Awesome :) From my initial research, they seemed just as rare, and hard to find as your saying here. Then yesterday I read an account of flocks of 50 of them, with some even frequenting feeders ??? Is that true somewhere else ? Or were they mistaking a different species for BRF ?
Thank you for this question! They are difficult to find in their high alpine habitats in the summer, but all three species of rosy-finches will form flocks in the fall and winter and are known for showing up at bird feeders. If you are curious to learn more, visit our Rosy-Finch Project page here: sagelandcollaborative.org/rosy-finch. We have hundreds of community scientists counting rosy-finches at their bird feeders from December - April. People can join in anytime!
