An exiting night at Port Lincoln.
During a very heavy storm a nearby yacht is blown away, dragging its anchor, and crashes into the barge.
Mum and Dad were on the nest, bracing the storm, when it hit the barge, leaving the nest as it approached..
They returned some time later, with the yacht close to the nest, only leaving again when the bowsprit wrecked the close perch.
The osprey are fine, although a bit reckless.. and State Emergency Services removed the yacht in the morning.. Kudos to them in the still windy circumstances.
There seems to be minor damage to the barge itself, although the mooring ropes need to have a close inspection.
Luckily there weren't any eggs or osplets on the nest yet.. they will be soon though.. in a month there should be eggs.. and then a new season begins!
