We sail to The Saints in Guadeloupe and spend several days exploring before we head out on our last overnight for the season to Saint Lucia. We visit a fort and do a dive before we go. We split up with our buddy boats and go it alone for a while.

Hi guys! My girlfriend (Justine) and I are two of the four students who met you the other day at the anchorage with the barbecue on the beach (we were in the monohull). We enjoyed meeting you and chatting, especially since you are living our dream! And we completed our classes successfully, enriched in knowledge, experience, and inspiration. This episode is a great example of the exhilarating, nerve-wracking nature of sailing! Thanks for showing us newbies what it's like out there!

Enjoyed your channel! Just Subscribed.I’m trying to convince my wife that a circumnavigation is a great retirement project and went so far as to even start a little channel (@NavalGazingatCampDavid) to sell her on the life style….desperate times and all that. Lol. Thanks again for the great content. I have a whoooole new appreciation for the time and care it takes to create these episodes!

I’ll check out the channel! And yes it takes so much time, I got busy and haven’t made a new video for 5 weeks. Getting back at it though.

Great vid guys. We miss you all and can’t wait to see you in a couple of weeks. You have to show us how when you pulled into St. Lucia you got the camera to spin around to keep the same reference point. That was pretty cool and assuming it was the 360?
@SailingSymphony
@SailingSymphony Год назад
Yep used the 360. I could swear it did that itself, but I edited that particular clip so long ago I can't remember :(

I dunno if it’s because your boat is the one I’d buy if I could, or if it’s because your content is just so interesting, but I really love going along on your journey. Thanks so much for going to the trouble of sharing it. Every time you have various portions of the boat on camera I look at all the details. Your underwater shots are excellent and like being there. And I really like Wind Therapy folks too. :) That was great seeing the plan and execution of the trip down to the Saints. Thanks so much for the details, the excellent shots and for sharing your boat and life. What does the drooping cable at the help top supply?
@SailingSymphony

Thank you so much! The drooping cable is a light that we hook up if we go to shore and we want to find our boat in the dark in a crowded anchorage. It worked, but there isn't a great way to mount it without drilling holes in the helm roof. One of the ziptie stickers keeps unsticking. So instead, I have now replaced the helm light with one that you can change colors on and make it bright. I'll film a little bit about it, might be useful info. Good question!

To be honest, I might just be unlucky, or just stupid but every time I have sailed we encountered bad weather combined with enormous, 5-10 meter swells. In a 38-foot Hartley, a ferro boat, we hit 15 knots running down waves, we yanked the motor off its mounts trying to keep her from broaching, but she always handled it in a lady-like manner, albeit a heavy lady, of good proportions., Unfortunately, insurance companies frown on ferro cement boats thinking they have a limited lifespan and are hard to repair, they are wrong, easy to repair and if built right, will last as long as most floating marinas. She broke her mooring about a month back and ended up on the rocks, we could only get third-party insurance so the salvage was on us. She hit the wharf, damaging both the wharf and herself closing me close to $20 grand. This, of course, only months after putting her in the water after a two-year refit. Well, like a lot of other people I can say "Yup, I had a boat and she cost me a fortune." But, at least, it did not cost anyone's life.

Can you spear the lion fish there? Can't wait to see St Lucia - it was second on our honeymoon list (went to Turks and Caicos) and still haven't made it there. Donate for a Dream

In Guadeloupe, as a visitor you are allowed to hunt lionfish but only while freediving. In Saint Lucia, visitors can only hunt them if on a guided dive. Seems every country has a very different rule about it. Hard to keep track of it! Saint Lucia video is coming but not tomorrow, we are on our last week of sailing and I can't seem to find a spot to sit down and edit :)
