I litterly came out of bed to watch this! What a progress! You all work your but of! And I can see that you all are very very tired. That floor looks amazing! Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings, so rest with a good night sleep and see you, hopefully, tomorrow! 💋
"I hug trees with my chainsaw." Love Nick's shirt! This is amazing work, and so rewarding to watch, Dan. So happy you have help and things are moving along so well!
Little by little its getting done! Nick is an absolute genius. If his body has had enough of climbing trees then he'll never be out of machine work! Master grounds man ❤
Oooh, that was totally worth the wait. Nick in his yellow bucking bronco is amazing to watch! It's going so fast and that floor is another treasure. Woods are looking great. Another great day of progress...well done guys 👍
Who would believe that one could get excited about watching a video of someone shifting dirt?!😅 Nick, you are a legend and a lifesaver for Dan when it comes to getting all that rubble out with the digger. It’s no easy task for you either but it must have saved weeks of backbreaking shoveling. Cameron is championing the forest clearing too, while Nick is otherwise occupied. It’s good that you also have Calvin’s help again Dan and I’m sure you will be so happy to have that last basement room clear - and MORE beautiful tiled flooring being revealed!🥰
That little skid steer is a remarkable piece of equipment, and Nick handles it wish such finesse! Seeing the progress in that room is amazing and exciting. Congratulations to the team for the hard work and progress.
I did not realise how deep the mud, rock, wood etc was inside the room. Thank goodness for Nick and the yellow peril digger. It would have taken eons by hand. Great progress.
Definitely exciting for you to find another beautiful floor. I think Nik I has found his future using all the earth moving equipment rather than climbing the trees. The excitement of all of you today was so invigorating that I had to watch more than once.
Great seeing work progressing for you. Additional help does that. It would be great if Nick had contacts for "Day Laborers" to come to the Chateau to remove all the Ivy from the building. And, your "rooftop garden." Just a thought. Crack On!
Hooray for the skid stir, a serious game changer for this restoration .. Keep Doing What Your Doing .. Because What You Are Doing Is Nothing Short Of Amazing !!
This is exciting Dan! So good to see several good people helping you get closer to your dream! To find another tiled floor is wonderful! I can't wait to see Nick get this room cleared out. I really do enjoy watching your progress and bringing life back to these ruins.
Love that flooring, Nick's expertise is somewhat awesome, fascinating watching him drive in and out of that doorway. Can't wait to see more archeology and what comes to the surface.
I was watching with eyes wide.😳 Nick is being so careful going through that kitchen doorway with barely inches/milimeters? to spare on either side of the skid steer. Great job so far, buy all Team Dan! Another family member of mine ( engineering background) noted that if that machine hit the doorway hard enough, it could bring down the unstable walls! That is good the team is clearing the room of debris, and getting those I-beams up to stabilize the walls, with all hands on deck this week.
I was so excited to see you clearing out that room. And to finds the intact tiles was really surprising. I can't wait to see what else turns up as the chateau gives up its treasures.
Those encaustic tiles are really tough. Fortunately, the bobcat has pneumatic tires. Anything else would surely destroy the floor. I'm still concerned that the metal bucket will damage them.🤞
Nick makes moving that machine in and out of the doorway look so easy to do!!! The progress being made each video is amazing, from the land and trees to removing dirt, stones, bricks and such from the basement room. Added to the brick laying Dan is doing, we can see the chateau beginning to come alive again.
Nick is so calm about the fact that the bobcat clears the doorway by a matter of two inches. Fantastic! Many times I have thought that this chateau might never be habitable. But in the past few weeks, I can see that it will! What an amazing feat!
Indeed amazing how the bobcat barely fits through that door! I knew they were going to need a machine to clear all that debris, but I wasn't sure what kind/size machine they were going to get to do the job. Great machinery choice.
Yes,another beautiful floor, how cool is that!! Plus you have your own Sherwood forest!! Your boys will have so much fun growing up there!! See ya tomorrow!!
Great progress ! Every inch gained is an encouragement , especially if you can employ machinery and save your energy for more intricate clearing and repair .
I love that Nick jumped in and helped with a project that's not in his usual wheelhouse. I watch you, Lalande, Manor and Maker, and Bordeaux life. I love seeing crossovers of people and talents!
Wow, Dan!! The underground room story did not resonate with me at first because I did not understand the significance. After Nick, the digger "magician," revealed the tiled floor, the dawn came. It's absolutely beautiful and its colour is retained. I now share your enthusiasm for this part of the work!! Dan, you are incredibly strong, lifting those tree trunks. I used to help out the family I live with by feeding chunks of wood into the outdoor wood burner during winter. They were not nearly as large as those tree trunks and I struggled. So I know how heavy wood can be. After giving myself two hernias (repaired), I have retired from that chore in my middle seventies. Cheers!! And my prayers for your continued progress. I'm with you... Chuck in Northern New England
Wow!!! Look at that tile floor! Great! Your beams have been delivered ... So happy for you Dan. Nick certainly works magic! Your Chateau is going to be a true Phoenix Dan! Thank goodness for this incredible machine ... This has saved you and Calvin tons of hard and slow work. Wow the tile floor is so awesome!!!
Now that is exciting news, oh my that floor...I'm blown away by all the rubble on it...awesome friends, hard workers...cheers boys for a job well done...!
It's fascinating seeing this all come together so quickly! You're all handsome, doing manly things, and making Dan's dream a reality. Have I mentioned It's a grand palace?!
So exciting to see this room get cleared! It's amazing how much debris and organic matter there is, even outside the Chateau walls. It's going to look so good when it's all cleared. Happy for you to find more tiles! It's like finding an area complete. The truck fit so perfectly. What a blessing. Thank goodness for Nick and his machinery!
Just to know you have people like Nick Orange pant man and Cameron to help Dan is wonderful. Nick warms my heart with his knowledge of trees and wildlife. His mechanical skills leave me in awe. You are all doing an amazing job and I love watching the joy of progress Thank you. Where did the gloves go????
